"Ok then, let's go. No time to flirt with the maids around here," Dr. Clue said to Kuya as she galloped over to the north side of the castle.

As she arrives, she searches for Duster Lawn. "Alright, let's get straight to the point. You were the one that was supposed to deliver Celestia's cherry cake yesterday evening, but it never arrived at her quarters. What happened?" Dr. Clue asked Duster Lawn.

Kuya gave a final wink to the maids.

" Don't worry, I won't be gone for long."  He then follows Dr. Clue for their new destination.

"You sure do your job quick, you sure we ain't missing any clues the way you blaze through?" He asked her.

Unlikely, but better to make sure than shrug it off. "My good clerk, who makes the cakes you sell? I'm on important mission, tasked by the princess herself, and it involves cakes; much like the ones you sell here. If there's a chef or a supplier, I'd love to talk to them."

Charm (d6), result: 2. Not much of a success.

Your flirting doesn't seem to impress the maids that much. And your advances are cut short anyway due to Dr. Clue's intervention.

@Ocean Wavedream

Duster Lawn is a rather pretty unicorn mare with a green coat and two-toned blue mane and tail. Her cutie mark depicts the moon over the surface of the sea, partially hidden behind the horizon. She looks shocked by your question. "What? B-but... I did deliver it!" She says in a slightly absent-minded, and slightly frightened manner.

@Samurai Equine

"I'm glad you asked, good sir." The clerk is happy to praise his products some more. "All food we sell here comes straight from the castle kitchen. The very same place that serves the Princess and her guests! So if you need authentic castle food for your mission, you've come to the right place!"

Now that Dr. Clue could see Duster Lawn in pony, she compared her again to the pony that she saw yesterday evening. (Use investigation on Duster Lawn to see if she can figure out anything more from her.)

"Ok then, take us there and describe in detail what you did when you arrived with the cake," Dr. Clue said, observing Duster Lawn carefully.

"Or you can't take me straight to your heart." Kuya counter replied Dr. Clue as he tries to flirt with Duster Lawn.

" Hello there beautiful. Just lead me straight to your heart and I'll do the rest." He said charmingly to Duster Lawn.

charm check.

as he got close he analyzed the pony head to hoof.

intelligence check. Pony Sense check.

" My... Up close you sure quite are beautiful." Another attempt to charm the mare.

charm check again + ability if fail

@PawelS

Seems asking rationally works once again! "Thank you, sir. My mission continues from here on in. Although..." He puts a hefty number of bits on the table. "This should be enough for one of your larger bouquet of flowers. I want a mix; half roses and half of whatever Celestia's favorite flowers are. Oh, but not right now. I'll pick them up later. The name on the order is Samurai Equine. Take care, my good shop owner." Samurai bows in his Japonies style before leaving.

Now to the kitchen! However... Weren't his friends going there earlier? Guess the clues are drawing them together. But there is one thing that is on his mind...
When he gets to the kitchen, he sees his friends have all ready moved on. "Excuse me. Sorry for intruding. Has anypony seen Dr. Clue or Kuya recently?"

Now you remember for sure that she is the maid you saw yesterday.

Intellect (d5), result: 3 / Investigation (d5), result: 2. Best result: 3. Moderate success.

As far as you can tell, there is nothing unusual about the mare.

She is surprised by your request. "You mean I take you to Celestia's chambers? But I can't go there if I'm not ordered to. And I have work to do here..."

@Kujamih

Charm (d6), result: 6. Critical success!

"And you're quite a handsome stallion yourself. Perhaps we can meet in the evening, when I'm done with my work and this investigation? If I don't go to the dungeon, that is..."

Intellect check omitted, because you can't achieve a better result than Dr. Clue.

@Samurai Equine

You arrive in the kitchen. One of the cooks tells you that Dr. Clue was here indeed, along with some stallion that wanted to steal his pizza. They seem to be conducting some sort of investigation and went to see the maid who was responsible for delivering the cake.

" I actually prefer meeting you in the dungeon." Kuya slyly said to Duster Lawn.

He then grabs her hoof and kisses it like a gentle pony would.

" Anyway cooperate with us and I assure you, I'll handle the rest for you. I'll even give you a reward, if you get my drift." He winks towards her.

But it seems that the only clue we got was the princess's chamber.

" I guess our next place to investigate is the princess's chamber... Do we need special permission to enter there Dr. Clue?"

Samurai listens and nods. "Thank you for the update. ... One more thing before I go. Princess Celestia recently ordered a cherry cake. Has any pony returned a display plate or cake pan since then? If I know anything, no pony would serve the princess cake unless it was served on a fine display plate." Samurai asks the chef.

"Well I suppose asking her to come along was a bit of a stretch... Hmm, if the cake was delivered, but there was evidence that something happened to it, Celestia would have said that her cake was eaten or something, not that it was never delivered. However, Duster claims that it was delivered, so whatever must have happened to the cake wouldn't have any obvious evidence. I suppose we should go there to see if we can find any clues that Celestia couldn't find, but I find that unlikely," Dr. Clue mumbled to herself, making sure she was quite enough that Kuya wouldn't hear. "Where did you put the cake?" she suddenly asked Duster Lawn.

@Samurai Equine

"The plate was returned, but the Princess said it was empty when she found it in her chambers." The cook explains.

@Ocean Wavedream

Duster Lawn answers the question, trying to remember exactly what happened. "Where did I put it? On Celestia's table, of course. But I must admit I didn't look under the cover to see if the cake was there. And if you levitate stuff, you don't really feel its weight, so maybe the cake was already missing when I left the plate there. But how's that possible? I'm sure it was there when I took it from the kitchen, and I don't really see what could happen with it along the way..."

@Kujamih

The maid explains the situation to Kuya. "You have these fancy badges, so you're probably important enough to be allowed to do so. But going there without an appointment is an intrusion of privacy, you should talk to the guards standing in front of the throne room first, they should know where the Princess is, and if you are allowed to visit her chambers."

"Ok then, I'm not really sure how you wouldn't have seen the empty plate after taking the cover... Anyways, no time to flirt with Duster, let's go find Samurai Equine and see if he found anything," Dr. Clue said, quickly leaving the room. She looked up and down the hall and noticed Samurai in the distance. She quickly ran up to him "Hey Samurai, did you find out anything yet?" she asked.

"I did not remove the cover." Duster Lawn explains. "That's how the Princess likes it. She says the cake stays fresh for longer if it's covered."

(Other things that happen don't need my intervention.)

"Hmm, that seems unlikely. Why do you think that, Samurai Equine? I guess we could go to the kitchen again so you can confirm for yourself," Dr. Clue said.

"And Kuya, you really need to stop flirting with the ponies here and focus in the goal at hoof."

"Yes  ma'am..."

"The chef I was talking to said something that contradicts what the princess told us. Every royal dessert, especially Celestia's favorite cake, is always served to her on a fancy serving plate. The chef said that the princess returned an empty plate, but Celestia told us herself that she never received the cake. If she had received an empty plate, she wouldn't have withheld a vital clue like that. I think there is fowl play happening in the kitchen, further more.. It's just a hunch, but I think I know where the cake went. ... I was just at the gift shop. Turns out, they sell cakes made from the same ingredients as the ones used to make Celestia's favorite cakes. Could there be a connection?" Samurai whispers to his colleagues.

"HHAAHAAA ! Nice find indeed Samurai!"

He then looked at Dr. Clue and nagged a bit.

"I  told ya we've been blazing true the clues Doc... Tor Clue... Ahmm."

" But, I ended up finding the mare of my dreams. So it's still a win win right? Hey samurai I was first in line with Duster Lawn, no breaking the bro code okay."

"Well then, I suppose we should go to the kitchen to question the chefs some more. However, Celestia is also known for not revealing the whole truth sometimes. Perhaps we should go question her some more too. What do you think Samurai Equine? Where should we start?" Dr. Clue asked.
