FoxyCryptid 4,330 October 27, 2013 Share October 27, 2013 All I know is I'm in need of a new EDC knife because the fact the Kershaw I've been carrying is hollow-ground to the point of being fairly think in the bulk of the blade is taking it's toll and it's starting to slightly warp and bend from use. FoxyCryptid 4,330 October 31, 2013 Share October 31, 2013 I swung by Orslens after much debating and grabbed a new EDC knife, it's called a Gerber Profile(which I had to double check because the store display didn't name it, and the name of the knife was only written underneath the barcode on the box). It appears to be nice, I like the feel and blade finish, and it's really damn sharp(as the bald spot on my arm can attest). The pony is to show size: "You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. Funny, I was thinking the fingernail clippers were the weird item. Even when I lived in California I carried illegally. Once I find a decent holster for my 9mm I will carry that instead. Funnier still, no permit is required for concealed carry of firearms where I live. Some rules don't make sense to me and that is why I break them without fear of consequences. I do not recommend this for everyone. Be responsible, people!

Because there's no practical use for a knuckle duster aside from being a pansy that can't learn to use you're own damn fists if the emergency arises, and I agree with the laws against switchblades and butterflies knives being stupid, but considering a good folding knife that opens easy with one hand get's the job done just fine I don't see a reason to take the legal risk carrying them. Of course I think a knife should be a last resort in that regard, and I mean like "crushing your throat and it's the only way to get loose" last resort. The reason I carry one is for utility tasks(which is why I bought that decent sized 3.5 inch Gerber up there, I like to know I'm got something sturdy in my hand when working) "You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. First off, kiddo, I do know how to use my fists, but of course I use my brain first to avoid fighting to begin with. Cracks me up every time some one assumes I am weak for being tactically smarter, or 'pansy', if you will. Knuckles are a combat multiplier, simple as that. Fighting "fair" was something I abandoned long ago after getting my ass kicked too many times. I am not that big or strong and am too handsome to risk facial damage. Honestly though, I have never used them in a fight and hopefully won't have to. I agree that lethal/excessive force should be the last resort. Although, I'm more of an eye gouge guy as opposed to throat crushing.

Although, I'm more of an eye gouge guy as opposed to throat crushing. Unless you for some reason have a "career" that involved constant street fighting, you don't need a combat multiplier(nor would I even call that one, against someone with experience knuckles would be just as worthless as your bare fist if they know how to counter a punch). It doesn't increase reach like a club, nor present the risk involved in getting a sharp knife from someone, all it does magnify the force of a punch. And with right training you could honestly learn to do far more damage with your body alone(and possibly the environment). There's literally zero point in taking the legal risk when there's more effective things that are actually legal to pack around. lomk 20,663 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 (edited) Pictures are better? Well here we go! If we're talking pockets only, then I'm only carrying my car keys, my phone, and my checkbook. Usually I'm carrying my backpack so here's the list of things in no particular order Samsung Galaxy S4 with OtterBox Defender case and charger Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Earpollution Headphones Toshiba Portégé Ultrabook Laptop with 90 watt Rocketfish charger Folding pocket knife/pliers with pouch Some pencils and pens My checkbook (I lost my wallet a few weeks ago so I started using that as a replacement My car/apartment/mailbox keys A couple USB drives Cash Timex watch On a side note, I used to carry a 32 GB iPod Touch with me. But I found an Android music player with an equalizer I could set myself. So I sold the iPod and spent the money on a 64 GB SD card for the phone (which has another 16 GB onboard). So I now have one less thing to carry! But again, I'm only carrying all this when I have my backpack. Despite my laptop being extremely small and light, it's still pretty hard to get it in my pocket! lol On a side note, if you click the picture, it's gonna be really big. I forgot to resize it from 8 megapixels lol Edited November 3, 2013 by ThatOneBrony 1 I refuse to let go until you're impressed. I refuse to let go until I'm depressed.
