Top 2 Vocalists And Their Best Songs

Ultimatum

Recommended Posts

Hi I wanted to know what vocalists everypony liked. All you gotta do is list the top 2 vocalists you know and then put the best song for each. Put the band(s) they are in after their names. Mine are listed below as an example.

  • Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave)

  • Jack Black (Tenacious D)

Although I don't really listen to him anymore, James Blunt has an amazing voice and is one of the few modern singers I know whose live performances are even better than the cd tracks. I can't think of a "best song" but here's one of my old favorites, "High".

Robbie Williams also had amazing live performances. I can't think of any specifically so I just googled "Robbie Williams best live performance" and this is what popped up.

Honorable mentions: Pete Murray, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Nicki Minaj (jk jk XD).

I don't really listen to this music nowadays. I'm more into Coldplay and electronic music (not really dubstep) but I can't deny that the voices of most modern singers can't compare to the oldies.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Coldplay. I don't know who's getting the boot but they're definitely in the top 2.

Best. band. Ever.

Doesn't let me post more videos. Check out "Yellow" though.

Two favourite vocalists? Easy.

Devin Townsend - The dude's diversity in the metal subgenres are mindblowing. And not just in his music. From his screams in SYL to the soft singings in Ghost, he's practically amazing at whatever genre you throw at him.

Devin Townsend - Kingdom [Live - By A Thread]

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=57hs37Yq_3s

This is one of the best examples I've heard of his talent. Especially the last two minutes - where he just goes all out on the pretty vocals, alongside the beautiful Anneke!

Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth - I don't know about top vocalist, but he's definitely one of my favourites. From old material in Taking Over and Under The Influence, to new material like Ironbound and The Electric Age, he's always that badass "Joisey" attitude that made his vocals so powerful and heavy to listen to!

Overkill - Elimination [The Years of Decay]

This is an example of him being badass as a young'n. Powerful, sharp vocals that got you moving.

Another example of his voice (however with the two videos per post rule, you'll have to click the name itself). A bit more raspy, but still got that power he always had. Plus, he said THIS:

Don't you look so fuckin' sad,

I'll beat you like you never had!

THAT alone is the epitamy of "Joisey" level badass/attitude I've heard from ANYONE. IMO, Blitz fucking rules, period.

Also, Djenty if you're reading this - lol, "Joisey".

Well, I don't like vocalists for vocal talent, as much as how it blends with their music. So remember this, as I list my top two.

Chuck Schuldiner - Death, Control Denied(Not a main vocalist)

This guys screams have got progressively higher as his career progressed. I think some of his best were on Human, though.

Jens Kidman - Meshuggah

He experimented with a lot of styles through out Meshuggah's career, with growls, and plain old yelling. My favorite parts of his vocals is Contradictions Collapse.

[spoiler]

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

Mmmm, this is a thread I like.

Utada Hikaru (Solo Artist)

http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWoJLdXJt0E

I think just about everyone here went through a Kingdom Hearts phase back in middle/highschool. But the one thing that stuck with me was the brilliant musical compositions, and the two main themes were certainly no slouches. I make no secret that Utada is my favorite female singer of all time. I highly, highly prefer the Japanese KH2 song, "Passion", to it's American counterpart, "Sanctuary". There's just so much more emotion and, well, passion. I highly recommend that you check out her entire library of work if you enjoyed her songs from the KH series.

Johnny Gioeli (Brunette, Hardline, Axel Rudi Pell, Crush 40, Accomplice)

Johnny was the very first singer I remember enjoying when I was younger. I hated all vocal music up until the age of 11 or 12, when I heard the song "Open Your Heart" sang by Johnny in Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. I became a huge fan of Crush 40 after that, and eventually sought out the others bands he'd performed in. His time with Hardline was arguably his best, and "Hot Cherie" is my favorite track off of their first album.

^ This. Utada Hikaru has an amazing voice. Especially in Sanctuary/Passion. Plus, I'm still in high school, Kingdom Hearts FTW!

I'd also like to add MandoPony. I don't know if he counts because he's a brony musician but he's just so epic. :)
