Celestia snapped out of her trance at the sound of the pony's voice, "Hm? Oh yes, I'm fine," she said, "Thank you, I was just.......thinking about a book that seems to have gotten lost. That's all....." This wasn't a complete lie, Celestia told herself, it did seem to revolve around that strange book. Celestia felt it best not to alarm any of her subjects, especially Rainbow Dash. "Forgive me, but I can't seem to remember your friend's name, Rainbow Dash! Would you mind introducing me?"

"This is just perfect." Rotto thought aloud. "She's exactly like I thought she would be. I'm going to be able to do this so easily. I might even get to have a little fun." He reached into his coatpocket, pulled something out, then put it back in after giving it a quick look.

"Shall we head into the Gala then, find something to do until it is time, or should we go ahead and due this?" Shadow asked, watching more ponies enter. It seemed as if some from Ponyville were there, which was going to make things much harder. Oh I hope that one, Flaret I think it was, is here. She said to herself.

"What!" Hirue cried. "Why do I have to go with her? A pony!"

 

"Because without you I cannot guarantee that she will complete her task. There are many guards here, and we need someone to kill them."

Rainbow Dash gave Celestia a concerned look before she was reassured that everthing was okay "This is Storm Fire Princess Celestia he's my....uh....um....well date for the Gala." She blushed a deep red obviously embarassed about it. She had never felt love like this for another pony before but she liked the feeling. "You seem distracted your Highness is there anything that we can do to help you?" Storm questioned his ears twitched when he heard the sound of someone trying to sell apples off in the distance. Dash jumped up as she saw a star go shooting through the night sky, closing her eyes she made a wish that came from her heart. "Well what did you wish for Dash?" She gave him a nudge giggling "I can't tell you Storm otherwise it wont come true." Storm laughed looking off to his right his knees started to shake the person he was hoping to meet was walking right towards them.

Celestia smiled warmly at Storm Fire, "It is a pleasure to meet you Storm Fire," she said then she proceeded to gently tease the couple, "How do you manage to keep her on the ground long enough to take her on a date? Or, more importantly, get her to go to a Gala with you?"

Storm had a hard time focusing with Shining Armor and Cadence walking in their direction but he got his focus back "Well keeping her on the ground is hard but since i wanna hold her close this is the only easy way. Now for the Gala part we kinda just bumped into eachother but the race we had earlier kinda sparked something in both of us." Storm smiled at Celestia and then at Rainbow Dash. Dash blushed again when Storm smiled at her "He's just lucky he's so cool otherwise this probably wouldn't work like it has already." Dash grinned cheekily. Once Cadance and Shining Armor stopped to talk Storm froze but Dash gave him a nudge blushing once Cadance commented on how cute they looked together. "Um Shining Armor if you and Celestia approve I would like to join the royal gaurd." Storm swallowed a lump in his throat when he was asked what he could bring to the gaurd. "Trust me Shining Armor he's really fast and he can do something no other Pegasus can do....go on Storm show them." Dash urged him and watched as Storm stomped his hoof creating a ball of fire in the air before turning it into a streak of fire and manipulating it before making it burn out.

Celestia was rather surprised at this.....in all her years she'd never encountered such an ability! Unfortunately, Celestia hadn't been kept fully up to speed since.........a long time ago.........she missed her dear friend.........one of the last survivors of the Discord Wars........he was one of her most loyal guards...............her heart sank with nostalgia.......

Celestia snapped back to reality, "While I'm sure you are very qualified to be on the Royal Guard you will have to ask Commander Armor later about enlisting. I'm afraid the Gala isn't the proper time nor place for us to handle affairs of recruitment....:

"Fine then, come on you stupid demon, but if I hear anything negative out of you, or if you just go around killing random ponies, I will not feel bad having to kill you." She said, walking in though the Gala. There were defiantly a lot of ponies here, but it didn't matter, all she had to do was head to a tower or something to cast a spell. She headed for a closed door, gently opening it and walking inside.

Hirue slowly walked behind her. If it weren't for his sunglasses with round lenses that would have been stylish thirty years ago, everyone would be able to see the pure anger behind his eyes.

 

 

 

Butajiri met up with Rotto in the castle hall. "Did you find the one you've planned for?" he asked.

 

"Oh, yes." Rotto chuckled. "Twilight Sparkle. She's just perfect. I can get her to do whatever I want!"

Rarity shook hank away, and flipped through a book. She sighed and put it under her dress, then ran off to meet Celestia. She had no idea WHY she was acting weirdly. But she had some sort of sensation too...she sighed, and sat flat on some random steps.

 

"Why am I always the one they rescue? Why can't I be in the action? Why am I the delicate angel instead of the action-packed?" Rarity wondered out loud, then sighed. She looked at her Element of Generosity necklace, and "cracked" it. Well, an Illusion of a crack, at least. Using some fancy curtains, she made a cloak over her, then attempted to melt into the crowd. She was tired of being Dress-Maker Rarity...She was tired of who she was.

The dark of the night highlighted Twilights features. A kind of familiar nostalgia washed over him. His perfect memory flashed like a slide show all the times he spent with her. A glaze came over his eyes. Twilight took notice. It wasn't abnormal, Celestia had told her many nights that he had had a troubled past and that she meant something special to him. She raised a hoof up to his mussel and caressed it.

 

"Twilight, I hope you know what you mean to me. There's only been one other like you, and that was farther back than you could imagine. I looked for you so long, I've lived thousands of times over those years, but they were the longest i have ever lived. Food lessend in the already diminished taste I had. Through the memories of the bloodshed and genocide, through the harrowing screams of fire and death, through every bloodied body,"

 

Twilight shook him a bit, and his eyes grew smaller, snapping him back to reality, "Through everything, I have thought about you: when you were just a filly, before your brother would come get you, at nights when I stood watch outside of the Princesses room; and the few nights, rooms, I watched you turn into the beautiful mare you are today. As your body matured, as you did, I began to see you as more than that little filly."

 

Twilight looked at him with a confusion, and understanding. She had missed him, one of the few friends she had then, and in her maturing years she had some sort of attraction to him but she wasn't sure yet. She didn't know what they would do together, she knew his likes and dislikes, hers as well, but he had some sort of relationship with celestia that he had described as open. She didn't know if she could share him.

 

"Ma... Skullkin," The dropping of the honorific seemed to relay a rejection to him, "I'd just like some time. We both know eachother well enough, but these things take time. It's not a no, but its not a yes yet." Skullkins eyes began to water once again, he embraced her, wetting her neck with the torrents of tears that flowed.

 

A familiar and regal voice cut through the moment.

"Perfect." Rotto said as he walked out from the shadows in his boots and green Jacket, interrupting their moment. "I had been told that you had good manners, but I see now that that was wrong." He gave a cocky smirk. "You do know it's rude to walk out on someone in the middle of a conversation, right? I suppose I'm willing to forgive you."

Hank watches Rarity walk off and sighs. 'i guess we wont hang out than?" He walks off as his 11 AIs appeared around his head as he stood out a lot from the group of ponies. Some look amazed and some look scared. They cleared away from him as he kept walking. The panels on his neck glows slightly showing which ones are active and which are not.

Beta looks at Hank " Its ok Hank, i am sure you can find somepony to hang out with maybe that.... Twilight Sparkle pony?" Hank nods and went to look for Twilight as he walks up to her not noticing Skullkin

Skullkin cut his emprace short, and smashed the jacketed colt against the cobble stone walls. He bared his teeth at the young thing.

 

"You've tread upon the road of evil, child. Nary the sun nor moon know to fiddle with the emotions of fellow immortals. By the mare herself I would dash your lungs out of your chest, if it not be a joyous night."

Skullkin cut his emprace short, and smashed the jacketed colt against the cobble stone walls. He bared his teeth at the young thing.

 

"You've tread upon the road of evil, child. Nary the sun nor moon know to fiddle with the emotions of fellow immortals. By the mare herself I would dash your lungs out of your chest, if it not be a joyous night."

 

"Careful now." Rotto said in a calm tone. "There are a lot of guards here. I haven't done anything to justify assault. Attack me now and you'll be arrested. This isn't the place for violence. Let's all act like civil equines, shall we? You don't want the guards to see you forcing me to the wall, do you?" What Rotto said was true. Although they were in a secluded area, there was often small groups of guards that passed by.

(by the way, Rottos a couple centuries older than he looks, as with most Yokai.)

(That really shouldn't justify this. He is technically assaulting a complete innocent right now, and the guards will still arrest him for that. It's also pretty out of character for Twilight not to try and stop him.)

 

"My guess is someone who doesn't understand the meaning of the word assault and how illegal it is. Now will you unhand me? I'd like to speak to Twilight."

Twilight touched his foreleg, a sort of frustration about her. The ancient warrior let the colt down, having recived his wrist slap from twilight.

 

"Good stallion, you'll very much have to forgive him. He forgets that these aren't the olden times," She flashed another glare at him, reciving a sight of begrudging shrinking from him.

 

"He's just... protective. Now let us go somewhere a little safer for you." As they headed toward the gardens, Skullkin felt pangs of inward and outward anger. He breathed a moment, only stimming rather than damming the tide of fury he had come to be known for, and slunk both angrily and dejectedly away.

Rotto smiled only when he knew neither of them were looking. 'What a disgrace that war pony is' he thought to himself, 'All that talk and he didn't even get the kill! He forgets what makes those so called 'old times' so dark!'

 

"So," he began as he followed Twilight into the garden. "I know this sounds like it has nothing to do with you, but I assure you it does. I'm here with two close friends. We're working on something very delicate and we were looking to see if you could help us get a little privacy."

Celestia twisted her head toward where the commotion was centered, she saw Twilight Sparkle, another younger pony, and.........."Skullkin?!" She blurted, flapping her wings and flying over to the stallion, "Is that really you? How can that be?" She was at a loss for words seeing him after all these years, "I thought......." her voice trailed off, her face, she found, was making a smile that even Pinkie Pie would be jealous of.

No boastful tones or gloried nostalgia marred his words, no tone but the cold actualization of another compendium with his name scratched on it in red ink.

 

The whistful voice perked his ears.

 

"By the mare, my Princess," he intiated an archaic salute. pulling from his jacket a gold encrusted knife, he cut the bottom of his hoof open and bleed a hoof print on the ground just infront of her.

Storm looked at Shining Armor with hopeful eyes hearing him start to chuckle "I think that with that power of yours you'd be a perfect addition to the gaurd but it will all have to wait until after the Gala of course." Storm and Dash couldn't believe it "Wow I can't believe it but once everything is done with tonight you're going to start working for the Royal Gaurd." Dash couldn't contain her excitement. Storm just stood there with shaky legs unable to move he started to stutter before getting snapped out of it when Dash gave him a light peck on the cheek. "Um oh well....please excuse us I need time to process this and nothing says it better than food." Walking away Dash giggled hearing Cadance talking about how cute they looked together, they headed into an outer pavilion seeing a golden brown pony working a stand with food. Storm was instantly hungry when he saw all of the apple related food in front of him "Hey there AJ hows buisness going this time around?"
