I always thought that you became a brony when you decided that you like the show, and that "joining the herd" meant that you became or decided to become a part of the brony community. But, some of the things I have seen and read say that you join the herd when you decide you like the show, and become a brony when you join the community. Also I have seen people say you simultaneously join the herd and become a brony when you decide you like the show, or when you join the community. Yeah I agree with that. I liked the first episode but didn't really consider myself a brony at that moment. When I came back a couple months later and watched more, I really liked the show and started thinking about it a lot. As for joining the herd, I always though it meant actually coming in contact with and communicating with other bronies, but it seems like a lot of people think it means that you enjoy the show, so that makes you a brony and part of the herd because you share the same interest in the show. Ol' Sarge 885 July 12, 2012 Share July 12, 2012 I went about it in reverse. I became a Brony / joined the heard after I attended BronyCon, now I'm watching the episodes. Most (if not all of you) of you guys became Bronies after watching the show and interacting with fellow Bronies. I felt the pull of the herd after meeting some of you and attending the different panels and after talking to Lauren Faust and John de Lancie. When I was a younger pony, I had a lot of feelings and issues that a lot of you have. The difference is I didn't have a group of fellow outcasts (I mean that in a good way) that I could talk to. Now I do. Being a Brony is a state of mind. I'd say I'm a brony, I just haven't joined the herd up until now.
