I heard they keep using friendcodes, can’t open a lobby with your friends only, and there haven’t been any improvements in optimization despite being paid now. Not really sure, I don’t really do online

Only online thing I've done for Nintendo was Mario Kart 8, and it seemed weird that there were so few select phrases to pic from in that lobby. You could say so little, it was ind of like why even bother other than to spam one phrase in particular as a nuisance.

I would say lack of party chat is one and not every game supporting cloud saves. This is not from firsthand experience, but I hear when games lag online, it can get pretty bad.

Yeah I also found that you can’t use a hotspot to connect to other switches online, and all I’ve really got is hotspot

I have been frustrated watching online play of Super Mario Maker 2, seeing how limited the capabilities are.

It personally doesn’t bother me terribly because I like single player games more than most online multiplayer or just online games, but I can see why that would be bothersome.

Nintendo's online service lacks many standard features present in other online services (XBL and PSN for example). It's been messy to use and I just gave up trying on my 3DS because it was so cumbersome.
