".... You can do healing magic too!?... Why not right?... An earth pony using magic..." Even though Diamond Tiara witnessed the powers of Fuoco first hoof, her mind still couldn't process it.

" Well what's done is done." Tiara said while sadly touching her scar. " I mean I don't blame them... They did try their best. And besides... No pony or any creature would cross their minds to ask an earth pony to do healing magic. Sure first aid but that's it."

As Fuoco took the food and questioned the system. Diamond Tiara would ponder and be at wonder at what she had spoken.

"A visitor to this town? Sure there's different cultures in different places. But one things for sure earth pony's don't use magic... And as mayor of this town, I'd prefer the earth ponies to stay in safety and let the guards do their job. An inexperienced fighter would just add in to the casualties and bolster the numbers of the infected.

"Besides, pretty much every nook and cranny of Equestria was already been discovered thanks to Starlight Glimmers expedition with the Princess. That's how we achieved world piece back then." She pondered and explained to Fuoco. 

"But of course your place seems to be an exception. In what part of Equestria are you, if you don't mind me asking? Better yet I think someone in the castle, would take a liking at you... She might even consider you an asset and let you join the expedition outside of Ponyville."

" You know I thought about you when we were having a meeting inside the castle. You'd be perfect in the expedition. But then I have no idea where you are and they'd probably think I'm crazy... But now I've finally found you! So what do you say? Come with me so I could introduce you to them, for the expedition. "

Fuoco raised an eyebrow at that, more than a bit annoyed at what she perceived as a blatantly racist statement, but she bit her tongue rather than reciprocate. Perhaps Diamond had simply misspoke when she compared earth ponies to inexperienced fighters, and implied that they were not among the guards.

She nodded, "I don't think I properly introduced myself when we first met, I am Fuoco of house Cantabile, the personal defenders of Lord Metro. I'm not much for geography, but I'm pretty sure my family's estate stood near the shore closest to Japone, a days journey from Marelin in Germaney." She sighed, "I say stood, as last I saw it was fully aflame and overrun." She looked down for a moment at that, but returned her attention to Diamond.

Diamond Tiara  was a bit overjoyed to hear that Fuoco would join the expedition.

" This is great news! But we should let you finish your food first." Diamond Tiara would leave her post and request someone from the back to take her place.

She'd join Fuoco at one of the make shift tables made from scraps to wait for her to finish her meal, before leaving for the castle.

At the table, Fuoco would notice that Diamond Tiara is looking at her... This won't last long though as she'd break this awkward exchange of look. 

"Hey...I can't help but noticed that I might have said something out of terms?" 

She'd then nervously hold her hooves together.

" Am I being too pushy? I mean... I'm not forcing you or anything? I tend to order around other ponies and usually get what I want."

She'd then looks at her cutie mark.

" I... Let's just say it's my talent to make pony say yes to my requests 90% of the time... "

Fuoco had been about to say something about being stared at by Diamond when she broke the silence,

Fuoco had been about to respond to that when Diamond continued, so she waited until Diamond was done.

She raised an eyebrow at that, "What, so like, passive mind control? Or do you just find yourself naturally charming?" She shrugged as she finished off her food, "Sorry it doesn't seem to work on me, I was trained since I was very young to resist persuasion, magical or otherwise. Rest assured that I accepted your offer willingly, as all this brooding in here is bad for my lungs. Regardless, who is this pony that I'm meeting? And what is this expedition that you've planned?"

" hahaha, no. Of course not.. dear Celestia I hope not...and I don't like saying to myself that I'm charming, it sounds like I'm bragging.... I'd like to think that I have a nice personality, and easily agreeable pony... Yeah that's the reason." Diamond Tiara assured herself. 

" For the expedition though.... Hmm I think it's best that it would be explained in the castle. While it is agreed upon by every important figure here in Ponyville, it is not only me who agreed on this.

This plan was set in motion by the head mistress Starlight Glimmer. I, the Mayor and Princess Flurry Heart agreed to it.

Hence you'll be meeting them to gain approval, because you already have mine." She proudly proclaims to Fuoco.

Fuoco looked concerned at the list of leadership, "That's it? I hadn't realized the damage was so severe. Or, and I hope this is the case, this just isn't the sort of expedition that requires top level leadership. Still though, you didn't answer my question: What sort of expedition is this?"

" Oh shoot, some context. Um... I guess long story short, we are gonna go outside and find survivors. make contact outside. Gain information on what's happening in Equestria. You know come to think of it, I think Starlight Glimmer did this on purpose so she can explore Equestria again, hahaha." Tiara would then hold back as she noticed it was such a bad joke at such a time as this.

" .... Sorry... That joke was not well put."

Diamond Tiara would wait for her to finish up her meal and wait for further questions she might want to ask.

As they reach their destination, Fuoco would notice a big difference from this place and from where she was.

There were more guards stationed here. the tents are well kept and the place is much cleaner, unlike the Dump she was from a couple of days ago.

A few more steps and the shinning castle is at view. 

" Here we are, the Castle of Friendship!... Heh not to brag but the princess was one of my students before. " She bragged.

Fuoco nodded at the explanation of the expedition, ignoring Diamond's poor joke, "That makes sense. How far away would the next town be? Are we talking a few days journey? A few weeks? I assume we're going on hoof, or do you have trains or airships available?"

Fuoco was not impressed by the state of the castle, sure it was beautiful, but it made the place she had been staying look like a slum. She was willing to bet that the ponies staying here had better food and lodging than she and the others with her had been given. Lord Metro would never have put up with this level of disparity. Sure his manor was nicer than the rest, but not to such a degree, and he had opened his doors to all under his lordship during the previous conflict, eating the same food at the same table as many of the lowliest of them.

She also found the name of the castle silly, but she didn't comment on it, simply raising an eyebrow as if impressed, "Nice place. I assume the rest of the town was similarly pretty before everything happened? I wish I had the chance to see it before."

She was genuinely surprised to hear that the princess had been a student of Diamond's, "Really? You can't be much older than me, and I'm just barely marrying age, and I thought you were the mayor? How old exactly is this princess?"

" of course it was... I might add that it's quite beautiful. What kind of a mayor do you think I am. " She proudly stated.

" I had big plans for my home... Then all this happened. " She sadly said.

She would then quickly change her mood and became patriotic in a sense. 

" That's why it's best to keep the castle safe and standing strong and ever so beautiful. This is the only last symbol of ponyville's glory days, So the citizens would not give up hope if they still see our castle still standing. Then when the screening is done with the survivors and Head Mistress Starlight gives the signal, we can finally loosen the lockdown and everyone can visit the castle and be with their loved ones. " She said with her chest up high. 

"But.... Not all is bad... The only thing good I could think of  that happened here is you though. I get to meet an earth pony who does magic! " She smiled as she said those words to Fuoco.

" Why thank you for the compliment. When I was young I was able to skip a grade and able to apply as a teacher in my school. This helped me gain experience to help me further down the path of being mayor. And during those years I was able to lecture one of the best students. Of course she was an alicorn by birth and all she needed were not out of reach... But still... She was humble and kind. She did not take for granted what was given to her. And learned and grew as fast as she can so one day she could rule Equestria." Diamond Tiara proudly said with teary eyes.

" She's just like me..." She added while having tears of joy.

That inspired me even more to become mayor. to help her when her time comes.

Now I've been mayor for half a year and I was doing a really banged up job... "

"But Now I worry.... She is still young as you've noticed, and is now having a lot of responsibilities on her shoulder. This is her first week of actually being a princess... Holding the lives of many..."

" I've been around and experienced a lot of horrible things happened in Equestria.... But this is the first time I have to handle it with responsibility... "

" Luckily, you're there to help me out. "

She'd then noticed that she hasn't directly answered Fuoco's question and she's being given that look.

" Oh she's 12... I guess?" 

" And now before I open the door to the castle... I'm gonna be more selfish and not only ask to help me out... But Equestria itself... Will you help us? " She asked Fuoco with sincerity.

Fuoco was mostly relieved by Diamond's clarification as to the state of things. At the very least, the class divide wasn't as strong as she had initially assumed.

Alicorns were not immune to the power of musical persuasion, and in fact were among the first to be targeted when the power was first discovered. The sirens had gone for them first, turned their power against their subjects. There was nothing more terrifying than an alicorn under the control of a malevolent entity, except of course a malevolent alicorn in full control of their faculties.

Fuoco had never met an alicorn herself, but she had been told stories. Any alicorn discovered in her world had to be dealt with swiftly before it became too powerful to stop, lest there be a repeat of the first calamity that had torn the world apart.

Diamond Tiara was happy that Fuoco considered her, her friend.

" Thank you so much! I'm actually quite honored that you considered me being your friend!" Then she pondered on what she meant about her loyalty to Equestria. It only confused her but she paid it no mind as she is more over joyed that she had a new friend with her.

 

"Alright let's head in!"

She'd knock at the door and the Guards from the other side would open it for her.

The interior was clean and nice, but was quite noisy from all the foals inside playing inside the castle. Their joyous Lough and playing would echo through the halls. Some of the foals would recognize you and ask to play with you. Some of them are the foals you've rescued.

"It's the spell slinging Earth pony!"

"Do some magic! "

The room got more boisterous. That it attracted alot of attention.

 The guards would ponder on what these foals are talking about, until a specific mare would break the noise...

She stands proudly Infront of the others.

Diamond Tiara would bow gracefully Infront of the unicorn and greet her.

" Good morning Head mistress. I came here to recruit her."

The head mistress would look at you from head to hoof.

" ...A spell slinging earth pony?" She questioned as she looked at the foals, nodding their heads in agreement smiling.

Fuoco smiled at hearing the foals, relieved that they at least had enough to be happy in the midst of this trouble. She didn't start singing there because with all the foals running about she didn't to risk any of them touching it and getting hurt.

Fuoco had followed Diamond's example in bowing until she heard that this was just a headmistress, and not royalty, at which point she stood straight again.

In regards to the headmistress' question Fuoco nodded, "Fully trained and combat ready flautist of the school of pyromancy, second order, specializing in ranged and support magics. Fuoco of house Cantabile, the personal defenders of Lord Metro."

She didn't know for sure, but she felt a formal introduction was in order for this unicorn.

 Starlight Glimmer was quite intrigued at Fuoco's introduction. She could be seen jotting down notes as Fuoco introduced herself.

"How come I'm only hearing this now Diamond Tiara? I didn't know you had such a... Unique friend with you? You should've introduced me to her post haste."

She would then gracefully introduce herself, "My Name is Head Mistress Starlight Glimmer. Right hoof mare of Princess Twilight Sparkle."

Diamond Tiara would then interrupt and explain. 

" We'll head mistress... We really haven't known each other that long... Apparently it seems she's just visiting our humble village... Buuut then the purple creatures attacked and now she's kinda stuck here? I think? " Diamond Tiara tried to explain. 

" yes... I see... Her introduction to her home town and allegiance is quite foreign to me... And here I thought I've explored the whole Equestria... "

She then ponders and observes Fuoco from head to hoof, but it seems her horn is lighting up, but glitching.

She'd soon rub her horn, as if she got hurt for some reason.

" Hmmm something's wrong with the flow of magic here." Starlight Glimmer proclaimed with a hint of confusion and frustration. 

" Anyway... What is with this magic you are talking about? I've never heard of Earth pony casting spells before."

She questioned.

The breakfast bell rang. Silver is already at the table examining the food. As usual, it was pancakes and hot chocolate just like his mother would serve, although she would add some slices of bread and melted cheese. The memory brought a pleasant smile in his lips.

It wouldn't take long before the others answer the calling. Shallow and Blu arrived and begin snacking on their breakfast. Unlike Shallow, Silver was a disciplined eater; he cut out a small piece of his pancake and ate them methodically. Whether he's off-put by Shallow's lack of mannerism or not, he decided to kept it to himself. He did showed a reaction when the shark-pony bit off every spoon and fork given to her, wincing and giving her a wide-eyed stare. Given that she's a hybrid of an aquatic predator, her tooth must be sharp and tough to break steel.

Fuoco raised an eyebrow as the Headmistress apparently scanned her, "I don't appreciate having magic used on me without my consent by the way. And come now, even untrained earth ponies have potent magic in their connection to the ground. Sure, it might not be traditional spells, but it is foolish to ignore the magic that earth ponies have. Is it so hard to think that we might find another way to focus that magic?"

She sighed, "Maybe a demonstration will enlighten you? You seem skeptical after all."

She would motion for the foals to back away as she sat down, pulling out her flute she started to play. It was not a happy tune, or a particularly pleasant one to listen to, but that's how fire magic typically were: Harsh, rapid paced, and biting. But as she played a ring of fire appeared in the air around her, raising and lowering with her tune, then expanding out and contracting in, before it lifted up above her and started to spin, forming into a sphere of fire above her.

The fire disappeared when she stopped playing, she returned her flute to her back and stood back up. "There's something about this place that makes my music harder to play, less potent. Maybe the lack of other trained musicians has left the field stiff?"

Lyra would ponder a bit before answering Blu's question.

"... Kind of? I mean nobody's home and I think no one would notice or be shocked that their stuff would go missing..." She shrugged.

" But if your gonna find copper and gold? I don't think you'd find much of those things in houses... Maybe the jewelry store?... Or Rarity's boutique? But I suggest you don't touch Rarity's stuff... She gets really upset if you touch her stuff without consent." She recalled.

" We can always mine for it... Although that would be dangerous... Plus I'm not skilled at finding minerals. "

Then she recalled a certain Scientist.

" OOHHH! Doctor Hooves!" She shouted.

" He's a smart pony too! He should definitely have what your looking for... You know... Since he's into science and what not." She smiled.

In her mind she'd put two and two together and ended up with that conclusion... no one knows how she processed it that way. But it seems she has a point.

Fuoco's performance would stun the crowd in more ways than one. The guards would drop their jaws and weapons, the fillies would clap with glee and excitement, while the Head Mistress focus on you would become more extreme, to the point of excitement.

" I've never been so... So excited in my whole life before! New findings! More things to learn!" The Head Mistress  would grab a pen and paper and jot down notes with her magic. Although it seems she is having a hard time using magic.

" Interesting.... Interesting indeed... True, what you said about earth ponies.... But fire magic? Please do not underestimate what you have done. Even unicorns need talent to do what you just deed!"

" And that flute of yours? Do you need it to cast it or does it just assist you? And if so... Then that means you can teach others to do magic too? Then even pegasi can do it? I'ved observed what you did the best I could do... In it's very basic core... It's still the same... Emotions... Feelings... It what drives it right? But through music I guess? Fascinating.... "

" While unicorns use emotions through our mind... Imagination..." Then the head mistress tried to hum.

At first nothing comes out, but as she adjusted her pitch and tone. A spark would come up.

" Hmmm my imagination instinctively kicks in to do magic though... But I can feel it... And it's less straining... Hmm I wonder." She would distance herself and cast a simple magic on her hooves.

" Hmmm... Interesting." She'd quickly put it out and leaves the group.

Diamond Tiara would then intrude her leave and ask, " UM! HEAD MISTRESS!... Excuse me but... We need to discuss something... Remember? We have a meeting."

Starlight Glimmer would be pulled out from her thoughts and into reality.

" Ah yes... The princess is quite busy so she gave me the approval and plan for our mission. If she's joining, then you have my approval... With her on the team everything would go smoothly." She continued to talk while leaving.

She'd eventually enter a room and out of site living both Fuoco, Diamond Tiara, the fillies and the guards in a state of wonder. 

But apparently the fillies would be the one to break out of it and continue playing, which soon follows the adults to snap out from.

" Anyway... I guess that's that.... That was... Somewhat of a waste of time?" She questioned.

" In the end, I'm the one who's going to explain all the details hahaha. "

" Anyway let's go to the war room and I'll explain it there... "

She'd wave goodbye to the fillies and guide Fuoco to the room.

In it was a big hall. At the center was a big crystal table with a holographic map on its center. On top of it is a decorative roots of a big tree.

Diamond Tiara would go at the opposite side of the table and begins.

" Before I start our briefing, is there any questions you want to ask so I could tackle it on the way and emphasize it on the briefing?"

She started looking a little overwhelmed, "Well, it's not that simple. I-"

Ultimately she was not impressed by Starlight's sudden departure, or at having been interrupted. She just rolled her eyes and muttered some less than positive remarks under her breath as she returned her attention back to Diamond.

Blu's mention of a jewelry store and his idea of looking for raw resources got attention from Silver. He swallowed his food before talking to him “You should ask the owner for their resources.” he wasn't going to allow Blu to turn to stealing regarding they would break the already fragile impression of the SMILE on them. He's a town guard, not an opportunistic thief.

"The rest would head west where the hive resides.... Then the east where the griffons and dragons are. and at the south where the hypogryphs, fish folks, felines and canines reside."

" Of course that still depends if we can easily fend ourselves off from the creatures that lurk in our forest... Without the rail station, the purple creatures that roamed Equestria's not the only problem we have now... " She worries.

Blu ignored most of Lyra's suggestions, he had suggested the jewelry store first after all, but he was intrigued by the idea of another scientist in the town, "Well, unless he's done research into electricity and magnetism, two fields I've thusfar found the town lacking in, I'm not too hopeful that he'd have the resources I need, but maybe. Is he still around? Or would I just be looting his house too?"

In regards to Silver's remarks he rolled his eyes, "If the store owner were around I would have asked them already. I'm asking if it's alright given they haven't been to their shop since before I started keeping an eye on it. Can't exactly ask someone who's missing or dead. You aren't concerned about the stolen, sorry, 'scavenged' silverware we're using after all, so what's the harm if I scavenge some wire to better equip myself? It's not like I'm taking the gemstones, although..."

He hadn't considered it previously, but with a good quality gem he might be able to make a powerful laser. He made a note to start theories on that once he finished his last iteration of his magic-powered railgun.

Fuoco looked surprised, "You're coming too? I thought you were the mayor, aren't you needed here? And yaks? I'm surprised any of them would be so far from their lands. I've never met one before, nor do I know anyone who's seen one, the ones I heard of were masters of throat singing, their mountains reverberating their magic to make their lands unapproachable." She sighed, "I suppose they aren't so impressive here? Or perhaps impressive in a different way?"

" You know what? why not go ahead and roam around for a bit after our meal? That way you guys get to have some sunlight in your body and some exercise. And don't worry Blu, I got you covered. Doctor Hooves and the jeweler are a close friend of mine." She suggested to them.

" Do I get to eat the purple creatures? " Shallow added.

" As long as they're pure purple creatures I guess? "She replied.

Shallow was pumped and readied herself to go outside.

Apparently she didn't wait for any of you and just headed outside after all, like a dog off it's leash.

If not, then we don't have anything to worry about. Although, hypothetically, is there a concern if I burn down part of the forest? It's not like a protected area or anything right? I mean, I'm going to do whatever I have to to keep myself and the others safe, but I'd like to know exactly how careful I need to be."

" Fuoco my dear friend.... May that place be protected or not... Please avoid spreading fire? Or burning a forest... Every action has its consequences... And burning a forest has alot of cons...Just be mindful and responsible on your actions? We don't want the Kirin's and elks to hate us... I'm sure you can burn them without collateral damage right? " She worried.
