music Dubstep invasion?

I don't know about you but where I'm from it seems everypony is obsessed with dub/drumstep and no other kinds of electric music. How come they don't bother with other genres (house, hardstyle). It also appears that they only artist they bother with are Deadmau5 and Skrillex. I'm dead serious, thats the ONLY artist people listen to. Wish I was in the Netherlands...

untrue! me and ProdjectRKA are DJ's on here and we get noticed alot. RKA post's his music all the time, actually.RKA is hardstyle mixes and i'm liquid so they get equal love around here!:3

This is true. What I see/hear is that people mostly only listen to Deadmau5 and Skrillex. The artist I just hate so terribly much is Skrillex. Don't ask why, because I don't want to give my long technical explanation again

I am a Deadmau5 fan, however. x)

 

Now, as Crank mentioned, I am mostly into the hard dance scene. That's my main-genre of all electronic music. But honestly, though, I am more or less an all-arounder when it comes to music.

Meh I had the impression that the Brony fandom as a whole was obsessed with Dubstep and Electro House genres.

Most other genres seem to get swept under the rug.

 

Balloon Party was released and it pretty much confirmed my dubstep suspicions.

But what surprised me was the 3 of the songs that weren't dubstep were actually Post-Hardcore related in genre.

Breaking Bonds is probably my all time favorite song out of the Brony Fandom.

 

I like pretty much all genres of music, depends on my mood really.

Though lately my mood has been telling me that I am getting a bit tired of the Dubstep fascination.

Yeah, we are. And we're mostly obsessed with the skrillex-style, which is kind of sad to see...

I'm RIGHT on with you. Like Deadmau5, Skrillex... yean. I'm more into trance/hardtrance/hardstyle, but I'm also into a little of everything (alternative, classical)

well, for the record, I like some Skrillex, more of Deadmau5, but I like more than that. some of my favorite electronic songs are Glitch Mob, Daft Punk and Justice (not sure what electronic genre this falls into). I also like some trance and hardstyle.

I do like Dubstep but am very picky over it. The Distance is my favorite Dubstep artist. Skrillex just doesn't even compare to him. Distance is just so much more fluid for lack of a better term. There does seem to be a lot more skrillex like Dubstep but it could just be me noticing it more too. For me, there is no genre I won't listen to (outside of country), its just a matter of finding the good stuff which can prove difficult (see: Trance).

 

That said, I've been gorging on VGM and 8 bit lately. Frank Klepacki and Jarrid Mendelson did a heck of a job on Tiberian Sun's OST.

Well me being me, and me being weird, I like most genres of music, dubstep included.

But I have to say, it does seem like a lot of bronies like dubstep over others, and indeed Deadmau5 and Skrillex seem to be pretty popular currently.

You, sir, are making a generalization. Skillet is best band to me.

To be sure, there are many people who like Skrillex and Deadmau5, but progressive house is MUCH better (hint hint ArchiePony).

Skillet will always top all in my book, though... at the current moment.

I like all the genres. I don't even know what genre some of the songs i like belong in. Skrillex and Deadmau5 aren't bad either, but not anywhere near my favourites. I do have 3 songs from skrillex in my playlist none from Deadmau5 unless you count the remix by Madeon..

 

As for dubstep or drumstep, i usually think about MonsterCatMedia or some Brony artists when those genres are mentioned. Oh and Knife Party is an artist i should check a bit "closer", but i have been too lazy to do that x)

 

But in general, i think my taste in music won't match with many other people. It will be one sided dislike (or hate, since for some reason people hate so much), where other people dislike what i like, yet i don't dislike what they like.

I've never been into electronical msic... And to tell the truth, I didn't even know what dubstep was until there came a few memes about it.

 

I've been very poor at listening to radio or listening other music than what is in my... Ehm... "comfort zone", so to speak. But one day when I was in the car, I opened the radio and BAM.... I wondered where is the music, is there something wrong with my radio or something...?

 

But yeah, truth to be told, I don't even know other artists than Skrillex and Deadmau5... (but I'm not into this kinda music, so I guess I can be forgoiven...? XD) And this only indicates that they're just having their moment in the spotlight. But the music industry is always chnging, so I believe that soon we will have some other DJ's...! I'm sure that other genres will get through, ofc. X3
