So a friend and I are planning a MLP project, and we need your guy's opinions.

Hey guys!

A friend and I have been planning a large scale Brony project for the last few months, and we’re now reaching a stage where we think we can introduce the project to the fandom. We're happy to say that on top of a few big-name community members, some of the official MLP staff has agreed to join us on our endeavor – from voice actors, animators, writers and more.

***EDIT: I've posted the official project outline on this thread. Check it out if you have a moment!***

But before we continue pursuing this idea, we’d like to know whether it will be a good investment of our time.

Thus, I have three questions for everyone here on the forums. They might seem simplistic, off topic, and maybe even obvious, but we want to re-affirm what we *think* we already know.

The first question is basic: Do you enjoy convention Q&A panels? (Whether watching in person, on YouTube, etc.)

The second is a bit different: Can you attend Q&A panels? Obviously there are no hard-and-fast answers to this question, but I’d like to know how many of us can actually manage to align their schedules with conventions. (Ex: “No, because my college schedule is too hectic.”, “Yes, I’m free almost every day.”, "No, it costs too much to travel.", etc.)

And the last question: Is there a particular person/panel that you'd like to ask a question to? / Do you have a question that you're dying to ask someone? The questionee could be anyone - official staff, Brony musicians, or someone completely different.

It would be great if you guys could share your thoughts, as we're trying to finish the planning stage of our project, and move on to the fun part - making this project a reality.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Number one: nope. I would rather spend my time re-watching season 2.

Number 2: Nope. No car.

Number 3: Actually I would like to know how they animated the ponies besides flash.

I do enjoy watching them on Youtube, as I've never had the chance to see one in person. I've wanted to, but I don't have the time to travel. If there was one in say Indianapolis I would go to that one.

I honestly want to. but I don't have the time nor the money to drive long distances for a panel.

Not a particular person, and not a particular question. (maybe some of the fandom's popular musicians)

May I ask what kind of project is it?

1. I do like watching them but it very very much depends on the persons at the panel. If they are someone that I'm interested to hear about then sure, if not then I won't bother.

2. I live in Denmark and the chances of any conventions being held here that are of my interests are low. Travelling to other countries would cost too much and besides, I can't bother to fly over to some other country just for a day or two for some convention.

3. Yea some. I would like to ask the animators of the show some questions and maybe some of the more popular of the fandom's musicians. I can't really think of any specific questions though.

I am very curious as to what this is about - do tell more if you want/can!

Trust me, I want to describe it - it's just that it takes multiple pages worth of text to get the full idea across. That, and we're not quite finished planning yet. There are quite a few prerequisite jobs that we have to finish before we'll be comfortable enough to present it. (Because we don't want to offer an idea and suddenly have to turn around and inform people that we can't follow through with it.)

It's actually three sub-projects combined into one, with the focus being on an psuedo-interactive filming project. All three sub projects are things that we haven't seen done yet, so we *hope* that they'll all unique in their own rights. Like I said in the original post, I'll present the full idea once we get a fair collection of responses. :)

Oops, I should rephrase this a little: we have seen similar things done (so I can't really say that it will be anything mind blowing), but we're throwing a unique twist onto each aspect of it - and hopefully that uniqueness will be something that everyone will enjoy.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? So far the answers have been what was expected, but I'd like to hear what the rest of you have to say as well! :P

1. yes

2. no, they are usually in america, im in ireland, so the cost would be too much

Mysterious projects? This piques my interest, though I must confess there isn't much I can say about it when you've hardly revealed any concrete information, CloudFyre.

1) To be honest, I've never really watched any panels; but I find the idea quite appealing.

2) Probably not. As I'm still a minor, travelling anywhere outside of Vancouver is virtually out of the question.

3) Oh man. This kind of question makes me go all "I must not waste this chance." :P It's really hard for me to choose any one particular person to ask a single question to; but I would cherish an opportunity to hold and publish a full-blown interview with a member of the FiM team. The questions I'd ask would depend on who's available.

If you guys need a website, or a host for one, let me know - that falls into my field of expertise. :)

GO FOR IT!!! :D

1) never been to a panel in my life, can't afford it

2) no, see #1

3) I don't know if I'd actually ask any questions to them......I guess all I could really think to say to the makers of MLPFiM is, "Thank you, this show gives me something to look forward to on a bad day, and the fandom it's started has led me to many new friendships."

Hey! Look who dropped by! I wasn't expecting that XD

Don't worry about it! Answering the questions was all I needed. I apologize for the "vagueness" of it all, but I left it that way intentionally. If all goes well, we should be ready to post the full project idea within the next couple of weeks.

Haha, you sound like a person that shares the same interests as I do!. Tech stuff is right up my alley, so if it involves computers, I'm already there. In fact, I'm actually taking a HTML/CSS course at college as a refresher from what I learned in high school, which will come in handy if we should decide to make a custom web page.

Do you enjoy convention Q&A panels?

Fuck Yes. Last year I spent $3k for my wife and myself to get costumes, VIP access and lodging for the Grand Masquerade 2011 to hear what CCP has planned for the long-awaited World of Darkness MMO. I don't take an IP seriously all that often, but when I do...I take this shit very seriously.

Can you attend Q&A panels?

Yes financially, "maybe" when it comes to scheduling. I routinely spend $100+ on concert tickets with the assumption that my work will prevent me from attending the show. As I type this, I don't know if my work schedule will allow me to return home in time for me to enjoy the Dethklok tickets I've bought (twice; long story) now.

Is there a particular person/panel that you'd like to ask a question to? / Do you have a question that you're dying to ask someone?

My question to Ashleigh Ball: how do you see Dashy's influence affecting Scoot's achievement of her mark? Will it hurt or help the filly's efforts? Will it give her the edge she needs to break down the walls and truly make a name for herself? Bonus points: what do you think about Faust's claim that Scootaloo is disabled, and how will this shape the future of Equestria's most beloved flightless Pegasus?

Thanks in advance everyone.

No, thank you sir. You are boss for making this line of questioning mainstream.

Hahaha, I'm not sure if this one thread suddenly makes it "mainstream", but thanks for the kind words nonetheless. :)

(For the record, that Luna profile pic is just plain mean. It made me go "Daaaawwww-eeagh! What the..." :P)

First question: That depends entirely on the panel. Panels with people from the show are often fairly entertaining in my opinion. However, I am only interested in that part, so I am the kind of person who is liable to leave once they leave the panel.

Second question: Unless it is set in southern Norway, chances are that I cannot attend. I am studying at a University, so I don't have the money or time to travel very far.

Last question: Not really, I have never been one for coming up with original and funny questions.

I like to do requests. Please, if there is something you want to see me, an amateur, draw for you, just send me a PM with the details and I'll say yay or nay. Most likely yay.

Trust me, we'll need help later on. Right now it's just a matter of planning and getting things set up so that we don't find ourselves between a rock and a hard place. :)

so you're saying I could animate for you? Potentially? if you need an Animator, I'm the man for the job, whoops. Pony for the job. I have some animation esperience but don't expect a Lauren Faust animation.

Possibly, if that's something that interests you. I don't think we'll be animating much of anything (save name banners, intros/outros, etc.), but if the need arises I'll let you know :)

Update: I think that with the responses that you guys have given us, this will probably go over well. If you want to check out the project, head on over to the official thread here.

Thanks guys!
