[Dynamo Pad 11,536]

Storyline: 

As your OC arrives in the gathering spot in Ponyville, the can see the stage, decorations and lights strewn about to help add for special effects. Guests that came to watch the show could sit or stand to watch the show unfold. Along with other ponies gathering to participate and/or watch.

There are several things that you can do in this situation.

You can:

Head on over to Dynamo Pad, who's holding a clipboard and gathering names for the Goof Off.

Interact with other participants that are taking part in the event.

Do something else.

It's completely up to your OC on what you'd like to do, before the show starts. Once everyone is signed in, everyone can take their seats and wait for their name to be called up.

Have fun and do your best, everyone!

As you make your way towards the theater stage for this year's, Goof Off. You can see multiple things when taking look around the location. A stage to walk up and down from to take center stage, adorned with curtains and lights to brighten things up if day turned to night. Enough space for the audience to sit and watch, and stands for those that wish to get a snack or beverage. Ponies and other creatures began making their way to their seats as they carried a beverage, treat or both as they were ready for a good laugh.

Meanwhile, Dynamo Pad, one of the hosts for the event, was going over preparations one last time. “Alright. The stage is set, plenty of room for the participants and the audience, treats and beverages are a plenty. Special surprise that I have in store behind the stage. Perfect!” He muttered softly to himself, while checking boxes as he looked around. “All we need now are the participants for the Goof Off and then we’re ready to party. I can’t wait to see what kind of comedy acts we’ll have this year. While he was feeling a bit nervous, he smiled as he was really looking forward to the festivities. He took a deep breath, exhaling slowly as he gave a nod to nobody in particular. A way to mentally prepare himself for the fun that was about to be had.

[Shiny Silvermoon]

*Without a warning, Shiny Silvermoon bursted out from one of the many boxes of spare decorations that @Dynamo Pad has been checking just a moment ago. Not only was the box not big enough to contain a full grown unicorn, but the fact that there was nopony inside it, when Dyny last opened it, made it all the more confusing. However, Shiny wasn't alone! She was holding in her right hoof the one and only Croissanto, the croissant-shaped puppet!*

Shiny : "YIIIIIPIE!!! IT'S FINALLY TIME TO SHINE!!!" *The mare beamed with a huge smile stretching the corners of her mouth.*

Croissanto : "It's about time! Do you realize how uncomfortable it is to sit on a bunch of garlands? Me neither! Shiny kept me in her hooves the whole time!" *Croissanto said to Dyny.*

Shiny : "Oh! Oh! Oh! I have a Silkytastic humor show to entertain the crowd! Let me know when we are ready to go!"

I've not found my talent for the Goof Off event

Titanium trots up towards the stage, she wasn't able to sleep a wink, too nervous about the upcoming goof off. As she approaches @Dynamo Pad she looks over the preparations. Seats, stage... And is that...? "Oh I have got to get myself a cider" she blurts out loud, not looking where she's going and almost walking right into Dynamo. She pulls her attention away from the promise of treats just in time, stopping almost too close to the event organiser.

"Oops! Sorry Dynamo, was so busy admiring what you've set up here!" She pauses, an obviously forced smile across her face. "Deeefinitely not daydreaming about drinking myself into a stupor." She chuckles nervously. She couldn't even remember why she signed up for this, a dare, a trick, whatever the reason, she's stuck with it now. May as well try her best.

[Trilby Hatter]

Just as @Dynamo Pad is taking inventory, a pale pony in a fancy hat brushes past him and speaks into a microphone.

"Welcome one and all, and remember... This year's Goof Off competition is sponsored by Trilby Hatter's Headwear Emporium! If you want a quality hat that suits your style and will last a lifetime, always trust Trilby's. Again, that's Trilby Hatter's Headwear Emporium! Ask about our two-for-one deal, for a limited time only."

Turning the mic off, which doesn't seem to be attached to anything, he pats Dynamo on the shoulder. "Don't question it, good sir, just roll with it. Trust me, we both need this sponsorship right now. By the way, how set are you on hats? Ever considered a fully-domed snapback?"

"Ellery, did you make sure to pack all the masks?"

"il Dottore... Arlecchino... Tartaglia... I remembered to pack them all!"

A one winged changeling was talking to a small white earth pony who was looking through a suitcase filled with odd looking masks.

"Perfect! It was a pain to get those over dimensionally. And the other actors?"

"I don't know! Arlie swore he and the others would be on time, and I trust em."

"Well here's hoping they get here soon. I still can't believe I found an equestrian commedia troupe, even more so that they were happy to help with this performance!"

"You still haven't told me exactly what commedia delartie was, Cimex."

Something seemed to light up in the changelings eyes.

"I never did? Well, Commedia Del'arte was an early form of professional theater that came out of Italy..."

 

Ellery sighed. Cimex was nice, but boy they could go on for a while if you got them started.

 

This was gonna be a while...

Skylight was about to approach Dynamo when Shiny leaped out of one of the boxes. 

"Yikes!" she gasped, stumbling back and tripping over herself before falling to the ground. 

She glanced up and noticed Shiny as she got herself up. "Oh, it's you, Shiny. ...How did you do that?" She asked, glancing at the unicorn in confusion.

She would then turn her attention to Dynamo. "Hello Dynamo. How's it going? I heard there's a comedy event happening here. I'm not sure if I'm going to join, but I would be interested in watching," she said.

She would also notice Titanium and say hi to her as well.

While Dynamo was busy backstage going over his list, he thought he had seen a shift in one of the boxes out of the corner of his eye. Turning towards said box, the explosion of the box caused the unicorn to jump in fear. A yelping shout escaping him, before realizing it was @Shiny Silvermoon, who had made her appearance from the box. "Shiny! It's really good to see you, but what are you doing here? How did you get in that box?" Many questions went through his mind as he wondered how a pony could fit in a box that small. That felt like something for Pinkie, but he couldn't question it. He did happen to notice Croissant's, the croissant-shaped puppet in her hooves. 

"I do recall the garland's, but Pinkie had mentioned that those were being saved for Hearth's Warming, or something along those lines. I wonder why they were here, but I didn't think to question it." Dynamo knew never to question Pinkie or her methods to her party planning as it was the number one rule of Pinkie Pie. "Silkytastic humor!? Perfect! I have you written down on my clipboard and you'll be first to go up, I just need to wait for anyone else that signed up to arrive and we'll begin momentarily." Dynamo smiled, writing down on his clipboard as he started to make his way off the stage.

As he continued to walk around, the gaming unicorn took in the scene before him. Seeing everyone smiling, laughing and excited for the show put a smile on his face. He wasn't watching where he was going, before nearly bumping into @Wizard Titanium. "Whoops!" He stopped in his step and jumped back. Almost as if he was trying to swerve around the oncoming pony collision. "It's okay and I should be the one to apologize. I'm really sorry, Titanium. I was lost in thought that I wasn't watching where I was going. It's really great to see you again." Dynamo smiled sheepishly, the near collision had almost caused him to lose his magical grip on his clipboard. He had remembered meeting Titanium before, so it was great to see a familiar friend. "Thank you and I'm really glad that you like the setup. I had some help with this as I wanted to give the stage the Goof Off feeling only a true Goof Off competition deserves." He chuckled with a grin, before a thought occurred to him. "Actually, good question. I take it that you being here means that you're interested in taking part in the Goof Off!? If so, then you'll be going second and are on the list. I look forward to seeing what you have in store."

With a perk of his ears, Dynamo turned towards the stage as another pony had been speaking into the microphone. He had heard the name Trilby, but he didn't recall the name of this pony's shop business. Once Trilby had finished his advertising, Dynamo had seen the unicorn make his way off of the stage. "Um...o-okay." Dynamo could only respond with a confused nod from Trilby's explanation. "I wasn't expecting any advertising, but I think that's perfectly okay. I don't know if I'm doing any sponsorship, but I hope your advertisement goes well. By the way, have we met before. You seem sort of familiar." Dynamo couldn't place his hoof upon it, but he felt that he had met Trilby once. "I don't think I've ever heard of a fully-domed snapback before. What's that like? As for hats, I was actually gifted a Bavarian hat I received a long time ago from a friend." He smiled, recalling his friend from Germaneigh, who had gifted him his hat. Blinking in realization, the gaming unicorn had quickly shook his head to get back on track. "Actually, since you were here to advertise, I was wondering if you were interested in taking part for the Big Goof Off. I'm taking down names if you're up for some fun."

"Excuse me and I'm really sorry if I'm interrupting. I hope that everything is okay." He started, taking note of the masks that had taken his interest. "Those are some really cool looking masks. Where did you get them? Actually, are you by any chance taking part in the Big Goof Off today? If so, I'm taking down names on my clipboard. Are one of you taking part, or are you both working together as a duo? If so, then what are you names? My name is Dynamo Pad, but my friends call me Dynamo. It's nice to meet you both."

Perking his ears once more, Dynamo had thought he heard a gasp from the stage. Turning towards the source, he smiled as he recognized @Skylight Scintillate Skylight, who had been chatting together with Shiny. "Skylight!" He called out to her, before making her way over towards the group. "It's really nice to see you. How have you been? Also, I agree with your question on Shiny as I'm curious how she did that." He says, tilting his head as he still couldn't make heads or tails on how such a feat was possible. "It's going pretty well, by the way. It looks like everypony's excited for The Big Goof Off! You're right on the comedy event and you're more than welcome to take part if you're interested. If you do plan to watch, then that's more than okay, as well. If you do change you're mind, please let me know and I'll add you to the list. In the meantime, have yourself some treats, a beverage and enjoy chatting with everyone. Once we get everyone signed up, we'll begin the show!"

Shiny : "Did what? I didn't do anything special!" *The confused mare answered, as she rubbed her head with one hoof.*

Croissanto : "You mean that you didn't do anything special YET, since our humor show isn't started! Trust me, you're in for an experience that you both won't forget about!" *The puppet in the unicorn's right hoof said to Skylight and Dynamo.*

Titanium shuffles in place, wondering if she just had a way to get out of this... And then hears she is, in fact, on the list. "Oh, yep, that's me! Ready and raring to go!..." She waves at the Unicorn as he leaves to talk to others. "Yep... Definitely not terrified... I think it's time for a cider." She sighs to herself before heading over to the drinks, searching for the strongest thing they have. "Can't go too crazy, but something to take the edge off would be helpful." She murmurs while surveying what drinks are on offer. It doesn't take her long to pick something out and chugs the first cup before grabbing a second to sip while she wanders around and meets others. "I wonder who else is here" she absent-mindedly says out loud. She spots @Shiny Silvermoon playing with a puppet, probably practicing... As long as she doesn't go crazy and freeze everyone... "I already have cold-hooves, I don't need them to actually be cold." Titanium pauses, wondering if that's a line she could actually use... "That was terrible... I'm going to need more drinks." She turns back to the table and grabs another cider.

Trilby adjusts his collar and then looks Dynamo over. "Hmm... You seem familiar. Were you ever in Las Pegasus? Jazz Fest '03? Or maybe we met at Zelda Con that one time in Fillydelphia? Eh, it doesn't matter. Look, let's just stick together, kid. We'll go places. Your contest will make my business look good, and maybe my business will bring in more ponies to the event. It's a win-win. My sponsorship helps us both out!" Trilby pats his head. "...Taking part? Oh no, no, comedy is not my strong point. I'm here to advertise, that means I get to be part of the panel of judges. I doubt any pony would find me funny anyways." Trilby rubs the back of his neck with visible self-doubt.

"...But hay! Since you asked, there are a few variations of a ball cap. Most have a round or tapered dome. Great for kids, but not always so great for adult ponies with bigger heads. Fully domed just means the dome, or crown, is more full. Typically, you see full domes on trucker hats, but you can find them in a number of sports caps. And by the way, do you like a flat brim or a curved brim? Everypony has their own preference on that." Trilby begins to rattle on. Once someone gets him talking about his passion for hats, the flood gates open!

[Moonlight Wane]

Moonlight walks towards the seats with a banana in his wing, when he sees Titanium with a glass of cider. He approaches her and waits until she finishes talking to other ponies, before wrapping his wing around her. "Hey Titanium! You aren't nervous, are you? Don't worry, I'm sure you'll do great."

She then notices Moonlight is carrying a banana, she gestures towards it with her hoof, "I hope you aren't planning on throwing fruit at the other contestants."

Shiny : "I'm doing great! Thanks for asking, Sky! What I'll do is sort of a surprise but all you need to know is that it's an humor show!" *Shiny Silvermoon responded to @Skylight Scintillate with gleefulness and excitment in her voice. The mare was clearly thrilled by the Big Goof Off.*

Croissanto : "I'm also doing alright, in case you wonder." *The croissant-shaped puppet said with a little bit of sarcasm.*

Shiny : "Oh don't be so bitter, Croissanto! Keep that for when we will be on the stage!" *The unicorn playfully said to the puppet in her hoof. She then left a giggle escape from her mouth.*

*As @Wizard Titanium and @Nitobit Moonlight joined the conversation, Shiny decided to socialize with the two of them. She thought to herself that there was no better way to start off a discussion with somepony than reminding them of potentially traumatizing events.*

Shiny : "Howdy, Titanium! How have you been since that time you almost had a burn out, after the Running of the Leaves? Those were fun memories!" *She said to the mare, while a genuine smile was stamped on her face.*

Croissanto : "Oh a batpony! I'm living with a pony obsessed by the Moon and a fruitbat who happens to be her pet! Now, I get to meet the two combined. I've been wondering why the royal guard batponies aren't doing the nightshifts at the Canterlot Castle. Maybe you can answer my question!" *Croissanto asked Moonlight Wane.*

*A portal appears and Commander Zhabik Klavik and Anarchylight come out.

"Anarchylight, are you sure he'll come?"

*Anarchylight turns to Commander Zhabik Klavik and says.

"He might come, but I'm not sure. He wanted to be part of this event too, but because he's busy he might not come."

Moonlight chuckles. "I was thinking about making someone slip on the peel on the stage. It has to make ponies laugh. If it doesn't work, at least I have a snack."

Titanium rolled her eyes at @Nitobit Moonlights comment "I swear, if you plant that banana and I'm the one that slips... I'm making sure any paint spilled lands directly onto you." She playfully jabs the bat pony, knowing she would totally dump a bucket of paint over him if he sabotaged her.

When Moonlight @Nitobit approaches, Skylight would say hi to him as well.

"Ooh cool, you're a professional? What do you plan on doing?" Skylight asked.

Titanium turns back towards @Skylight Scintillate with a wry smile across her face "Sorry about him, he never grew up." She says, hoping @Nitobit Moonlight heard her. "It's a pleasure to meet you! I've already been signed up to enter, though uh, I'm a professional painter, not much of a jokester, so I'm going to be trying something... New." She ends her works with a forced smile, poorly hiding her nerves as her voice cracks. She clears her throat "Anyway, do you have anything planned?"

While mid conversation, Titanium suddenly finds all of her hairs stand on end at the sudden voice of a @Shiny Silvermoon behind her. She straightens herself out and turns with an exaggerated enthusiasm. "Haha! Shiny! Yes it has been... Too long. I do hope you aren't here to turn me into a snowmare again?" She gestures towards the sky "I've been rather enjoying the warmer summer weather!" Titanium chuckles.

I don't know much about royal guard bat ponies. I've never been in the castle at night, so... hey, wait, did you just imply I'm a pet!?" Moonlight glowered at Croissanto.

*Shiny Silvermoon gazed up at the sky, as Titanium @Wizard gestured toward it. She also made the eyes of her puppet roll up to do the same. Then, the unicorn's eyes went back to the paint artist. Giggles slipped out from between her lips.*

Shiny : "Hehehe! The next Cold Moon will only be seen during the next Winter! So keep your blood cold! Or rather at 38⁰ Celcius! It's the temperature at which your equine body is functionning the best!"

Shiny : "When I told you that you should try to be more honest with others, it wasn't what I had in mind. The mysterious Kirin who sold you to me should have warned me that you were lacking manners! Too bad that this Kirin was a traveling merchant and that I never saw her again!" *The mare said to the puppet, a tiny dropplet of frustration present in her voice.*
