movies/tv New Sailor moon anime announced - Your opinion

So there's a new Sailor moon coming out, I know that many of you won't remember the animê (it debuted 20 years ago, and most of us weren't born yet) but as I was raised while the show was reairing (in Portugal, at least, it was on until the mid 2000's and now it's airing again) I'm quite excited to see what comes out of the project, they said it would be an darker anime, to appeal to all audiences, so what do you think?

And while I'm sure we all have good memories (those who watched the series at least) I hope that the original voice actors reprise their roles, being it in english, portuguese, french, or whatever language, but I understand that the teens who voiced it now are fully grown adults, so, maybe not

Meh, too girly. Not into the whole Japanese magical girl thing. I watched a few episodes but with anime the entire continuity is just a mess and impossible to catch up with, so i don't bother. Probably won't be as "good" as the original, anyways.

This is so weird, almost a couple weeks ago I randomly decided to google up "Sailor Uranus" because I wanted to know if there was one, and so I could laugh like the immature brat I am. And now they're rebooting the series with a darker tone appealing to all audiences? Man, talk about coincidence

Always been a fan of Sailor Moon though I wish I had seen more of it. I've only seen bits and pieces of the first season, the last three episodes of the one with the lady in the mirror and then the full season where Sailor Saturn debuted. I've also seen like three of the movies though (my favorite being the Snow Queen one. Sailor Moon S was it? I honestly don't remember)

 

I'm definitely looking forward to it and here's hoping it gets an English dub since I don't watch subbed anime unless it never got a dub like Pandora Hearts. Don't particularly care who it is though I think Laura Bailey could easily fit in here somewhere. (She's popular and she's also one of my favorite VAs)

There's a sailor for each planet in the Milky Way. Venus, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and then Moon replaces Sailor Earth which there is none of (as far as I know)

 

Fun fact: Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune are a couple and they don't particularly hide this even in the heavily altered English Dub.

I watched it during its original run as a kid. A reboot is fine with me, and if it took on a more gender-neutral or adult tone I wouldn't object to that either.

 

As a guy, I found some elements frustrating and trite, but there was something about it that kept me interested enough to watch it regularly. No, it had nothing to do with the skimpy sailor uniforms. I was only four years-old when it debuted. I probably saw in it a great amount of potential to appeal to traditional male sensibilities that it never quite realized. This could be Sailor Moon's opportunity to grab that near-miss audience and recapture the original fans too.

 

At the moment the only thing that bothers me is that they apparently won't be using Moonlight Densetsu for the theme. That's something I wish they would retain. The English version of that song is so terrible that it's awesome. The original is just plain cool.

No wonder most people don't get the story, we dubbed the spanish version, that wasn't edited at all, it was...well let me say, I didn't got most of the mentions of couples when I was little

I barely remember anything anyway, this is just what I know from what I've heard. I have wanted to get the whole series on DVD anyway just to watch it again though, especially with this new version coming.

I've watched it before.. I disliked it. I'd watch it over Dora, and I used to have a poster that said "Sailor Moon Power!" her eyes would also glow red. Freaked me out as a small kid. I never wanted the poster but it was my sisters and it had to stay. I remember some episode where a guy turned into.. something like a demon.. I don't think I'll want to watch it.

well I've been an avid anime fan for years and I think it's cool they still qork on the series. I remember the first time I saw the show, my first thought was that Sailor Moon was kinda like the Dragon Ball Z for girls, not quite related but yeah, hope you get my point. Good to know they gonna release a new one, I love anime so yeah, will watch >

I've never watched the original series, but I'll give the new one a try. The original mangaka is married to the mangaka of Hunter X Hunter, which is awesome, and it was quite successful in it's own right, so it really has all the credentials it needs already. Of course, you never know how it will be until you actually watch it. Thumbs crossed that it'll be good, though.
