Romantic Fan Fiction!

Some questions for you about shipping! I hope this this is the right place for the thread, as it's about fan fiction but not an actual fic. But I'm looking for some inspiration and I want to know some of your favorite examples! I'll answer the questions myself later, when I get home from work. xD

I'm not going to lie, after the reading the Silent Ponyville side stories "To Shy for a Rainbow" and "A Rainbows Surprise" I developed a soft spot for Flutterdash. I kinda picked up a small one a VinylxOctavia too, both are odd because I'm not usually into slash.

 

I'm not a hardcore shipper though, I just kinda just passively enjoy it. I will point out though that I don't really like explicit sex scenes at all, I prefer when the writer just implies it. The part about shipfics I like is the romance itself and the love between the characters.

Even though I don't actually like stories about it, I like pics. Especially one I saw about OctaviaxRarity.

I remember reading a fic on fimfiction that shipped the reader (you) as a pony with rarity, it was actually written really well. the fic was called: The Next In Line

Best ship Solarshy, Best shipfic "Dashing through Equestria" Witch I havent finished... Its about mmy OC and Fluttershy searching all over equestria for angel bunny the whole time even though they were friends in the begining becoming a bit more attracted to eachother etc. etc. Its not in any way a clopfic its just a light shipfic. As for best existing ship I would have to say... Cheerimac simply because it replaces Fluttermac

DashXSpitfire & DashXApplejack are my two main ones.

I believe their personalities work well together, in each respective relationship.

'Stuck' for Applejack. Can't think of any for SpitDash.

My fanfics...well, I prefer ones that are well detailed overal. They must have good detail to the characters and how they should act appropriately; not that whole make someone feel lovy dovy because that's how YOU want it seen. At least put some effort to show why the character now acts that way.

 

Romance, I've not been a huge fan of but I'll still read if it has a good plot to it. I don't have a usual pairing at all for any story so long as it's well written and believable for the reader.

 

Fanfics I didn't like? Specifically, Cupcake. It was just horrible, the chapters were so clumped together and the story was way too choppy. It didn't explain why Pinky had gotten to like that. And the residen'ts just vanishing without anyone noticing, really? I mean the story insinuated that Applebloom was pretty involved in it and she would've been caught so darn quickly, her dissapearing in that cage should've sent a signal out to the community something was wrong immediately. Bad story, didn't feel thought out well enough, hated it.

 

I haven't gotten the chance to read a really good one, most of the ones I used to read either vanished or just aren't complete enough so I don't feel like posting up anything from them.

I'm a huge sucker for SpikeXRarity, also RainbowXan oblivious Twilight (more for the drama than anything)

3. Why do those pairings interest you in particular?

RXS: because I adore both characters and the concept of both them trying to cope with their race difference is fascinating to me

RDXT: Because I'd love to see how Rainbow would deal with it

I like Pinkie Pie and I'm okay with almost any pairing involving her.

Most ones with her paired with Rainbow Dash.
