Roleplay World - Post Count does not increase in OOC section

After some discussions with the other moderators, and my overall experiences with implementing post count in Roleplay World, we've decided to disable post count incrementation in Roleplay Planning & OOC Discussion due to a large amount of pointless, off-topic, and spammy posts that have been plaguing the board.

 

 

Please note though that post count still does increase in Roleplays. And we expect you to create quality roleplays and posts to retain this privilege.

I'd actually prefer if post count didn't count at all in Roleplay World, I don't got anything against RP'ers, I am one myself, but it was a bit frustrating at how somebronies didn't make legit RP'ing posts, yet they get high badges for that, not only that, but I prefer post count as something anybrony can just increase by simply exploring the forums, and well not everybrony enjoys roleplaying as much as others, and it can be slight annoying on how they easily gain their post count.

 

But I think the 200 character limit will do, since it limits what some of the RP'ers post count, and encourages them to try to make their posts more valid and longer. (I just wish there was a rule on proper grammar and spelling.... xD)

I completely agree with you, and this is one of the reasons why it was decided that turning off post count for OOC was for the best.

 

If the 200 character limit doesn't pan out in helping people making posts that are worth counting though, I will consider removing post count in Roleplays once again.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked at how high some post counts were for some of the RP'ers, and how they would be in a compete different badge if it weren't for the posts they've made (like somepony has a pony badge, when without the RP'ing posts it would be umm... a squirrel perhaps?)

(plus I want my time with my Pegasus badge long and enjoyable before I loose my wings and grow a horn xD)

I second this because as someone that's pretty new here, seeing people that have thousands of posts felt a bit intimidating at first, and I thought I'd never get noticed in amongst these posts.

 

Getting rid of the RP post count all together could probably be a good move because I see some people that make posts in there as quickly and easily as some of the people that hang around in Cloudsdale.

seems reasonable, i'm just wondering whether or not they should count in Roleplays because i'v notice that i have made over 150 posts in 2-3 days partly due to the back an forth in the equestrian civil war and it feels kinda cheap.

Edit: just checked only 79 posts in the Eqestrian Civil War roleplay all were reasonable-ish (i dont know i can judge my own posts)

There's a member with 2k posts and has only been here for like 2 months,

ALL of their posts are in the RP and not in any other sections.

It's ridiculous. ~

I feel bad because i think your on about me... But i wasn't posting for the badge i was posting because i love roleplay. But that seem fair to me, it shouldn't matter about what badge you are. You should role play if you love it. Also i seen some pretty bad OOC posts.

It sounds great to me but I have to look at it from a RP'ers point of view too.

If you love to RP and your posts are longer and have a bit more to them thenthey should count but if a post is as long as

"He nodded his head." Than that shouldnt be worth anything. I guesss what im saying is that the mods made the best possible decision

making OOC topics unable to acquire points.

Thats the thing most RP'ers (Im not gonna try to lie I post in RP alot more than anything else) dont care about badges they love the RP.

The badges are just an added bonus.

I personally agree with this, and I don't think that the Roleplay count should be taken away. This is because a simple post saying 'I'll join' and a link to a character doesn't really count as a 'good post' in my opinion, and 'good posts' are what should count to your post count. Whereas if you are in the RP, you should be making 'good posts' anyway, not to raise your count, but to keep the RP going, the new badges are just a nice feature.

OOC section is nothing more than a 'yeah sure, sounds sweet, I'll join' or a 'So this is how I wanna do it, what do you think?' and maybe a short amount of follow up posts. Makes perfect sense to me to not have posts count in it.
