I've been thinking, if Hasbro really tried and rebooted G4 to try and stay closer to the original show, would it work well? :ooh:

I feel like it could, but Hasbro would probably screw it up somehow, because y'know Hasbro:yeahno:

What do y'all think though? I'm curious. Would it work well, would it not, and why? I'd love to hear what you all have to say. :mlp_yeehaa:

I think it's too early to be talking about the possibility of a reboot of G4. Though I do think there's a possibility of improving things with hindsight in mind. Two characters that would benefit a lot from a reboot would probably be Celestia and RD

A reboot would definitely help a lot of underdeveloped characters flourish.

I have no idea, I'm not a fan of rebooting, I wouldn't reject it but I would like more a sequel to G4 or a midquel telling what happened in between "The Ending of the End" and "The Last Problem", I think the original G4 still had a lot of potential for new stories, but if a reboot is the way...then....well, they could do anything they want but they would need to wait for April 2025, their contract with Discovery Family ends in March 2025, before that they can't make a reboot that stays closer to the original show.

I personally disagree with those who say that G5 still has a long way to go or that still it's too soon to think about another generation, for me it's very possible that G5 will be already ending its run in 2025,. Now what Hasbro will do after March 2025, no one knows. If a G4 reboot happens, then I can be sure they'll do lots of fanserviceish stuff and nostalgia baits, they'll also make the art style very similar or nearlu identical to that of the original G4, as that art style caught the attention of everyone, something that G5's failed to do.

I don't know, I really don't know what to expect from a G4 reboot, of course, I want to see more of Twilight and her friends and that big world from G4, but but no one knows what will happen :mlp_wat:

I think I would dislike a reboot if just because it ruins the clean generation flow that MLP has had since the 80's (though G5's timeline kinda already did that). There are a lot of things I wouldn't mind being retconned and done better with hindsight, though, especially in the later seasons :scoots:

I personally wouldn’t be a fan of a reboot. Feels like they almost always just end up paling in comparison to the original work. The Evangelion rebuilds for example were genuinely very good movies, and were even made by Anno, the original creator. But they still paled in comparison to his original show and movie.

For shows or movies that didn’t do too well originally I think reboots can work. Or for comics, they love reboots. But something like FiM or Evangelion? They almost feel doomed to be a disappointment due to the absolutely huge shoes they have to fill. You get that with sequels as well for sure, but to a lesser degree.

I would personally be a bigger fan of them making G6 or whatever a completely clean slate without any strings attached to the previous gens. No worries about who holds what rights, or worries about trying to fit in previous characters or narratives.

If they really wanted to stick with G4 characters maybe they could do a prequel sort of thing involving Luna and Celestia and their origin and stories before the whole Nightmare Moon thing. Although I question just how successful that would be when it comes to making toys and stuff lol.

I do think that if they were to do a reboot, it would be better if they went and did a prequel/sequel series. I feel a series that follows Luster Dawn would be interesting!

Sequel set before G5 would be cool too! Honestly as long as it isnt like a direct reboot of FiM with the mane 6 being the focus I think a series like that could work.

A reboot would be bad. But if they picked up where they left off with Luster Dawn, it would actually be cool.

Considering I felt like the show went downhill after season 6 to the point where it seemed like the writers were running out of ideas, I don't think a reboot of FIM would last longer than a single season if it had the same focus as the main series, and there would be a high chance that it wouldn't be enjoyable. FIM lasted longer than it should have in my opinion. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if they rebooted Equestria Girls, even if it was just for one more movie, since it didn't get the finale it deserved.
