These shadow dragons are empowered by the Lord of Darkness, you know. (The whole area belongs to him, he's not going to suffer a Light Dragon of any sort.) They can bypass any silly feats by working together. 

First, this cave belongs to me! Not any silly shadow lord! Second, I'm quite literately made of shadow elemental magic. I am shadow elemental magic. I can control the stuff as easily as I can control my own limbs. If every shadow god in all of existence teamed up to cast this one shadow elemental spell, I could still absorb and nullify it. (also, absorbing their combined magic would make me nigh-omnipotent, but that's neither here nor there.) My control over the shadow is absolute!

That "silly shadow lord" is literally the source of shadow magic, he can cut you off from it with a thought.

I AM my own source of shadow magic! I draw my powers directly from my own soul, not from any silly shadow god!

That's also a lie. Kobolds do nothing but lie, they lack the intelligence to tell the truth.

You must have, if you believe silly things like that.

The difference is you are a mortal. The gods just are, and always have been, you don't have the means to power your own magic, no being with mortal origins can.

Kobolds must be able to lie, since you're lying right now.

I wasn't born in a universe with those rules. Where I was born, there were no gods, and each and every person derived their magic from their own souls. When I became powerful enough to travel between dimensions, I of course kept my own soul with me, which of course still generates it's own supply of magic power. So yes, I don't need any of your silly gods to cast magic.

Except that by entering this universe, you follow the rules of this universe. You have your own soul, yes, but it does not function as it once did. Of course, to you there seems to be no difference, which explains your confusion.

You have no idea how souls work, do you? If my soul stopped working in the manner that you say it did, I would die instantly, no saving throw. I think I would notice my dying instantly.
