Online dating is remote relationships, when both people only keep themselves online, rarely meeting irl for their own reasons.

I have only tried online dating once, and it was with a member on this forum. Unfortunately It did not last very long (I think three weeks?), and we ended up going our separate ways due to political differences. 

Despite that being nearly seven years ago, I still remember it quite fondly, and contrary to many of my old posts, I have nothing but tender memories of its innocent, yet short-lived, nature. As you could imagine, I did not react very positively to the breakup, but after all these years it is clear I was not ready to be with someone more emotionally-mature than me, someone who knew that things would not work out in the long-run, despite how much I wanted them to. Initially, we both tried to remain friends, but unfortunately I made the mistake of letting my frustration and jealously get the best of me, which crushed any hope of a healthy friendship in exchange for toxic resentment (going as far as temporarily blocking them).

Looking back, I said and did a lot of mean things that I now regret, and I hope if they see this, that they know that I am sorry for my behavior, and I hope that you have since found someone who loves and treats you right.

Okay I have online dated before, Would I do it again no. I have learned that I need to be able to see and feel them physically for me too know it wouldn't take long for us to be together and when that's lacking it makes it hard for me to want to keep the relationship going its not my cup of tea but i do think it can be great for some people. When I did online date however it did go fine for most times although i did get catfished once. 

My Longest online relationship lasted a good 3 months, I've learned its just not for me but that's okay. If being in a online relationship makes your heart happy go for it
