I play Star Trek Online alot and ive started to notice something recently. People name their ships after MLP characters and i frequently see people make refences to Trek here. So i was just Curious how many people like both. I personally love Star Trek: The Original Series and DS9. I want to know if there are people that like both which Series are you all fans of!

I'm a massive TOS Trekkie. I also like TNG too but I find that Kirk just has that charisma that makes Star Trek what it is. Picard was, in a sense, a more boring character when compared to Kirk. But still, love the series, no matter what.

My favorite episode is probably The City On The Edge Of Forever. That episode actually made me shed a tear, since it was impossible for Kirk to stop his episode's lovers death and he just feels totally guilty about that.

I am a trekkie, not the biggest trekkie ever but still I love star trek. My friends think that is super dorky of me but pshaw how elso should a teenage girl spend her nights than star trek, doctor who, WoW, and MTG.

I have seen a lot of Next Gen. but from what I see classic is hardly on so I havent seen much. I have also watched a bit of voyager.

I don't know if I concider myself a Trekkie, but I'm currently watching through the Enterprise series. It started out because I ran out of series to watch and thought to myself: "Isn't there a series that is long so you don't run out of episodes so fast?" Star trek was the obvious answer :P

Much to my surprise I did enjoy Enterprise even though I'm not in any aspect a sci-fi fan.

The reason that I don't know if I'm a trekkie is that I don't love Star Trek. It's fun to watch from time to time, but nothing more than that.

  • 1 month later...

Ditto what Juggler said: "I don't know if I concider myself a Trekkie, but I'm currently watching through the Enterprise series."

After I'm done with Enterprise I plan (read: hope) to watch all of the ~600 other episodes or so, in chronological order.

Sadly, almost none of my friends watch either show.

Me, me, me!

When I was little (about 6 years ago xD), I could endlessly watch episodes from Star Trek: Voyager. In my opinion that's still the best 'saga' (if you'd like to call it that) from the Star Trek series.

I still love how every episode the formula is the same:

  • They encounter something.
  • Shit gets real.
  • Shields are down to 20% within the first few blasts and stuff explodes.
  • That one ensign at the bridge gets blown away from his console and the captain falls off her chair.
  • They negotiate or find a way out by doing some weird-ass science stuff.
  • Happy end /)^3^(

TOS is undoubtedly my favorite because they found themselves in more dangerous and fascinating circumstances than the cast of any other series, and they shared a camaraderie that none of the others knew. It's also more thrilling when the captain, who is also the main character, goes on dangerous away missions with everyone else. Voyager is second on my list because it perfectly melds the adventurous, cavalier nature of TOS with the philosophy and introspection of TNG, and Janeway is the hands-on type of captain who often finds herself in the thick of things.

I love Star-Trek, but I'm not sure which I like more.

MLP, or Star Trek... I'd say I enjoy both about the same, but MLP is better. Yet you can't discredit them because they are both different topics, and since one of them is real life show and the other is a cartoon I'm not sure how exactly they could compare.

Ive watched everything except the first two, but im not a total freak about it (i never learned klingon for example). Deep space 9 was boring as hell, voyager had a bit too much borg in it for my taste, next gen was great (i enjoyed watching data and his cat, was really sad when he died) and enterprise i absolutely loved - it had great acting, great and interesting story (and episode specific "sub-stories"), great effects and cgi, and i totally fell in love with the intro song...

I love that episode.

Dr. McCoy - You deliberately stopped me, Jim. I could have saved her. Do you know what you just did?

Spock - He knows, Doctor. He knows.

That was a truly heart breaking scene.

I do love Start Trek, but ponies I find more appealing, I did learn a little Klingon (facepalm)

But how come the OP didn't mention something like "how many bronies are also Galacticans?" Come one Battlestar galactica was the bees knees and How!

(okay maybe that was too many decades back there)

Star trek is awesome, I wish we had a new series rather than the film reboot.

Fans of Star Trek should try watching SFDebris' reviews, he's quite funny and takes the show very seriously. He also does all sorts of sci-fi and fantisy, including the first mlp:FiM episodes, he isn't a brony though. http://blip.tv/sf-de...-review-5658418

Twilight Sparkle is Rorschach!!!!

Be warned, some naughty swears, so you little kids stay away.

I suppose I am seen as one, though I don't label myself as such. I just enjoy the show, the concept, technology, and many other things about it. TNG is my favorite, followed by Voyager, and then TOS. Never cared for DS9 much since it seemed like all they ever did was talk and focus on Odo commenting that he thinks Quark is up to something. I'll watch any series except Enterprise though, but the ships from that series are pretty sweet. Some of my favorites in games because those hulls sure can take a beating. Oh, and blue ship phaser were much cooler than the shift to red. All my ships in STO use the blue. :D

Whenever I am sick I normally toss ST:Generations in and get the best of both captains. Plus the Enterprise B is sooo sexy, too bad she was the Titanic of the bunch.

Also love Firefly and Doctor Who (anything not dealing with the current 11th Doctor). I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi that actually has more to it than just good vs evil, black vs white, light vs dark, etc. Not that I hate SW, I just don't like it as much.

I'm not a trekkie, though I have seen... I think it was The Next Generation series and I liked it. I've also seen some of the movies (not the newest one), but seriously I'm not a trekkie. A true trekkie would have seen ALL of the episodes from all series.

I do like me some Star Trek! I like the way it's popular media with a brain. Star Trek science doesn't hold up very well to scrutiny (engineers might as well be magicians), but all of the Trek incarnations use thought-provoking ideas. Getting along with very different people from ourselves, what it means to be responsible, what is the measure of a person -- stuff like that. So I guess Star Trek and MLP aren't as different as one would think!

I think The Next Generation was the best, most solid Trek, but Voyager is my personal favourite despite its flaws. DS9 bores me to tears. And I don't like classic Trek one bit; it has that retro feel where the "future" isn't really any different from the 1960's, which bugs the heck out of me.

I've watched TOS, Next Generation, Voyager, some of DS9, and a little bit of Enterprise. I've also seen most of the films and played some Star Trek video games. I guess I'm a Trekkie. My favorite series is TNG.

I'm also a big fan of Star Wars and Doctor Who.

I know for a fact Ninjaneer loves Star Trek, but I've never really gotten into it. I kind of want to, but I'm not sure where to start.

How about... the beginning? That's what I'm doing with Doctor Who. I've watched all available episodes from the First Doctor and now I'm on the Fifth Doctor, Season 20. Edited by Koori

I love sci-fi, but I've never really liked Star Wars or Star Trek. *Flinches*

Mass Effect is both best sci-fi game AND best sci-fi movie, the story is that good.

Agreed! I always have the feeling that one gets to blend far better with the story when it's a computer game. I think it's because of the fact that you control the characters and therefore get the feeling that you somehow control the story (which you actually do in games like Mass Effect).

The awesome graphics and incredible storyline sure puts the Mass Effect trilogy far up my list too

And the best thing about the entire Mass Effect trilogy is that the story, all the choices you've made, follow you to the very end from the first game to the third game. That's the kind of game I like very much. It's like you create your own movie trilogy.

Aren't there several different Star Trek series and movies that have come out over the years, though? Guess I should just start with the earliest series.
