Yeah, like FIM and most kids shows.

I actually didn't notice that much real-world politics in FIM. Or, whatever I saw didn't make me think "yep, they did this to score some woke/conservative/etc points".

This report isn’t long, but it reveals plenty of potential. Vogel’s inspiration from being a cisgender gay man and desire for both representation in cartoons (Lofty and Holiday’s relationship and his continuous emphasis over it adds up) and overall acceptance gives forth some really great ideas. His premise is really strong and full of potential. Let’s see if he lives up to it! :D

I wish Mike good luck with this project and hope it's good. If it is, I'll probably give it a shot. If anything, MLP taught me to be more open-minded about cartoons.

Not scoring points - teaching lessons and morals. Almost all kid's shows do it.

That - yes. Advertising the show as "LGBT show" looks to me like trying to score points. Just like advertising a show as "Christian oriented" would be done to score points. Kids do not care about either, so, such advertisement is either for the parents or the journalists/activists/etc.

In comparison, I have not seen FIM advertised as "socialist show" or "conservative show" - it's a show about cute ponies and friendship, even though some people tried to read too much into it (Rainbow Dash has rainbow-colored hair and is not girly enough, so she must be gay, even though rainbow used to be just a pretty thing).

Now, this show looks like it is created to spark controversy, based on the advertisement. It's definitely going to cause outrage in some places (and not only Russia), so that then the creators etc would have a reason for their own outrage.

And here is my reason, from the link in OP:

Quote

Princess Alexander focuses on themes of sexuality and gender, and revolves around a young prince who realizes he has magical powers that have traditionally been exclusive to princesses, while possessing none of the natural skills that princes are supposed to have

So, according to that, if a guy is good at traditionally-female things, he is either gay or has to become a woman. Wasn't this an accusation thrown at bronies  (a man cannot like a show aimed at little girls, if he does, he is either gay or not a man)?

Inverted, if a girl likes tech, working on cars etc and is good at it she is either gay or should become a man?

I thought that, while gender roles/stereotypes probably fit a lot of people, there are always exceptions, but the exceptions do not need to be gay.

So, this is what makes me think that the creators want to score points. In my opinion, the show (from the description) is about a guy who is good at things normally girls are good at and how that may be a problem if the society enforces traditional gender roles, not about sexuality and LGBT..

Certainly, the them has the potential to be handled well or poorly. But perhaps best to wait and see the show before deciding which?

Yes, just, you know, the beginning was handled badly IMO. Can they change? Yea, sure.
