Mlpforum's birthday is coming up!

So, the forums have been around for quite a while!

We've seen lots of members come and go, and many new faces come into the picture.

 

We've seen an admin come and go (Kurtiss), and we've seen new admins come into play. (Scoot, Swoop, Zoop)

 

Well, I feel like we need to celebrate the birthday of this forum. On October 3rd, 2011, Feld0 and Kurtiss opened this forum up for business. While I myself was not there at the time, many of us were. (That still remain.)

 

I joined a week later, and have been here ever since. And I've made this place exactly like my family. I've been in fights, drama, and just family love. Everything a family is, I've dealt with you guys.

 

And like I said, I feel like we need to celebrate the greatness that is Mlpforums. Because this forum is really like no other. Feld0 and the others have made such a community so great, that we attract new members each and every day.

 

So, I think along with celebrating the forums birthday, I want to do something for all the mods/admins as well, to say thanks.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to celebrate the forums birthday, and give back to the mods/admins?

 

Along with answering that question above, put your story on how you came to Mlpforums as well! I'm sure we would love to read it!

I may have hopped on the bandwagon A LITTLE late, but I do agree that we should do something to honor the site and it's incredible staff. Maybe we could do something like a youtube video or something, I dunno.

 

If it were a video, we'd have to make fun of every single mod/admin though. And make this place seem as funny and awesome as it is.

I remember my first day here. The 27th of May. Yes I may have jumped here later than most, but I have been here for what feels like a long time. If I remember correctly I made a life advice topic which you, Finest, posted in. At the time I had no idea who you were or how popular you were but it was back when you went by Krystal I think it was. That post you made was the best, partially saving my life. Oh am I getting off topic, I don't care. This forums is amazing and has made me so happy and I know we should so do something to celebrate it.

I joined a few months after the forums were made. I was looking for a place to Role Play and in the search engine, the site came up. Safe to say that, long story short, it became a second home for me. Even though I went on a mini-hiatus and have been in the smallest of dramas, I love it here. I love everything about here. Everyone is just so... accepting. You can jump into a conversation without feeling like a wedge or as though you really are an outsider barging in on something private.

 

The forums are love and safety. C: Thank you, creators and mods, for this. I am forever grateful.

I just realized my story of joining the forums is not entirely true. I joined on May 23rd and posted for one day. After that I completly forgot about the forums until the 27th of May when I made a new account. I had forgotten the old account and so yes I had two accounts, but they must have figured it out not long ago. If it is confusing maybe this will help.

As you can see I started an account on the 23rd then made a new one on the 27th. Weird I know, but yeah. I discovered the forums trying to find a way to tell my parents I was a brony.

Wow almost a year already? i remember first hearing about mlpforums on 3dsforums, I remember the day before it launched how crazy the MLP:FIM topic on 3dsforums were, then i joined at 6am or so after i woke up, it was a blast, no other forum have i enjoyed as much as I have here, you guys are awesome! Also i remember being one of the first Linux Bronies here well other than Feld0 ofcourse (used on the server), its amazing how many people i have found like me, liking MLP and Linux, its a dream come true really

perhaps the best way to celebrate the forums birthday is doing a dedicatory video/documental, featuring all the best things this forums has to offer, like a section of the video could be a small biography of the forums, another one, would be some users recorded on video giving their thoughts on the forums, another part dedicated to art (drawings, wallpapers, music, etc.) and finally a small video capture touring through the forums to attract more people watching.

Alrighty then, I'll speak. I joined this forum November 16th, by accident. I'm not joking - me being on this forum was a complete accident. I was on another forum another while back for almost a week, and because the site URL was so friggin' long, I had to type "mlp forum" on google, and stumbled upon this site in its full, colorful glory. A few days later, I emigrated and made this place my home, with my ass melted into the Metal Thread and horribly screwing up in an RP.

 

Oddly enough, I went back to my old forum months later, and what did I find? As it turns out, @ had been advertising and trying to get users on that same site I was on to join this one, and that their side-forum with an old member Linguz they partnered up with them and becoming sister sites. Didn't help that it kinda looked a bit... bottish for a lack of better term. 'Specially when you're writing it like:

My story's nothin' extraordinary. I just wanted to join a MLP site, so I looked for one via Yahoo back in June and here I am.

 

A year's quite a worthy milestone to be sure. More often than not, lasting a year is a sign that there's a strength within the community, which is certainly the case here.

I avoided pony forums like the plague until I grew dreadfully bored one day. My friend kept throwing the forums at me, so I eventually joined to see what was what. Needless to say, it was an impressive yet humble lil' site. A nice place to settle down into, regardless of whether I was late to the party or not. Glad I was able to share some memorable moments with its users! Thanks, MLPForums. You're growing up so fast -- it brings salt to my eyes! IT BURNS.

I remember reading about this site on a EQD nightly roundup but at the time it was just a page to sign-up your email address for a reminder when the site goes live. I think it was another EQD post when the site was opened that made me come over here.

It actually looked pretty damn fantastic for a forum that was only a day old. This place technically started on the 2nd, if you look at Feld0 and Kurtiss's profiles.

 

EqD was what brought me in, too. I obviously found it good enough to stick around.
