gaming What Nintendo game do you think should be a movie?

I didnt realize people played Nintendo games for the "plot". Thus I didnt think any would make a great movie, and lets all remember what happened last time.

Actually, Mario and Kirby aside Nintendo's IPs like Metroid and Zelda actually do have good stories that can easily be made into a movie. Not all Nintendo games are devoid of story like Mario games.

When you say Metroid. Do you mean Prime or *shudder* Other M. I would agree with anything Metroid but not Other M. And Link should always be a silent protagonist.

Just because it's a movie doesn't mean he can't be silent still. There is such thing as mute people, ya know. :P

And I haven't played Other M but I meant Metroid in general but mostly Prime because those are the ones I've played and the ones I've read nearly all the data logs for. :D

Dont play Other M if you like Metroid.

As a gamer I always count it as the people who made it. When someone says "Nintendo game" they are never referring to Blackthorne, B.O.B. or Wild Guns so why would Chrono Trigger, a game made by someone who's not Nintendo, also count? :P

Being on a Nintendo console doesn't mean it had anything to do with Nintendo at all. Could have just as easily been on the Genesis or Master System.

I think I've heard about it but I haven't seen anything on it. I wondered if it actually was happening or not.

It's all a matter of preference then.

When I was young, there was Nintendo, and Sega. If I said I wanted to play Nintendo, it would mean any game on the Nintendo system. I wouldn't say "I want to play Squaresoft" or SquareEnix, or whatever they are calling themselves now.

I do see your point however. Hopefully you see mine as well. I just don't think it's worth making a big deal out of :P

I do see your point but as a gamer I am a teensy bit picky about the semantics of the situation.

lol All things considering I'll like it regardless. I never treat a series as itself when a sequel comes out. I treat every game like it's own unique thing. I like games that change the formula, I like games that are so utterly different a lot of people say "This isn't x anymore"

I can almost guarantee I'll like Other M and Nintendo has never not put out quality games, at least in the last 15 years.

Nintendo didnt develop it, Team Ninja did. The gameplay may have been decent, as was the setting. But jesus f christ the voice acting and overall plot. It is like Sakamoto took a fanfic and made a game out of it. Also the Deleter.

I'd like to see a LoZ movie, but I'm afraid they would just mess up the story. I mean, Hollywood doesn't exactly want to have a silent protagonist running around ancient temples and then fighting monsters do they? The buckers wouldn't stand for it!

They want marketable, clearly defined characters that they can use again and again, so that they don't have to spend time with character development in the inevitable sequels.

They would butcher the story, change the characters, and hardly regard the established fans in an attempt to make money off of the fact that it is a movie rather than it being good.

Look what happened to Spider-Man, Transformers, and Crystal Skull! All great stories torn apart by a lust for money rather than a wish for quality.

Now, if you want a good LoZ movie, get a fan in there to do it. One who cares more about staying true to the series than making a quick buck.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot Team Ninja were the ones who developed it.

Still, as far as voice acting and story go I never listen to anyone but myself because everyone has different opinions on such things. I'm the type who finds something to like about a game and sticks to it and I enjoy the game because I don't dwell on the things that would possibly make me hate it.

Star Fox all the way. Think about it.

SEGA needs to do an official CGI Sonic movie.

NO. Remember Night of the Werehog? The CGI biz doesn't really work for Sonic outside of 30 second cutscenes between levels. Traditional animation is where it's at for him. The OVA was the best potrayal of the games ever captured on a non-interactive screen. The animation is what made it. Sure, the movie was awesome in it's story, but that story couldn't have been portrayed anywhere near as well if one were to do it CGI, even with today's technology.

Or a Kirby horror film lol

You say that like it's a joke, but when Kirby has to deal with crap like the God of Death, a Demonic Zombie Jester, traitorous alien scum, exploring post-war Earth, twisted painted illusions, alien pyramids, fairy catacombs, and fighting an angelic being of pure hate that shoots blood at Kirby trying to kill him, it kinda loses it's irony.

And he already had a movie, it was at the end of his 100 Anime series. : P

But I would like to see a CGi Yoshi's Island, or an actual full length anime Pokemon Mystery Dungeon., Explorers of X.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time need to be made into a film. Not live-action, though. Animated.

Really? I would think it'd be best to do it live action. I mean, you remember that April Fool's joke that ign (I think it was them, it was years ago) did? That fake trailer showed Ocarina of Time in an entirely different way. One that I think would be perfect to build a feature length movie from.

Also if you're looking at it seriously, I mean the whole thing happening. I still think that a live-action path is best. If they were to make a movie of it in cartoon form. I think quite a few people would be turned of to it, given the reputation the 80's-90's cartoon has.

DooM was alright, Final Fantasy: Spirits Within was okay...

I dunno. Depends on how the story is made.

I think Fire Emblem could make a great movie, as long as the story and characterization is at the level of the games(which is some of the best in gaming imo). ;)

No game should ever have to be made into a movie. It's a fan service which can turn out awful and make no sense.

Look at the Resident Evil movies. They are generally bad and make very little sense. The problem often lies in the fact that games have a lot more narrative and story aspects to deal with then a movie. And can be delivered in such a way that takes more time then time allotted in a movie.

The next thing is delivery. In a lot of games you are dealing with a fixed perspective on the protagonist. And often in a way tell the story to the player through monologue. Many protagonists in games tend to be mute or simply don't talk a lot. Meaning in order to have a good on screen portrayal, they have to start talking and discussing

So movies are very different. If it can be made in a way that makes sense, they should go for it, but crappy projects are never fun to produce and watch.

Chrono Trigger!!

Metroid and Zelda also

This is what I was going to say. And even though Chrono Trigger isn't developed by Nintendo I still wouldn't mind seeing a movie made out of it.

But of course we have to remember that most of the time movies based on video games don't turn out well, take a look at this for example:
