I like most Mario games, but here's my top 5:

 

5. Super Mario World- The best 2D Mario of them all, has yet to be surpassed in that regard imo.

4. Super Mario 64- my first Mario game, I enjoyed it quite a bit but I prefer a more linear 3D Mario personally.

3. Super Mario Galaxy- blew my mind when I first played it, didn't think it could get better until...

2. Super Mario Galaxy 2- like Mario Galaxy but with way better levels, plus Yoshi! But my favorite has to be...

1. Super Mario 3D Land- even though I just started it, to me it has to be the pinnacle of 3D Mario, it's just pure playing and gaming bliss.

I've played quite a few Mario Games, but none of which match the pure bliss I had playing the Nintendo DS remake for Super Mario 64.

 

I loved the original Super Mario 64. Finally, a Mario game which isn't a platformer (not that I like platformers, it's just every Mario Game was up until Mario 64) and a Mario Game where you could punch instead of jumping on enemies. Not only was the gameplay awesome, I loved the introduction of new environments to the game, such as the underwater city. And not only that, every level had secrets in them which weren't always obvious.

 

Now, fast forward to Mario 64 for DS. It included everything from the original game, took nothing out, while adding new things which, unlike many things today, did not ruin the game. My favorite addition was that you had a choice of characters, and the minigames.

I think that Super Mario 64 is the best game. Super Mario 64 brings back memories from my childhood every time I play it: How I spent hours trying to get 120 stars, and then failing miserably trying to find the 120th star.

 

I like the other ones as well, but Super Mario 64 will always be the best Mario game in my opinion.

So difficult to decide, so I have to go with the original. It was, and still is, a BOMB. Greatest game of all time.

Super Mario 64 DS is my absolute favourite Mario game. It takes the already outstanding Nintendo 64 version and improves on it dramatically. Better graphics, better controls, MOAR STARS and you even get to play as either Yoshi, Luigi or Wario! Overall, a fantastic game .

Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 are my favorites! They're really beautiful and fun.

Whatever happened to Mario All-Star, where it had all of them. B/c as far as i can tell, They were all good, but not as good as Super Mario 3.

Any of the Mario RPGs are my favorites. I find them more addicting then the platform games.
