Second game in, I kinda figured out everything, went and got 1st place with 19 kills and 12 assists. So is it just me or are there a lot of players who aren't that good at all?

The game starts you out in servers that are restricted to folks that are at rank 1 - 7... trust me, once you progress a bit things will get significantly more difficult.

Anyway, the fact that the bullets have to travel is still a thing I need to get used to, though I figured out the travel speed of all of the weapons I used. Looking forward to unlock the Twinfusor, seems like a good gun.

The twinfusor is a good choice if you've got really good aim, otherwise the damage of the individual discs is a bit low for my taste. I prefer the standard spinfusor, really.

The classes are great but I couldn't change mid-game which is either a game rule or just me being a big noob. Though the classes all kinda look the same to me and it's hard figuring out which is which. From what I've seen up till now  is that the classes are pretty balanced and you don't want to mess with the class that counters yours.

You should be able to switch mid-game through the select class option in the escape menu - the new class takes effect as soon as you die or hit an inventory station. Each class looks a little different, but for the most part you are right in the sense that they can be difficult to tell apart in the midst of combat.

As a general rule of thumb, I tend to focus more on what general armor class a player is, rather than what specific class they're using.

Guns seem pretty slick too, I was using the standard Soldier gun, which is the assault rifle, it didn't seem too good for high-rank games but a pretty good gun to start out with. The Thumper D however was wonderful and it made me unstoppable in my second match.

The Soldier AR is actually my least favorite of the bunch... the thumper on the other hand is quite nice - with a bit of practice you should be able to get some midair shots with it before long, if you haven't already.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the game so far. x)

As zoop said, automatics are a scourge in that game... and the soldier's AR is the worst of them all IIRC. The tech's "SMG" does more damage per shot. all courtesy of the excellent balancing by Hi-Rez. That said, I was never good at getting midairs with the thumper, but I can do it on occasion with the Soldier's spinfusor, so that's something. some weapons are just better for different people I suppose.

I haven't used the thumper since the classes and rifles were reworked (long story, but the game is much better off now with the changes), but I actually had an easier time hitting close range midairs with the thumper.

Even though it's a technically a grenade launcher, for close and midrange shots (at least back when I used it), it shoots straight enough that there's no need to compensate your aiming for any sort of arc or such.

One of the main downsides to the thumper is that the projectile doesn't travel nearly as fast as a spinfusor disc, and doesn't inherent your present velocity, making it a poor chasing weapon.

I am not loving the new CTF maps. ugh, Blue Shift is just terrible. the valley one is ok... and Bella Omega's alright as well, I guess. but for the love of god automatics are too powerful. the game is so much not fun when they're in play.

I can remember playing on Bella Omega back in the beta. I liked that map and I have no idea why they decided to remove it, but now I'm glad that they have put a newer version of it back in. I also agree with some of the newer maps not being so good. I haven't had a chance to play in the newest maps though.

EDIT: FINALLY GETTING GOOD, DAMN STRAIGHT.

I'm doing pretty well (I think so at least) consistently every game of TDM I play now. Like, 12+ kills, positive by a few kills, tons of medals and credits. Feels good man.

Notice who's raping the accolades section in the corner of the second one (God, I'm probably playing like shit but I just think I'm good) :^)

So. I've been playing a lot of this recently. Decided that the 'attack tech' is my calling. Tech with thumper, shotgun/pistol, survivalist. I'm so much better with the thumper than the spinfusor, and I can place random turrets for maximum lulz. I'm not really very good with the shotgun or pistol, but that should come with time. Now if the game wasn't like, completely dead on a Sunday morning, that would be awesome.

This is what happens when thumper + turrets + Bella Omega

necro/double post. A lot of love/hate for this game right now. Why, HiRez. why. On one hand, I've found a really fun combo to play, but as a tech, heavy spam is really frustrating. I really feel that heavies need to be limited to a certain number per team. Also, team-stacking just takes all the fun out of playing, especially with as few players as there are in the NAW servers these days. Seriously need something to fix that. So, better protection against team stacking, nerf heavies somehow, and please for the love of god, give us a random team button.

Heavies are a problem?  I never noticed it to be honest.  Just use their 'slowness' to your advantage.  I'm not aware of what team-stacking is (FPS illiterate here), could you elaborate?

Also, depending on how many people on here play, we should form a team and go pro or something.

Heavies are a problem as a tech, when 3 brutes/jugs are in the gen room, I can't defend against that. I sometimes can against infs, for example. they die in two hits.

Team stacking is when players of vastly higher levels all join the same team. Usually ends in the other team getting steam-rolled, again and again and again. it's very frustrating to be on the losing side of that. I think it also indicates issues with the matchmaking or lack thereof. Not saying that a team of lower leveled players can't win against higher level players, but it's really hard to have the enemy team with a lvl 50 capper and your team with lvl 20-something chasers. Levels mean time spent in-game, and a level 50 has spent a hell of a lot of time in the game. I'm at level 26 with 140 hours, for example. so a level 50 has been in game for probably something like 500-600 hours, because the levels scale.

As for going pro, I don't play often or consistently enough.
