Ok, is Gangnam style the next/newest fad?

Wow I can't believe it already has over 100 million views! I remember when I first saw it, and it only had around 250,000 views back in mid July. I wouldn't mind if it became a huge fad because quite honestly, I find it pretty catchy (and the music video is pretty funny too).

Gangnam style is definitely a fad, since it has over 100,000,000 views now on YouTube. Also, it is in fact Korean. The song name actually does have meaning, as does the song - The Gangnam District is the wealthy district of Seoul, and the song itself is meant to be a parody of the so-called "high" life of the residents of the Gangnam district - the dance itself is actually meant to emulate a horseback rider as that is considered an activity of the wealthy. The video itself consists of Psy dancing about in various locations within the Gangnam district.

I actually found out about this song I think it was 3 weeks ago through a friend of mine. It was number 2 on youtube's top 100 music vids. I found it hilarious and catchy plus its better than most of the stuff I hear on the radio. Hell I remember watching Oregon's duck do a parody vid of this earlier today and it was quite hilarious.

I vaguely heard about this a while back but never looked into it. I go on iTunes to check out the top singles and there it was at #24 so I gave it a listen. Didn't care for it.

 

So I go on Youtube and the first thing that popped up was the Oregon Duck mascot parody of it, so I watched. It was great. I had to check out the original after that. Like a carnivorous earworm the song and video crawled into my brain and made a home. I cannot get enough of the song and dances. The second version with the girl singing is also very hot.

The song itself is okay (not something I'd have in my playlist) but it's the video that makes it what it is. I mean, who doesn't love that dance? (Heeeeeeey sexy laaaady)

I'm not surprised that in just a month it's gotten 100 million views and is no.1 on Youtube's playlist.

 

However popular it is though, I believe it will die (as a trend) in a few weeks. It's good if you want a laugh or to be entertained for a moment but that's all it is.

That's what I love about it. You can find just about anyone doing that dance. Ponies, people from Kingdom Hearts, anything at all.

Just thinking about it makes me want to dance.
