I've been waiting a year and a half to post that pic btw.

I've got youtube videos that I've been dying to use, but the right circumstances never came up...

I count cos2(x)+sin2(x)+1 Discords!

I definitely can't understand all that.

For real this time, I'm going to bed. See you all in the morning! ('Round 7:30'ish)

Goodnight!

He's saying there's 999481813 Discords.

That equation obviously equals negative zero.

I'm throwing math everywhere just like you wanted, Stormgiggle/St0rmgiggle/Stormgiggle0!

I never wanted that.

By the way, if you guys discover what's wrong with me, I'll return to normal.

there will be fanfics of this beautiful pairing.

That's definitely going to happen.

Alright I posted that math but I messed up so..

Let's say there's 900 Discords and 60 Twilights and the total is 999481818 . There's 5 more Discords than Twilights. Let's make Discord to x and Twilight to y.

Our equation will be 900x+60y = 999481818

x = y+5

y=x-5

Let's substitute

900(y+5)+60y = 999481818

900y+200+60y = 999491818

960y+200 = 999491818

960y = 999491618

y = 1041137.1021

1041137.1021 Discords. I'm throwing math everywhere. 42!!

Let's say there's 900 Discords and 60 Twilights and the total is 999481818 . There's 5 more Discords than Twilights.

Stop right there. I'm going to do this myself, so we I can check to see if our answers match up and we're correct.

Let Discord be d and let Twilight be t.

Then our two equations are:

1) 900d+60t=999481818

2) d=t+5

Substitute 2 into 1 to get:

900(t+5)+60t=999481818

900t+4500+60t=999481818

960t+4500=999418181

960t=999477318

t=1041122.20625

d=t+5, so d=1041127.20625.

Hence there are 1041127.20625 Discords and 1041122.20625 Twilights.

We don't seem to agree. I believe your error is here:

900(y+5)+60y = 999481818

900y+200+60y = 999491818

Expanding 900(y+5) should give 900y+4500.

I should've looked at it more closely... I deserve any punishment I get.

Oh wait. You stop right there. Since you corrected my math, I'll correct you too.

Now as promised, the proof that cos2(x)+sin2(x)=1

This requires analyzing a right-angle triangle, so for reference let's refer to this diagram:

220px-Rtriangle.svg.png

From this diagram, we know that sin(A)=a/c and cos(A)=b/a. (sin: opposite/hypotenuse. cos: adjacent/hypotenuse.)

Now, let's square both equations, giving us sin2(A)=a2/c2 and cos2(A)=b2/c2

We'll rearrange this to make the proof easier. For both equations, c2 will be moved to the other side, giving c2sin2(A)=a2 and c2cos2(A)=b2

From Pythagoras, we know that c2=a2+b2. From the above equations, we have another expression for both a2 and b2. Substituting them into this equation gives us c2=c2sin2(A)+c2cos2(A)

Simplifying this:

c2=c2sin2(A)+c2cos2(A)

c2=c2(sin2(A)+cos2(A))

1=sin2(A)+cos2(A)

So there you go. sin2(A)+cos2(A)=1.
