I don't mean the people on this forum, BTW. I mean immigrants. Now I have no problem with immigration. If you want to come and live in America, more power to you. But there are people who have lived here for years and still have not bothered to learn more than a handful of English words. I don't get it. Maybe if I were in their position I would feel differently. But if for some reason I had to leave America and live in a different country...say, Japan, and I planned to spend the rest of my life there, one of my first priorities would be to learn some Japanese. It also troubles me that instead of encouraging people to learn our language, we're translating everything into Spanish. It feels like we're pandering to them and I don't like it. It also drives me nuts at work when I have to decipher mumblings like "Where manager?" and "how much price?" Here's a simple phrase for you: ESL!

 

The anti-smoking thing has gone too far. We get it, cigarettes kill you. People act all high and mighty just because their bad habit isn't cigs. It's hypocritical. And leave people a place to smoke. We act like it's a major hardship to hold our breath for five seconds when we're walking out of a building. I don't smoke, but I personally don't mind the smell as long as I'm not around it all day.

 

There's nothing wrong with clopping, or porn for that matter.

 

Every young male TV spokesman or singer sounds like someone has his balls in a vice. Where do they find these guys? Why don't men sound male anymore?

 

About 30-odd years ago, a generation of women rose up and said they wanted sensitive men who would share their feelings and cry with them and stuff. Number one, they were lying. They may not have known it at the time, but ultimately they were. Number two, many of them have sacrificed their children to that lie by raising a new generation of timid, passive-aggressive guys who no longer know how to express themselves. Hope you're happy, girls! We can't protect you from bumps in the night or build you a house anymore, but we've got a lot of love to give!!! :(

 

I really love classical music! Every time someone in my school mentions classical/orchestral music, a lot of people would just say "Eww."

 

All that yelling in heavy metal sounds very violent to me, but I'm not even sure why.

It's meant to sound violent. Extreme metal is a violent, morbid, misanthropic outburst in musical form, that hurts no one and for fans of the genre can actually be cathartic and dare I say it, soothing.

The complexity of the music is actually comparable to the intricacies of classical, for that matter. You'd be surprised how much work goes into stuff that just sounds like a wall of noise. The drumming in particular requires a huge amount of skill.

i fear that clarifying this may muddle it more, but here goes: from a legal standpoint, i dont mind gay marriage. from the religious point, i dont think the churches should perform the ceremony.

 

I support Ron Paul because he is the candidate that best fits my own desires, beliefs and priorities. that isnt to say he fits them all to a T. i really dont like his 'free trade for all' foreign policy. We Americans are far too greedy for another gate like china to open. i would like to look more into Jesse Ventura, because hes in nobody's pocket, but even if he did manage to get elected, neither side would help him do a darn thing--which is appalling. theyd cut off their nose to spite their face....

They may have been wrong and backwards but they were human and they suffered too. Its a symbol of heritage and pride--a painful "scarlet letter" if you will.
