YoureDown 45 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Well, I have met many on the internet, which is a usual thing, but today something that I think isnt usual happened. Some guy In real life saw my brony shirt and rainbow dash necklace, and just came up to me and start yelling at me about how gay and stupid I am. well, of course I did not yell back at him that he is "gay" or anything of the sort, I explained why in my opinion he is wrong, but then... he actually started physically hurting me, there, I just showed him the polite way to get someone off you (which is explaining his rights to him, and asking him to stop or I would have to call the police). I did my best to not insult or hurt him, you kinda know why. But my question is, have you ever met a hater in real life? And if so, how did you react to him?
CloudFyre 848 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Yikes, I've had a few encounters with haters, but I haven't had anything physical happen to me. I'm glad to know that you're safe at the very least.

I'm surprised he came like that to me, before I became a brony I trained to be able to kill people with one fist. kinda usefull in the army. BUT I AM VERY GLAD I NEVER HAD TO USE THAT! Smokin'HotRarity 182 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 (edited) Interesting, I have never really met a hater in real life, except one guy, who wasn't too bad. If they were, they were closet haters. The most I have seen is people hating on other bronies online, not really myself in particular. Edited November 6, 2012 by Smokin'HotRarity S.V.R. Stop. Yeah I also thought I'd never see a hater in real life, since haters get the "This is the internet, im behind 3 proxys" effect. but this one was pretty brave to hate on mlp irl like that.
Rainbow Skywalker 642 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Well I've met plenty honestly. But I guess this could be because I like Star Wars and MLP. Some of the 2 most hated things in society as of today, still not the most, but they're pretty damn close. I started off just ignoring them like everybody says, but then I started giving them what they want, a reaction. I started making it into a joke like "Ay bruh, don't make me go all yoda on yo ass" and they'll just laugh. And if anybody touches you, beat the shit out of 'em for me will ya? 4 Signature by Azura みぞれ 恋人 (:
Flying Whales 311 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Wow, that is crazy. Of course the haters always come off as petty, and altogether ass holes. It’s different if it is your friend giving you a hard time but some random? Not so much. I think it is pretty funny that while he attempts to physically harm you, you just stay calm and still don’t raise your voice at him. I’m sure during this whole altercation he just looked completely ridiculous. Good for you for keeping your cool. I haven’t met a random hater in real life, but recently my parents and I had sort of an argument over it and I was quite displeased. 1 Signature Courtesy of Like A Boss
AegisReflector 886 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 I've fortunately have only met a few Brony haters who just are all talk and name-calling while having no muscle to back them up. But if someone has to resort to meaningless violence just because they hate a television show and it's culture then they have some serious mental issues.

Lost Profile 644 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Haters are funy! Oh the number of hating freshmen at my school... They think there like a boss... Thinking that a bully's weakness is bronyhood... When really, it just gives them a cracked skull... And they don't learn... Every time they say something about me being a brony, they end up in the hospital... XD
PonyEcho 1,610 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 (edited) well there was a time i had a pint glass smashed over my head over the excuse that i was a brony i.e. i had a Twilight mini fig that i take with me when i go out drinking (Twilight is best wing mare) but that guy was drunk and got knock out by my mate moments after. other then that i did encounter a hater at my local comic book store who was picking on another brony so I stepped in, and it was the only time dead pool was ever useful. i find it best not to change the haters opinion on MLP , just explain that there the ones getting so worked up over ponies. Well I commend you for keeping calm, but that kind of behavior should not be tolerated from just some random person... at least you say you're ok now, but just remember we're all here for you man.

He charged at you just cuz he got a little mad when you said he was wrong? That man has some anger issues. Ah well, its a good thing to see you didn't get hurt. As for your question, nah i haven't met a real life hater. Then again, i'm not super open about me being a Brony. I don't wear T-shirts all the time or anything. Winona the Dog 1,984 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Wow that's stupid for someone to get physical over something as silly as a show (what is this world coming too?) Personally i havent met any brony-haters in real life save my dad but otherwise i live in a brony neutral town.

Tol'Satha 163 November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 I know exactly how you feel. One of my former classmates is a hater, and he was doing his best to make my life miserable. He took every opportunity to make me look like an idiot infront of others, and even attacked me once when i talked back at him (i dont ussualy, but he started mentioning my family, i cant tolerate that)

I have told my friends that I am and they bug me about it, but don't really care. People do that because they are insecure about things they don't understand. If they actually knew how many of us are out there, then they wouldn't be so brave like that. If I met a hater I would ignore them and keep walking. But if I seen a friend or someone that I like being attacked by a hater I would stand up and rush to their aid. I don't care so much that I am messed with, it's when my friends are involved, Edited November 7, 2012 by Shining Star
Wingnut 6,990 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 Sorry to hear you had to go through that. I don't have anything MLP related that I can wear. But I do have a Powerpuff Girl T-shirt I only wore once in public, to San Diego Comic Con. On the one hand, I got a couple compliments for it, including one person who admired me for being "brave" enough to wear it in public. On the other hand, one guy saw it started talking to me in a mocking little girl voice. That rubbed me the wrong way, but it wasn't totally unexpected. But here's the thing. If haters are going to insult you because of your shirt at a convention where ALL kinds of material is worn from the babyish to the risque to the gory, I can just imagine the flack we'd get from random thugs on the street where appearing tough is often required. Retro*Derpy 3,183 November 7, 2012 Share November 7, 2012 (edited) Wow if he attacked me as he did you, someone, (which probably not me) would of been laying on the ground crying with a broken face. But the funny thing is, I am friends with quite a bit of brony haters. Makes since don't it :3. I wouldn't call myself a brony, since I don't love and tolerate haters. It is good though that you got out safe. Edited November 7, 2012 by Retro_Derpy

I hate to admit this but I used to be a hater........and a BIG one at that TT3TT I would seriously hurt people emotionally with the things I would say.......... as for dealing with them when I encounter them today, tell 'em to go piss up a rope if they can't be mature enough to respect your hobbies, then they are not worth your time Edited November 7, 2012 by Red

Even with haters and fandoms, there IS a line to draw of what to say to each other. If I were a hater, I wouldn't be so stupid as to physically hurt a person who likes something that I hate or in the matter say anything at all. They like, I don't like it, meh, I'm fine, I don't know them anyway, their opinion. Doing something that crosses that line would result in you looking like a total dumbass and making your side look exceptionally stupid. 1 "If you can't make the moon interesting, try setting it on fire"- Void Chicken
Betez 1,734 November 8, 2012 Share November 8, 2012 The guy sounds like a jerk. I wouldn't take it personal. Like you said, he's just a hater. It's his own loss since he hasn't seen the show. Don't let it get to you. Some people are just like that... 1 My OC Stay pony my friends"And ALWAYS remember...to never forget." - Someone who I'm sure has said this before I did
~WhiteHawk~ 186 November 8, 2012 Share November 8, 2012 Damn, I've never met a hater in real life, much less someone that tried to physically assault me. I guess it's because I'm a girl, so people decide that it's fine for me to watch the show (which is total bullshit by the way, treat me as an equal dammit). But you definitely dealt with it well. Like Betez said, don't take it personally. My opinion is that anyone so ignorant to make an opinion without looking into it first isn't worth the air to talk to. Why waste your time fighting with haters instead of watching more ponies?
Vodrii 22 November 8, 2012 Share November 8, 2012 ooooh, i've met a hater before. I was drawing the mane 6 in school and some of my language arts classmates came up to me and started being VERY rude and saying that i'm so immature for liking ponies.
