I knew most if not all of the lessons when I watched FIM, so they didn't really affect my life. However, take The Ticket Master from Season 1, you have a dilemma of which friends to choose, but that episode is a copy of an episode from My Little Pony Tales from back in the day, called And The Winner is..., which executed the situation much better, instead of Celestia giving everyone tickets just because, no one went and stayed home together (the more realistic way).

Most of the friendship lessons were based of other shows that had already done or executed them. If I had never watched older shows, I think FIM would have had a greater impact on me.
