What is the saddest thing you have ever seen?

I've seen a few fucked up things in my life:

My grandfather dying

My great aunt dying at said grandfather's funeral

A two-year-old girl that got shot down here in New Orleans

Seeing as how no one has responded, I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say I trumped you all and I have seen some pretty fucked up shit.

I don't know, maybe it's just that people aren't that willing to share some of the more sad moment of their lives on an open forum.

Getting back on topic, just seeing people loose hope and slowly give up on life when no one will lend a hand to them. Watching people die because they were in the wrong place, it's a harsh world out there.

FiMFiction My Little Dashie. Enough said, cried especially on the ending, then I find out they made a sequel and a threequel to it. Well, they weren't so much sad... there was a scary part involving a nightmare, but for the most part.

SOARIN GOT DRUNK

Lol what was so damn hilarious. But yeah, sad = My Little Dashie.

Clannad After Story. The saddest story to ever be told. Probably the most I've cried over anything, really.

Darn you!!!!!!! You had to remind me of that scene. :(

Other than that, the last thing to make me really cry was the passing of my grandmother, my parents had to work rigerus schedules so my grandmother took care of me and my older sister. She's taught me things like numbers and letters before I started grade school, she was and still is very special to me. This is why I now take care of my grandfather during the day so I can repay my grandmother by taking care of her husband the way she took care of me those many years ago.

Im a guy who usually dosent see/hear sad things. This post is going to sound so lame.

I cried at the end of bastion. It was sad. Really. Well, the ending I chose was sad.

And when I see how frail my grandparents are, and just knowing they will die soon.

Man. This thread is depressing.

As stupid as it might sound I've cried numerous times at video games, never full on weeping or anything just some manly tears. For instance I cried when ghost and roach were betrayed and killed, I cried when soap died, I cried when Ezio died (though that was in the movie not the games).

As for not video game related things, I usually cry a little when I hear about animals dying or being hurt, also when children or soldiers are hurt. God Bless all of them.

Dude... I cried when snake died. The solid snake sure the last cutscene was long as hell and killed the moment but still.

Has anyone seen Elfen Lied?

It's an anime, very brutal, but with the saddest and most emotional story I have ever seen.

I cried at one point when some kids killed the dog of the protagonist (as a child) by hitting it with a stone.

It was so sad and cruel :(

Oh god, Elfen Lied! I watched the whole series in one sitting this time last year and bawled my face off at the end with *spoiler* Kurama prepared to die with his daughter, and when Kouta was saying goodbye to Lucy. The opening theme song really gets to me as well.

Sometime in the 80's, a Soviet munitions specialist placed a landmine somewhere outside of Kabul. Its original purpose was simple: deny Afghan insurgents the use of that specific area. It was one of many millions that would eventually be deployed during the Soviet/Afghan war, and most of them have never been found. But this one in particular sat for a very long time, undisturbed and forgotten. One day, somebody found it and carefully removed it. It probably changed hands a couple of times, but it eventually ended up along the side of a road outside of Kabul. Its new purpose would be to detonate near a NATO vehicle after that vehicle had been forced through a bottleneck.

Not surprisingly, the timing didn't quite work out as intended. Instead of hitting NATO soldiers, it detonated when a family pulled over to inspect a flat tire. It just so happens that I was being medivac'd (for a different reason) at the same time as one of the landmine victims, and we arrived at the same ER at the same time. I'm pretty sure it was a little girl, maybe 5 or 6. It was kind of hard to tell, since the explosion had torn away half of her face. I don't know her name, or if she survived, but for a moment we made eye contact, and I can never forget her.

That's not the sad part, though. That shit happens all the time. It's pretty normal, actually. The saddest thing I've ever seen is that a lot of people in first world countries really have no idea what lies just over the horizon. They don't know how viscious the world is, or how peculiar this recent concept of "safe, civilized life" is in the grand scheme of things. Many people take for granted the existence of fire departments, schools and electricity. Sometimes it sickens me, and sometimes I have to try very hard not to hate them for their ignorance.

The way my mom ran into my dad's arms as she ran from my dead grandmother's hospital room. I was only really little, but I still understood what happened. I couldn't imagine how she felt.

One time a group of kangaroos jumped out in front of a truck. I was walking to school at the time, if you're curious. I saw a joey (spoiler for gore)

with its leg torn from the socket, with his stomach wide open,

flailing towards his mother, who died on impact.

Also, guess who had to throw all four dead ones (there were seven all in all) off the road? The truckie didn't care about them--he stepped on the mother to check his truck. :(

Also, (spoiler for feels)

the joey's heart was still bleeding when I threw it off the road. I got splattered with blood.

I do not know how you do it, I could not stomach the all of the pain that you see on a daily basis. It pained me just to read that. God bless you, brother

Thanks for the thought my friend. It's hard being a trauma expert but I chose it for a reason. For whatever reason I have the capability of stomaching all this and sleeping at night...Don't know how

The pathetic excuse for a man I see in the mirror every morning...

I'm normally not one for Anime, but Clannad and Angel Beats both have some pretty sad moments (really the only anime I feel good about watching.)

There was a video floating around the internet a couple of years ago, it was removed countless times on different websites, but I got "lucky" and saw it. The video showed two guys brutally murdering another guy by torture... I don't want to talk about specific details, but that was the saddest thing that I have ever seen... I don't remember why I watched the video in the first place, it was probably curiosity... But I regret that decision so badly. Even if I remembered the videos name I would not post it's name here, because others might find it, and if someone of you remember the name. Please, don't post it here.

Yeah I know what it is (and I remember the name). It was not really that sad to me. More disturbing to watch.

I don't know what the saddest thing I have seen is.

I could barely remember anything sad from my childhood or my distant past, I guess I'll have to settle with the recent one.

For those who thought that this story was made on the spot, screw you too.

Well you know, I live by myself for the last few months. Previously I lived together with my parents because all three of us simply couldn't afford to rent a place by ourselves, so we kinda have to 'gather resources together'. When I managed to save quite a sum of money, I gave it all to them and I moved out.

My job certainly is not the best kind, and my paycheck wasn't that much, so I got this grudge to my parents. Few days after I moved out I just stop calling them, generally forgot that they exist. All I could think of was to work as good as possible, get a raise, and live in comfort.

Few weeks ago, my father dropped by. He was running out of money, and coincidentally he was around my place so, yeah. I grabbed my wallet, pulled out some cash, gave it to him, and shooed him away. Without even looking I just locked the door and go to sleep. I'm not angry. I'm just way too tired with him and all of his promises that things will get better.

When I woke up, I got this short message, saying "maaf nak, bapak nggak bisa ngasih makan kamu." Which means roughly 'sorry, I couldn't take care of you'

I wish I didn't laugh at that time.

When the toys were ready to die, in Toy Story 3.

Holy heck, I cried so much during that scene. They accepted their fate, and grabbed hands.

Oh my god why did you bring that up? That was probably the saddest movie moment I have ever seen. Imagine you, and your life long best friends and family all moments from death, you accept your fates and you want to spend one last moment with eachother. So sad man.

I think it would be easier to tell you what doesn't make me cry. Literally, just about everything makes me feel awfully sad. I don't know why that is, and I wish it wasn't that way. Now, I don't walk around all day with my head down and a frown on my face, I still know how to laugh and smile. But, everything I see, somehow, leaves a so called "mark" in my emotion. It sucks.

I will tell you, one of the things that make me have a sad feeling, is the lesson learned in the end of every MLP episode. Why? That is supposed to be a good thing. Why does that make me sad? Well, I don't know. Hopefully soon I will find out why I see sorrow every flipping day.

But, I'm fine and stuff. You know... ponies and all. Helps.

EDIT: You know, I am going to go ahead and start listing some of the gaming moments that made/make me cry. (They are all Zelda moments)

--------------

ZELDA MOMENTS

--------------

--Ocarina of Time--

The very end of the game when Zelda turns around to see Link standing. If they remember each other, I will never know. But, God, that hurts me bad...

--Twilight Princess--

SAD FREAKIN' MOMENT 1: Midna's Desperate Hour... When Midna is lying on your back, breathing heavily, and... just the noises she makes... Kills me. The rain makes it all worse. Also, Zelda giving up her life doesn't make me any happier...

SAD FREAKIN' MOMENT 2: The end of the game where Midna shatters the mirror, and leaves Link with the words "I... See you later." makes me want to rewind time and never hear of the game. I don't want to tell you how hurt I was when that happened... Gah, she should have left the mirror as it was. She had better see Link again, or I will march my butt up to Nintendo and they will learn what it's like to take an arrow to the knee.

--Skyward Sword--

Those of you who know this game, you know where I am headed. Yea, the part where Zelda falls back to seal herself away for FREAKING EVER and guard the temple. What really put me in a good position to start my breakdown was when she said, "So I'm going to ask you a favor, sleepyhead." (I'm crying now... God, stop it...) Sleepyhead is what she called him in the beginning of the game, even since they were kids! Using that name in that moment was perfect... Seeing Link's face when she finished the seal made my heart explode... Not in a good way, either. After going through all of what Link has to go through to even see Zelda, and getting the result he did... If that were me... Oh, geez. Quit crying, you pansy.

"I'm still your Zelda." - *Cried*

"But this time, when all of this is over, will you come to wake me up?" - *Cried*

The background music was Zelda's Lullaby... You know what that did? It made me cry.

Screw tears.
