Those people are idiots and are causing people like me, who actually have ADHD, to be looked at like we're making excuses. That we are just lazy and the like. It really pisses me off to see that kind of stuff. I legitimately have ADHD, diagnosed when I was a child, along with Tourettes Syndrome, and was on medicine for half my life. I got tired of the medicine and it's side affects and I just learned to deal with it. I am as stubborn as a mule and refuse to take any medications, I want to be me and not have to take medicine to "fix" me. Yes it causes much procrastination and distractions and it's difficult to deal with. But I have managed to hold onto a job and to stay in college.

It's like people trying use other conditions and disabilities to their advantage. I wish they wouldn't use ADHD as an excuse when they don't have it. I really am incapable of focusing on a book for extended periods of time. Poems would be easier for me, but I would much prefer the story of a good book. It's just I can't stay focused, then I procrastinate. Then when I do pick up a book, it could be months just to read one. And I will more than likely forget what I read at the beginning. Many years ago I read Halo: Fall of reach. Took me at least 3 months just to read it. I don't really remember it now, and by the time I had finished, I couldn't remember much of anything about at least the first half of the book. But I was proud that I was even able to read it. I like Halo, I liked the story I was reading. I just couldn't stay focused. EVERYTHING wants my attention. Even my own thoughts want my attention.

Do you know what it's like to have thoughts and conversations constantly racing through your head 24/7 while music constantly plays on top of those thoughts 24/7 while more thoughts jump on those thoughts and then suddenly my thoughts are completely somewhere else. Then voices, sounds, sights, smells all want my attention. A small stain on a wall is ignored as one passes by while I see the stain and wonder where it came from, what caused it, what could it be while I stare at it walking by.

Excuse me for going on a tangent and a TLDR. But when people want to say ADHD is an excuse, or it isn't real, or anything of the sort, it boils my blood.

And now, a plagiarized article about racoons:

The raccoon (11px-Speakerlink-new.svg.pngi/ræˈkn/, Procyon lotor), sometimes spelled racoon,[2] also known as the common raccoon,[3]North American raccoon,[4]northern raccoon[5] and colloquially as coon,[6] is a medium-sized mammal native to North America. The raccoon is the largest of the procyonid family, having a body length of 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in) and a body weight of 3.5 to 9 kg (8 to 20 lb). Its grayish coat mostly consists of dense underfur which insulates against cold weather. Two of the raccoon's most distinctive features are its extremely dexterous front paws and its facial mask, which are themes in the mythology of several Native American tribes. Raccoons are noted for their intelligence, with studies showing that they are able to remember the solution to tasks for up to three years.[7] The diet of the omnivorous raccoon, which is usually nocturnal, consists of about 40% invertebrates, 33% plant foods, and 27% vertebrates.

The original habitats of the raccoon are deciduous and mixed forests, but due to their adaptability they have extended their range to mountainous areas, coastal marshes, and urban areas, where some homeowners consider them to be pests. As a result of escapes and deliberate introductions in the mid-20th century, raccoons are now also distributed across the European mainland, the Caucasus region and Japan.

Though previously thought to be solitary, there is now evidence that raccoons engage in gender-specific social behavior. Related females often share a common area, while unrelated males live together in groups of up to four animals to maintain their positions against foreign males during the mating season, and other potential invaders. Home range sizes vary anywhere from 3 hectares (7 acres) for females in cities to 50 km2 (20 sq mi) for males in prairies. After a gestation period of about 65 days, two to five young, known as "kits", are born in spring. The kits are subsequently raised by their mother until dispersal in late fall. Although captive raccoons have been known to live over 20 years, their average life expectancy in the wild is only 1.8 to 3.1 years. In many areas, hunting and vehicular injury are the two most common causes of death.

Yes, I do.

I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from. There are surely many people out there who are lazy for the sake of it, not because of something they can't help, like you.

I also read Flowers for Algernon. I believe I said this at some point.

Here's a thought. If you took all the comments you read online (this forum, for example) in a single day, or two, and piled them up, that's equivalent to a good-sized book, a fair read right there.

When you mentioned ADHD as an excuse, you came across as one of those twits who think it isn't real like those who think kids diagnosed with it are just their parents making excuses for their child's behavior.

Do you deny that some people use it as an excuse? everyone says they have it. It's at epidemic levels, if it's true. I neither believe or deny it, I just want the truth. And to know why it's so prevalent.

Most people have ADD.

I'm not saying you don't have ADHD Mr. Dash, by the way.

apparently so.

But it wasn't in the spotlight until recent years. Older generations didn't seem to have this problem, at least, no one spoke up very loudly about it, if they did.

Two things seem evident.

1. People have more distractions now than in the past

2. More people claim to have ADHD now than in the past

So, it's not unreasonable to be curious about this.

Listen. I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. I have a birthday to get to. Just do some research as to what ADHD is and ALL the things it causes and why it seems more prevalent. I'm done wasting my time. Believe whatever the fuck you want to believe. I give no two shits. People will always abuse disabilities and the like. That doesn't mean that they aren't or not real just because they seem to be more common now. There are just new things to get distracted with when it come to people LIKE ME.

I'm still fumed. ADHD does that. Makes it hard to keep emotions in check.

here's a question with a predictable outcome: who here  likes books?

I love books.

Apparently my opinion doesn't count.

Don't mind Pink. He can be an insensitive jerk sometimes. I submit the conversation he just had with Mr. Dash as proof.

That's a bit harsh don't you think?

Well, yeah, a little bit. -_-  But Pink doesn't mind such things, as he has said on multiple occasions.

this hasn't been an "argument" as far as I'm concerned. I thought we were just having a discussion

and I never said it isn't "real" or what have you.

Any contact with the chamber floor will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record. Followed by death. Good luck.

Hello pot, my name is kettle.

Yeah, sometimes.  :) But I'm only mean to people I like. If I didn't like you, I'd be really nice to you.
