If you watch the Goof Off song, at the part Pinkie is blowing bubbles, her hoof has some non-clear tape, because she forgot her clear tape at home. We wouldn't be able to use phones, keyboards, controllers or pretty much EVERYTHING that requires fingers (which is pretty much EVERYTHING in the entire freakin' world!) If I were a pegasus or earth pony, I'd want to stick with hands, just because I'd probably NEVER get used to picking things up with hooves (Seriously, they must put some kind of glue on them when they get up in the morning.) If I were a unicorn, that'd be different, I'd just use magic to pick up and manipulate what I want. It'll almost completely negate the need for hands altogether. They have tendril like appendages inside of their hooves. They reach out and they can use them for "light" manipulation of items. Kay Dreamer 884 August 8, 2014 Share August 8, 2014 I always thought of it as a very low-level form of telekinesis inherent to all ponies, restricted to things they're actually touching. It explains how Octavia can manipulate the strings of a cello, among other things. The difference with Unicorns is that they can use their horn to 'focus' this ability, making Unicorn telekinesis far more powerful and with a much wider range. Also, considering Tirek stole magic from earth and pegasus ponies, it is definitely within the realm of possibility. Originally, I had assumed it was the work of simple evolution as a result of their environment. Over time, their legs had evolved to allow them to easily pick up and harvest things like berries so they could survive in the wild. Of course, this is the result of overthinking, but it's fun.
