Trixie's Revenge

It was posted a few months ago, and it was featured on EQD, so a lot of you have probably already seen it. It seems that mailmare posted it here, but it got only 1 reply, and dammit, that ain't enough for a video this awesome.

This needs to be a movie or something.

Special thanks to Midnightive for the sig~

I guess I just try too hard sometimes and in the end I'm the one who's left, still broken.

I personally don't think that is that nice, but I await Tom's opinion.

Epic, but unrealistic. Trixie would want to humiliate Twilight in a way that wouldn't destroy the showmare's reputation.

Launching an assault on a town with a hypnotized 15 story tall bear may damage one's reputation...

It could be an attempt to prove that she can exert more control over the Ursa than Twi does. Or perhaps she just realizes that Twi is more powerful and is opting to brute force her way to revenge :/

What I mean is that no one will respect or tolerate her after an attack on Ponyville. Somehow I doubt Trixie would be willing to lose her career and perhaps her life for revenge.

Perhaps this is later, after word of Twi revealing her as a fraud spreads through Equestria, and her career is over anyway.

Now we think that the video is out of character for Trixie, she is a showpony, but not evil. It makes her too mean. We think

Pretty nice video, even if Trixie seems a little out of her character. I believe that she would probably out show Twilight instead of trying to completely destroy Ponyville. But hey, that's just my head canon butting in.

I think a great many ponies knew that the Ursa story was false. Since Trixie is, quite literally, a magician, I think of her unrealistic claims like how a human magician may claim to truly be doing magic when his/her show is really just sleight of hand. The Ursa story was part designed to give Trixie a reputation, but also to allow her to use her spell that...well...drew, in the air, an animation depicting her fighting the Ursa.

[rant]

Ponyville was a disaster for Trixie, but only because she lost all of her material possessions. If she can get another cart and some more fireworks, I doubt anypony will care about her making up a silly story. On a somewhat unrelated note, most of the hate Trixie receives appears to not be reaction to her boasting, but instead to the simple fact that she is making a career off of magic. Ponyville is a very conservative place, with earth ponies (especially Applejack) fiercely resisting magical technology. It seems as if there is an unwritten code that magic may only be used for what manual labor cannot. In "Winter Wrap Up", Rarity is allowed to use magic to do intricate movements that ponies lack the fingers for, but Twilight receives hostility after she tries to use magic to push away snow. And there's an entire episode ("Super Cider Squeezy") devoted to ponies resisting technology/magic's greater efficiency than manual labor. The reason is simple: In "Applebuck Season", Twilight was shown using telekensis to remove the apples from a huge swath of apple trees in 10 seconds flat. Earth ponies (and in some cases Pegasi) fear magic's ability to outcompete them. Back to Trixie, Applejack criticised her for "showing off", when she was simply making a living (and her show had free admission, I remind you). Rainbow's attack on Trixie was "Magic schmagik!"

Well of course Trixie's a show off, any show pony needs to show off their skills and tricks to please the audience.

I disagree. I think the fact that she didn't charge for admission shows that she wasn't doing it to earn a living, but simply so she'd have an opportunity to show off in front of as many ponies as possible. Also, she frequently claimed not only that she was powerful, but the most powerful unicorn in the world. Also, she said "anything you can do, I can do better", which was a direct attack on the entire town, which she repeated frequently. Also, Trixie never actually showed she could do anything better than the mane 6, she only used simple tricks to make them look foolish.

I might add that I'm rewatching the episode as I type this, and none of the ponies indicated that they knew she was BSing (the only one who showed any skepticism was Spike).

I do agree that ponyville seems to be resistant to too much magic too quickly, their problem with Trixie was that she was being a dick.

Cool editing, that was pretty sweet!!! Although, if Trixie does return, I doubt that it'll be that epic... mostly because she, well, kinda sucks. :P

I dont agree with Evilshy about the personality argument, but I also disagree that magic in ponyville theory as well. As an AVID Trixie fan i think more of the hatred stems from her over the top attitude. Although in "Winter Wrap Up" the use of magic is highly discouraged, the use of magic in everyday life isn't. Ponyville is a more of a community than a town, so naturally the traditions and folk tales have a lot more strength. and since Ponyville is more of a home for earth ponies, magic never was used.

As for Trixie. Her Personality is much too strong for most fans, I think. The way I understand her is more of a traveling magician by necessity, not choice. Looking for a home, rather than recognition, Trixie has her magic, and she uses it to travel. Trixie is actually good with her magic, and she knows it. Her bragging is a result of some other factor in her past, but more fans dont see that, leading to the hatred of a troll in their minds.

I disagree. I think the fact that she didn't charge for admission shows that she wasn't doing it to earn a living, but simply so she'd have an opportunity to show off in front of as many ponies as possible.
