gaming Favorite NES game?

What are some of yours? I think it's tough to top Mario Bros. 3. Although Duck Hunt was worth wasting plenty of time on haha. Also, gottsa love the Mega Man franchise.

 

Super Mario Brothers 3. That game was so innovative and blew the doors of gaming wide open.  The level design was *extremely* inventive in that game, as were the crazy items. 

 

I also like Ninja Gaiden because of the fact that brought us the idea of the cutscene.  It introduced the idea that games could really be cinematic, and had a relatively complex plot for its time.  It was a great idea , the cutscenes motivated us to finish the next level so we could uncover the next part of the story. 

 

Game was hard as *hell*, though.  But still fun as a Castlevania type side scroller.

 

 

Oddly enough, I would have to say "Mario Paint". Most people probably thought it was boring, but it was fun for me.

Of course, nowadays, I don't like the Mario Franchise, but it's still my favorite NES game. 

 

Mario Paint is SNES, not NES.

It would be a tie between Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 but I'm going with the former because it is so easy to pick and play imo. I love doing the shortcut from World 1 -> World 5 -> World 8!

I would definitely agree with all of the Mega Man games for the NES, but 2 and 4 really stand out to me.

 

I think it's mainly due to the fact that those were the first NES soundtracks I heard where I didn't get annoyed by the tracks or think that they were really repetitive.

 

I'm also very partial to the first Final Fantasy and to the original Mother. To me, there's nothing more fun than grinding for hours in an old school JRPG.

Well, now I feel stupid. In that case, I suppose....nothing. I never was much of a NES person, not really a SNES person either. Never played most of the games. So, I suppose none.

I only discovered this game last year and find it absolutely criminal that it isn't better known and appreciated.  It came out after the SNES, so it didn't sell well and faded into obscurity,  Actual copies of it now are hard to come by (especially for a reasonable price).

Anyway, I sincerely consider it one of the best games I've ever played.  Everything that makes a great action/platformer is present, with a lot of unique charm and cool ideas (like freely alternating between 4 characters, each of which play totally different from each other and have their own specific advantages).

For an 8-bit game, it's absolutely gorgeous too.

I literally can not just chose one fave NES game as I enjoyed all of them buuut if I had absolutely no choice but to chose one it would be the original final fantasy. I won't lie to you I owned over 35 NES games up until around 2006 when I moved to Alberta and we had to sell them against my better judgement. it still annoys me because i had two beta cartridges (test games) one was for the original Metroid and the other was for Super Mario bros 3

 

but at least I still have a GBA SP haha plus my megaman battle network games
