Oh gosh, this pony has nerves of steel too, Dr. Clue grumbled in her mind.

"Oh really!? Well first of all, you are still acting like you were drinking in the morning with your finger nonsense, whatever that is. Earlier, you said 'I shouldn't be drinking early in the morning' so its clear that you were drinking before you arrived here. Second, while the other guards might have lead you to my quarters, that doesn't give you the right to just barge in like that without knocking. And no, it's not my responsibility to accommodate you. It never said that in the letter. Third, we might have different ideas of what friendly means, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean intentionally annoying others, so I would say that my claims are justified. Fourth, I did tell you to stop and you didn't, so that does justify any royal guards the actions to make you stop. I offered a chance for you to stop and move on, but you didn't take it. Finally, I'm telling you to stop committing felonies, so there's a difference. Now stop intentionally annoying me and we can move on," Dr. Clue snapped at Kuya. 

"My name's not doc it's Dr. Clue." she said, turning towards Samurai. "And yes, the things I  listed earlier are felonies. Now, I think it's about time that we visit Princess Celestia," she said, straightening herself up. She turned and headed towards the entrance. As she entered, her mood and attitude immediately changed. "Greetings Princess Celestia. Why are we summoned to you here today?" she said with a bow.

"first of all........there's no law that I can't drink water in the morning!" kuya smirked, trying to contain his laughter. 

" second of all! I did knock! turns out the door wasn't sturdy enough that it opened in one knock of a door! hehe..."

" ...felonies...pshh hehe! this is why I never joined the royal guards and stayed as a mercenary, no wonder you guys are stressed, and stuck up. you give a Pony power and they think they're above everyone... tsk, tsk, tsk.... but not you Samurai your cool. you too mango! and you too random guard, we should drink together sometimes....ahmm drink milk sometimes * wink wink* we should keep it kid friendly here."  he said while looking at Dr. Clue.

as they enter and greet princess Celestia, he too bowed Infront of her excellency.

Samurai tilts his head at the mention of felonies. "Eh? Juzai? ..." Still, the situation seem to resolve itself for now. "Wait for me! I all ready saw Celestia earlier, but it was just for a passing moment." Samurai says as he follows them.

It won't be long before they all enter the grand throne room and meet with Princess Celestia. Naturally, Samurai bows in her presence once more, stopping before getting too close to the throne as a royal guard would normally do. "Your highness, we have arrived upon your request." Samurai says. In any other situation, Samurai might call a princess 'hime-sama', However, since he stands before Celestia, he will stick only to her native language and be as formal as possible.

[Princess Celestia]

The guards escort you to the throne room. For those who haven't been here before, it's an impressive sight to behold: its height, the stained glass windows, the banners and the ornate throne can be quite overwhelming to an unprepared eye. But the most impressive is of course Princess Celestia herself, standing before you in all her glory, with wings spread and a serious look on her face.

"Rise, my faithful subjects." She says calmly. As you do it, she folds her wings and assumes a more casual pose. "You must be wondering why I summoned a group of ponies who don't seem to have anything in common. The truth is, I've gathered you here today because I need your help. There are some issues in the realm that need to be taken care of by a group of capable ponies like you. I made the choice personally. You all have different skills and abilities, and can complement each other in order to fulfill the missions I'm going to give to you."

"But there's one more reason why I summoned you here, any ideas what it could be?" She pauses, giving you time to think of an answer to her question.

[Dr. Clue]

Dr. Clue rose from her bow and matched Celestia’s casual position.

”What issues do you mean?” Dr. Clue asked.

“Hmm, I suppose that you are suggesting that we actually do have something in common,” Dr. Clue said. She looked around at the others. At first glance, it didn’t seem like they had much in common. For one, Kuya was a rambunctious rascal who was very unprofessional and has absolutely no respect for anypony. Then there was Mango who had been quite mysterious so far. Dr. Clue couldn’t see any similarities. And if they got along well? Celestia was probably unaware of the squeamish  that happened outside, but the group most certainly did not get along well together.

Roll mind and investigation.

Samurai rises and hangs on Celestia's ever word. "Why we were summoned?" Confused, Samurai looks at the others. Aside from Dr. Clue, he has never met any of them until just recently. They may have a better guess than he does. Or perhaps Celestia will explain. Samurai is silent for now.

From the way Celestia said it, you can figure out it's not about the specific ponies she summoned. It's about something she expects from you as a group. You also recognize an emotion in her voice, it's like longing for something that was lost long ago...

[Dr. Clue]

Let's see, we have a royal guard / detective, an actress, a samurai, and a mercenary. What does it mean? This is the most random hodgepodge of ponies I have ever seen. It seems that there is something about us together as a group. What does she expect from us? We don't share any values, especially with that Kuya bastard. It definitely sounded like Princess Celestia is longing for something that she lost though. Star Swirl the Bearded and the Pillars of Equestria? Maybe. Her sister Luna? That seems most likely out of the possibilities. 

"Hmm, my best guess is something to do with your sister Luna?" Dr. Clue asked carefully. She knew that this was a touchy subject and she didn't want to anger the princess, but from what she figured out, this was her best guess.

[Princess Celestia]

"You are a wise young mare, Dr. Clue. It's about my sister indeed." The sorrow in Celestia's voice becomes apparent. "But it's not something you need to worry about, it's my burden... Anyway, I hope to reunite with her someday, but it will happen in the distant future, and I have good reasons to believe that a group of friends will play a key role in this accomplishment."

The princess goes back to her usual voice, which sounds regal and majestic, but also gentle and caring. "That's why I need to learn more about friendship. I want to know if it's possible for a group of ponies as different as you to get along and become friends. Don't think I order you to do it. Friendships can't be forced, I just want to know if your experiences will make it happen naturally. So, in addition to the usual reports from your missions, I need all of you to give me reports on the relations within the group, and on what you learn from them. Can you do it for me?"

" kff...umm....okay I guess?" 

kuya tries to look at Dr. Clue to see if she lightened up. but knowing her she wouldn't.

so he gave a big smile towards her.

"well this is gonna be fun right DOC?"

" So your majesty, what would be our mission?" 

[Dr. Clue]

"Oh yeah, this is going to be so much fun. Especially because you love irritating other ponies so much," Dr. Clue said sarcastically. "Has anypony ever told you that irritating them repeatedly like this is a great way to make them hate you? Is that what you actually want to do now that Celestia has grouped us together like this?" She asked hypothetically. She leaned towards the other two ponies in the group. "Kuya's intolerable. Seriously, what's his problem?" she whispered not so quietly to the other two.

[Princess Celestia]

"Oh dear, I see you already have some friendship problems, I really hope you'll be able to sort them out." Celestia says with a smile. "Anyway, there are some things you need to know about what your positions will entice."

"First, I will not tell you in advance what kind of missions I'm going to give you. The situation in the kingdom changes every day, so I'll tell you about a specific mission only when I decide to send you on it."

"Second, the missions will take some of your time, so you'll have less of it for doing your usual work. But I'll pay you well, so it shouldn't be a problem."

"Third, I want you to keep what you do a secret. The fact that you'll be working for me is hard to hide, but you should keep the details to yourselves. Don't tell even your closest friends and family."

"Finally, I'm not ordering you to do it, I'm asking you to do it. It's your decision, and I'll understand if you refuse. Some of the missions can be dangerous, so think about my offer thoroughly before you accept it. If you have any general questions before I give you your first mission, ask them now."

kuya again, lowered his stance and bowed towards her highness.

" you had me at pay already, your majesty. I am your loyal subject! I will move mountains, NEIGH! straiten them for you if you wished so. no Ill words shall come out on any pony's mouth upon you."

" do not worry princess we take pride on your words, and we will be humble and take your heeds a secret to others. please do not mind, what you ask shall be given post haste."

kuya has turned 360° just by hearing payment. it seems he turns professional when money is involved.

"oh and do not worry Princess. Doctor Clue and I are just having some jest, and I have pulled her strings to its limits. hence fort I shall limit my mischief and maintain a professional and friendly relationship with the doctor." 

kuya then faced towards Dr. Clue and gave a bow of apology. 

"please do accept my apologies, if not for me, for the princess." 

[Dr. Clue]

"Yes, I understand these statements, and I'm willing to do what is needed of me. I don't have any general questions for now," Dr. Clue said to Celestia. Being a royal guard, she knew how to be prepared for the unexpected. Given that she was also a detective, she had experience hiding what she was doing from others. 

Dr. Clue then turned to face Kuya. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously at him. Something from within him seemed to have changed after Celestia mentioned what they were going to be doing, but he did also just call her by that name she hated right in front of Celestia. Still, Celestia was watching, and Dr. Clue supposed that she should give Kuya the benefit of the doubt. "I accept your apology," she said in a neutral tone.

Samurai smiles widely at everything the princess has said and then nods.

He turns to face the others. He is afraid they might be hesitating or accepting this for the wrong reasons. He is also afraid some of them might be hesitating.
He leaps out in front of them. "Everypony! I am not sure you fully understand what is going on here, so allow me to clarify. Look around. Don't you feel it? Don't you see it? We are SO lucky to be alive right here, right now, in Canterlot, the greatest city in Equestria! They say that in Canterlot, you can be a new mare. Or a new stallion. Whichever! But more importantly, we've been given a great opportunity. A privilege, really! We've been tasked with a mission, and not just any mission! A mission by the leader of our country. Now in any other situation, it would be okay to pick and choose your calling, maybe walk away from any task you don't like. But this is a mission from Princess Celestia, which means from here on out... History has it's eyes on you."

Samurai points to each of them. "History is happening right now with all of us. What side do you want to be on? Will you be remembered as the traitor and coward that turned tail and ran when your country needed you most? Or, will you be known as the champions that rose up to the challenge when the princess called upon you?" Samurai beams with pride. For a second, he turns back to Celestia with a soft smile. "I all ready know where I stand. When I became a samurai, my choice was all ready made. The station of samurai was founded on the ideals of loyalty. For Princess Celestia, I would lay down my life at her command." He looks back at the others. "But now is our time. We have a chance to be something more. For the princess. For the solar empire!"

Samurai approaches them. "I'm up for it. I'm just like my country. I'm young, scrappy, hungry; and I am not throwing away my shot! What of you all? It's true we come from different backgrounds and might never usually spend time together, but if you stand with me in this mission, then I'll fight hoof and nail to defend you all. No longer will we be strangers. You'll all be my nakama; my comrades. So what do you say?" Samurai holds up a hoof for an all-hooves-in moment. "...Friends?"

“Im willing to do what is needed, so I’m in,” Dr. Clue said as she placed her hoof in with the rest of the group, “For the country!”

[Mango Eve]

Mango, who had been silent up to this point finally pipes up, "We are honoured, mighty swan-like highness." Mango kow tows reverentially. "I would be honoured to stand flank to flank with these... fine... ponies."  she smiles at Clue, who had taken her in, but is less convinced of the wild Kuya and the less familiar Samurai.

And just like that, all four hooves were in and united.

Samurai beams with pride, then raises his hoof. "YATTA!! It's official! We're a team! Ooh! We should have a team name. Something like... The Horse 5. Oh, wait, no, there's only four of us. Supernova Flashmane! No, I think that's all ready taken. ...I'll come up with something! I just know it." Samurai say, spouting off a bunch of possible team names they really don't need.

kuya doesn't want to make samurai feel that he is the only one trying to make a name for the team. so he tried his best to assist samurai equine.

".... Champions of Celestia?" kuya blurted in the heat of the moment. 

[Princess Celestia]

The princess is not sure what to think about being called "swan-like", but doesn't say anything about it. Instead, she addresses the whole group.

"I'm glad you already started to get along. And that you all agreed to my terms. Please, take these." She gives each of you a golden badge, with the symbol of the sun on it. "Wear them with pride, as you are the protectors of this land. As for the name of the group, I'm thinking about 'Knights of the Sun', how do you like it?"
 

Before Celestia gives you your first assignment, it's time to LEVEL UP! Each of you should do the following:

1. Pick one attribute to increase by 1 point.
2. Pick two skills to learn or increase by 1 point (you can pick one skill twice).

Rules:

1. The maximum value of an attribute or skill is 10.
2. You can't have more than 6 skills.
3. When you learn a new skill, it starts with a value of 3.
4. Extra skills (the ones at slots 3-6) can't have higher values than the cutie mark skill (slot 2).

Mango is filled with pride as she receives her sun-badge. She also approves heartily of the punnish oxymoronic sound of knights of the sun and offers jubilantly, in her head 'We will shine sunlight into the night. Blanket Equestria with sun. Glow without pride'

However, she still has swans on her mind so she ends up saying, "To the knights of the swan." as she raises her hoof to the others to herald the newly formed group.

Dr. Clue examines the badge before putting it on, but doesn't comment about it. "Yeah Knights of the Sun could work," she said. She didn't really have any feelings on that name unlike some other name she got addressed as. (Cough cough I wonder what that could be, cough.)

Samurai faces the princess and wears this new badge with honor!

But that name throws Samurai for a loop. "Knights of the Sun? Heh. Well, I am a samurai, so that's kind of a contradiction, but... If a knight is what the princess wants me to be, then a knight I shall be!" Samurai accepts. ... Then he looks back at his new friends. "Can one be both a samurai and knight at the same time?" He wonders.
