Does anyone else dislike Rainbow Dash? If so, why?

It's hard to point out anything to dislike when it was obvious that guy in charge of the show's second half actively went out of his way to sabotage most of her episodes. I

tbf I also thought this was a really bad old shitpost that someone decided to bump, but nope, not surprising though

Everything I've known about that episode's production through the leaks really paints it in a different picture on it, and for the worst. I don't know what was worse, the fact that the leaks showed the new writers actually knew what they were doing most of the time and Haber went out of his way to ruin it, or the fact that fucking Hasbro actually pointed out the hazing and how bad it looked(and in their words: "The Wonderbolts just come across as nasty here"), and the staff still thought it was okay and ignore them. Fuck right off

I refuse to believe they actually thought it would have been a good episode and was anything more than a sick joke

Never was a fan of hers. Never really enjoyed her moments, she seems really conceded in admitting that she is too 'proud' it took a lot of development for her to finally feel like a good damn character. I think ever since The Mysterious Mare Do Well episode I have never really liked her.

Ok I started out meh on Dashie but grew to love her. But now I gotta address some of the criticism I see here.

1) she should have been nice to Fluttershy in the Crystal Empire episode. No sorry but in an emergency and with a short gap to keep crowd interest you kick the other person in the plot and tell them to get going. 

Further the idea of its realistic  but... no there is no but. Its realistic and thus silly to complain about. Fluttershy was not made of glass and was never gonna grow is ponies treated her like she was and a show is boring when people always handle everything perfectly. Take those both with the first part and that 100% clears the situation.

2) The whole "abuse" of Dashie in Newbie Dash. Oh for real? The Bolts are a paramilitaryish group and they are the best of the best. You dont get that way handling people with kid gloves and in the military if you ain't getting teased you ain't liked. Plus there is no way they did not know her who ego and a need for her to check it and figure out how go deal with being around people as good or maybe better then her. And that cant be taught in a classroom or with gentle pats to the head. It's something you learn the hard way.

3) The idea that she does not have to work hard for her talent. First she is shown coming up with custom flight moves all the time. And she keeps up physically with a STRONG earth pony ie AJ. Sorry but you dont go hoof to hoof with AJ without training hard.

Because people can relate to her? I personally have things I can relate to RD, but the way she is written at times just grind my gears. I mean again I'm not a fan of her, but yet I can see why people like her. I just don't agree with them.

I disliked her for the longest time because she reminded me so much of bully girls in my child days. The obnoxious preening, the loud mouth, borderline bullying nature, the smugness she has in not taking part or avoiding things 'I was busy! NAPPING!' from Ticket Master for example.

She's gotten a lot better, and I think being humbled by the Wonderbolts has really helped her. She's not a hot shot with them, she's just another flyer and won't get special treatment.

I don't like her because she is often rude, and sometimes brings no value as a friend to the rest of the mane six, but, she is very honest

I think I'd like her much more as a character if she was the element of honesty, not loyalty. Without her element being honesty, she's just being insensitive, rather then painfully honesty

You should have been part of the fandom back in 2012, when every single avatar on the Internet, YoutTube, Facebook, Twitter didn't exist then, but still, was a picture of the rainbow mane pony from G4.
No other pony has been so popular in the history of the Internet (according to my own calculations).

But when you add that voice that she has in the show, and her attitude that can get a little bit old in the later seasons, then she is annoying.

 

But I like her for one single attribute, her simple eyelashes style (that also most background ponies got). Being so popular, but still having the most simplest design, is very cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

And actually, I'd rank Newbie Dash super low and consider it a very bad episode. Maybe second worst in my own rankings?

I find the ego thing cute. She actually is awesome and yet beyond that, it's her way of coping with deeper insecurities. She sings a line about it in the episode Fame and Misfortune, noting it gives her the courage to fail.

For a good character analysis on Rainbow Dash in general, check out RarityDash's review of Newbie Dash on YouTube. He did like the episode, but he explains how people with certain empathy for the character, such as myself, would not like it.

Well. I don't dislike her. I say I hate her a lot but really I just hate the fandoms reaction to her. I don't like how everyone is always saying "OMG DASHIE IS SOOOO CUTE AND HOT AND AWESOME AND MOST SHIPPED PONY AND BETTER THAN ALL THE OTHER MANE SIX MEMBERS THAT ARE TRASH!". I would imagine since she has a tendency to be a braggart, it's easy for her to make people dislike her. Many people know a braggart so seeing someone like her reminds them of said person.

I think she can be confrontational, impatient, obnoxious, self centered and smug. Sometimes careless and focused on her cockiness. 
 

By contrast to how caring and compassionate the others are, yeah, it’s easy to dislike Rainbow Dash lol but I think those are just negative traits of being a competing pony.

Dash is a bit of paradox in that regards.

Her ego can be annoying as hell and yet it's also what makes her likable from time to time as well.

It's like I love her courage to take on the world for her friends but hate the fact she forgets  about their important.

She's pony equivalent of "Leroy Jenkins."

You can even picture it too.

Of course, while her ego and over competitive nature are annoying you can go to far in other direction and end up with Gen5 or gen ,3.5 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

 

So yes for me it's a love and hate relationship with Dashie

Rainbow Dash is very protective of Fluttershy. (Depending on the episode.)

I definitely don't dislike her but it's easy to see why someone might. Since I feel like she probably has the most obvious flaws (ones pointed out earlier in the thread) out of the mane cast. Not only that but they're flaws that also tend to really rub people the wrong way.
