gaming Happy Birthday to Shigeru Miyamoto, The Father of Gaming

Today is the birthday of Shigeru Miyamoto. He turns 60 years old today. He is the incredible man responsible for the many great franchises that are published from gaming company Nintendo, including Super Mario Bros. And The Legend of Zelda. This man basically sculpted my gaming childhood. His imagination and creativity is virually unparalleled. His creations are his legacy. I would like to make this thread as a tribute to the Father of Gaming, Shigeru Miyamoto. And I would like to present this:

He's defiantly gamines adoptive father, were it not for him, the Nintendo revolution would've never happened, and gamers might still be playing games from the arcade, rather then at home. So to Shigeru Miyamoto, I wish for you to have the happiest of birthdays, may your creations carry you onwards into eternity.

Happy birthday....

Amake some more Zelda please :3

But for the love of all things nintendo, no more motion controls....

Seriously... Zelda like many of oyu, defined my childhood, along with some mario.

Change the title. As much as he might have influenced gaming (Which is debatable) calling him the "Father" of gaming comes off as fanboyish, and will get under people's skin. Especially people who aren't Nintendo fans... Edited by Urdnot Shepard

Miyamoto = Father of Gaming?

Sorry, but that's simply not true at all. He's a creative genius and all but he's certainly not a father.

I am kind of disillusioned with the Mario franchise at this point, but let's hope that Zelda Wii U and Pikmin 3 kicks some major ass!

Father of Gaming? No, just no.

Sure, he is an icon loved by many people around the world but he did not invent gaming...

Yeah, I think he's a cool guy and stuff but he is not the father of gaming.

Don't know who he is 'cause I've never been to into Nintendo, and when you said father of gaming, I immediately thought "the guy who made Pong?"

Either way, it seems this guy's behind some pretty famous and classic games, so, I suppose that's good.

Happy birthday to him!

I wouldn't say father, but people have to realize if it weren't for him, gaming would've died way long ago. Thanks to him, he made gaming a popular trend again back then.

I would say a more fitting title would be reviver of gaming.

This is so biased...

There was already a sega console and other handheld consoles by the time nintendo released theirs so they never really revolutionized anything, not to mention that pc games already exist back then.Games like zelda and mario didn't really inspire the industry much and they remain a niche market.

Capcom's formula seems to be more widely copied than nintentdo's

Okay, I don't want to seem like I'm not trying start a flame war or anything of the like, but the subject of the thread is mainly, "Happy Birthday Shigeru Miyamoto". The other part is the father of gaming, you knew this upon entering the thread, if you don't agree with the statement that's fine, but don't acuse people of being biased, also the very least you could've done was wish the man a happy birthday. Plus if your really that against Mario, Zelda, or Nintendo in general, you probably shouldn't have even opened the thread to begin with. Have a good day all.

I'm not against Nintendo. I grew up with a Nintendo system. I just found the statement of him being the "father" of gaming to be incredibly biased and unfair and I am allowed to share my opinion on that because it's part of the topic title, therefore, on topic. :P

When someone posts content you have to be careful on how you word things otherwise you can expect these kinds of responses.

He may not have invented gaming, but he sure as heck helped save it and move it forward. All of the games he makes, from Zelda to Mario, have been ground breaking and set the standards for their respective genres. Before the NES launched, gaming was in a pithole. When the NES and Super Mario Bros. launched, gaming made a HUGE comeback. All the the ips he creates are unique, innovative. He helped drive the industry forward.

That is why I call him "The Father Of Gaming". Feel free to agree or disagree, but my stance will stay unchanged.
