I would have thought explosions would have the ultimate mortality, burning though their fuel as they do at an extravagant rate, in order to go out in an impressive show of force instead of a slow, boring pressure....

That said though, the Sun is estimated to have an expected lifetime of ten billion years, and is still less than half that old... an explosion of such size and power any other explosion in the solar system is a mere spark by comparison.
