Will G5 be a reboot of G4 or a continuation?

I’m confused if MLP G5 is a Reboot or a sequel to FIM. the leaked info said that it would expand upon G4’s world. Yet in an interview with the Director of the G5 movie, it said that “they wanted the G4 locations to be far in the past so they could completely reboot the world”. So again, I’m very confused if G5 is a rebel or a sequel or both.

I don't think the leaked info meant expanding upon G4's world like in a sequel, so I think that it would be considered a soft reboot of FIM, especially considering the fact that they suggest that a lot of time has passed since G4.

Specifically, a “soft reboot”. It’s in essence a reboot, as in standing on it’s own , but making it clear it takes place in the same world, with little to no influence from the previous work. Just think the God of War reboot. You can’t get more “soft reboot” than having the very same Kratos in Midgar

It takes place after FiM but long after it. I’d call it a soft reboot because so much changed.

Not exactly sure it is clear from the G5 movie that they take place in the same universe just far into the future relative to G4. It will be interesting to see in the future how much of the original G4 canon they keep, but for now only time will tell.

Don't worry bruh.  It seems those involved in the film couldn't make up their mind, so of course we would be confused.  I don't know how well that bodes for the upcoming series, but we'll see.
