writing Crona's nightmare (Short story)

Mother... can you hear me mother?

Rapid thoughts shot through his mind like lightning. His mind was now a cloud, ready to dissipate into water any moment which would turn into tears. Crona was used to this, he was used to pain. His mother had made sure of it. He walked around the darkened room, trying to find any way out. The only thing that would happen is a vector arrow would appear underneath his feet, and would go flying back. He knew he must stay still in the darkness, to be one with himself. Ragnorak was inside of his body, ready to attack him at a moments notice. So Crona lied still, and he cried. He cried over himself, his life, and is future. Nothing could ever become better. Nothing.

 

Come out Crona, come out and play with your mother.

Crona tilted his head upwards to face his mother, Medusa. She had her face in her usual dead stare, which was used to look directly into his very soul. He was terrified to speak, so he slowly rose off of the ground to stand at attention. He did not believe her words, but could not disobey his mother. He slowly began to walk towards her, towards his loving mother. She suddenly smiled at him, her lips spreading across her face, causing her to look like like a toad. An arrow appeared under his feet, and he went flying backwards. Once he hit the wall, he could see she had shot another arrow at his chest, which was a direct hit on his chest. His black blood went flying in all directions and flowed freely from the wound as the arrow disappeared. He looked up from his position on the floor at his mother, who was still smiling at him.

 

Sleep my son.

 

Crona awoke with a start. He could feel his body was covered in sweat, and his bed was drenched. He was panting as he threw his blanket off of himself, and moved his hands to his chest. He felt the spot where the wound had been, but it was no longer there. He sighed softly and began to calm himself as he laid back on his bed that was in the academy. He had dreamed of his mother again, and his past. He had to stop doing this, or he would grow mad.

 

Or rather, crazier than he was already.
