Since I get most of my music from youtube I would have to say that download is my favorite, cartridge is my least favorite because though they are durable there really aren't all that many devices these days that can play cartridges. I didn't really like CD's at first due to the fact that they are so fragile but when I got used to them this became a bit less of a problem for me, you just have to be careful. What I do when I pick up a CD is I grab it by putting my finger into the hole and my thumb on the edge of the CD.

I honestly like CDs. They can hold a lot more songs than tapes (I assume that's what you mean when you say cartridges, right?). While they do scratch, I feel like if you take care of them, they last longer than tapes. However, downloads are my favorite, since I can put the songs right onto my IPod. But, if it's an album I really like, I'll buy the CD so I can listen to it in a CD player or in the car. (I don't like the way my iHome speakers sound, and my car doesn't have a place to insert an iPod.)

the OP actually is talking about GAMES, not MUSIC. but i guess it's OK to discuss what kind of medium you like other things to be on, as well?

anyway, i don't dislike downloads at all. i just tend to get them when they're really cheap, something that's quite easy to get with digital distribution. cartridges have a more physical 'feel' to them than CDs do, but they can also be rather vulnerable. that chip (or magnetic tape for music) is going to wear itself out over time.

CDs are the most convenient form of physical medium because it's distributed under a standard form of manufacturing. they can actually last pretty long if you take good care of them! and unless the scratches are deep, you can use a kind of laser-technology to clean the discs from scratches.

so in general, i like them all i guess?

Cartridges are superior to all forms of information storage. I/e GBA, Nes, snes, DS, 3DS, Atari 2600, and N64.

Cds suck because they break easy, they don't look nice and the CD-I.

Downloads are okay but they don't collect value like cds and cartridges.

I prefer CDs. I usually find crack programs, so I typically just install the game, download a crack, and the CD goes away forever. Or at least until I need to reinstall the game for whatever reason.
