Your Favorite MLP Episode: Round Two Series

Four words. Pinkie-Twilight gatling gun.

Canterlot Wedding Part 2 was just an all-round epic finale. Not saying Lesson Zero wasn't a great episode, but Canterlot Wedding Part 2 dices and squashes this match.

A Friend in Deed really only had the Smile song going for it, which isn't my favorite song anyways (it's not Find a Pet, therefore it is inferior).  Return of Harmony part 2 wins by a landslide for its great story, characterizations, and hilarious Discord shenanigans.

It's an enormous shame to have to dismiss one or the other. What makes this hard is that they are very different episodes. One is a good old weekly episode with a lesson to be learnt and some great character development, the other one is an "epic" if you will.

The Return of Harmony Part 2 was a brilliant episode, as is every episode where all the Mane 6 come together to best an evil opponent once and for all - it's the very essence of the show itself. We get to see a bit of every character, so it appeals to fans of each Mane 6 pony. This villain in particular appeals to bronies, because Discord is quite literally the biggest troll, something we all know and... well, maybe not love, but certainly relate to.~

People say that A Friend In Deed only had the song doing it justice. Which is absolutely not true! First of all, it's a Pinkie episode, and she is charming as always in every bit of it! Second, the character development in that episode has gone very unnoticed - Pinkie went from a full-fire outgoing personality to realising that sometimes people would be best left in peace for a while. Everything worked for me in that episode.

On the whole, though, the series wouldn't have come together without the Return of Harmony Part 2 episode. It's such a shame to have to vote for it over A Friend in Deed, because for me it's really difficult to pair these two different types of episodes in competition.

I honestly didn't like A Friend In Deed at first.  I found it so cringe inducing that I had to stop watching and finish it at a later time.

But after forcing myself to see the whole thing, it was actually a decent episode.  :D

With that said, I still have to vote for Return to Harmony Part 2.  It's almost unfair that ordinary slice of life episodes have to be pitted against major story arc ones.

This is an easy one I guess. The Smile song... at first I thought it was incredibly cheesy but then... holy shit when every character joins in with the singing... it's incredible!

But as people said, this is pretty much the only highlight of the episode. Doesn't mean that the episode is bad - far from it! It just means it doesn't come close to The Return of Harmony (Part 2). Seriously, that part when Twilight gets absolutely torn apart was almost heart breaking.

No, Return of Harmony (Part 2) for sure. There's no doubt about that.

I loved all of A Friend In Deed, not just the song. It was a fantastic Pinkie Pie episode. If it were against The Return Of Harmony Part 1, I'd vote for it instantly.

But The Return Of Harmony Part 2 is bar none my favorite Twilight episode. It's completely soul crushing seeing the hopeful and optimistic Twilight at the start turn into the depressed and apathetic Twilight near the end. It doesn't have the tedious buildup of Part 1, and the un-discording scenes were among my favorite moments in the entire run of the show. It gets my vote.

Tis' a shame that A Friend In Deed is losing by so much though.

Today's Matchup: Too Many Pinkie Pies VS Applebuck Season

Well, it's a definite. Too Many Pinkie Pies smashes, dices and flattens Applebuck Season one-handed and blindfolded, and I'd add the word easily after it but it's not strong enough for me to express how much I absolutely love Too Many Pinkie Pies.

It was charming. It was zany. It was absolutely pinkifyingly ridiculous, and I loved every perfect pink playful second of it. It never ceases to amaze me how one can amplify Pinkie's outrageously happy and silly character by the ten (literally!) and still throw her into unfamiliar territory for her to develop - where she has to literally learn to control herself and to be careful what you wish for. And even if you put the brilliantly spirited clones aside, you get a wonderful desire from Pinkie to be able to please all her friends, and to not have them feel that she prefers hanging out with one of them over the other - it's truly admirable. I don't even care that other TV shows got to the idea of clones before My Little Pony, because once you see the mass of ecstatic Pinkie Pies openly embracing a cliché and twirling it into their show, nothing else matters other than making sure your massive uncontrollable grin doesn't snap your face muscles. Al fin y al cabo, It's perfectly written and perfectly structured, tributes the essence of the series superbly, and will stand as one of my favourite episodes ever.

Betcha can't make an episode crazier than... THIS!

Both of these episode's showed the inner character of the respective characters they were focused on but i have to place my vote with "too many Pinkie Pie's"

"Applebuck Season"- showed us how Applejack is determined to get the job done no matter the cost. Throughout the episode she refused to get her friends involved due to not wanting to burden them and also to prove herself of being capable of handling work on her own. Throughout the episode AJ caused multiple amounts of chaos in ponyville due to her stubbornness by the end AJ realized that everypony needs help sometimes and it's not a bad thing to ask for help from your friends.

After this episode we have had multiple times where we have seen AJ personality even in episodes not focused on her.

"Too Many Pinkie Pie's"- Showed us how much Pinkie Pie truly cares for her friends and how much she want's to be with them and please them. Throughout the episode Pinkie Pie continued making clones so she could be with all her friends even though she didn't know just how Pinkie Pieish the clones would really be and caused chao's in Ponyville. She eventually discovered that nopony can be everywhere at once and that people have to make choices. Pinkie Pie gave us a rare glimpse of her true self during this episode something we really didn't get to see in besides "Party of One"

Sorry about the long post.

Wonderbolt Academy for me, by far my favorite episode of all seasons thus far. We got some excellent characterization of Dashie and showed her potential for leadership; plus the adorable pinkie sections didn't hurt :) All in all, 10/10 would watch for the thousandth time

I love that one :). This is actually a tournament for episodes though. Right now we have to choose between Applebuck Season and Too Many Pinkie Pies. You can vote by clicking on the second link. Wonderbolt Academy will be up again in a week or so, so mark your calender or whatever you do.

Applebuck season got my vote. I thought it was way funnier and on a whole, a lot more interesting. But it looks like Too many Pinkie Pies is going to win this easily.

I 'd go with Applebuck.  I still have some issues with the ending of Too Many Pinkie Pies, really because I think that there's too much room for error in that test (Abandoning all of your friends is pretty strong motication, but so is fear of geting sent back to the reflection pond).

Applebuck, OTOH, did a wonderful job of really establishing character for AJ.   Plus it gave us the immortal recipe for Baked Bads.

Though I feel like the problems in Too Many Pinkie Pies could have been solved with a much more foolproof test (Pinkies knows the names and birthdays of every pony in Ponyville, while the clones struggle with the names of the Mane 6.  Wouldn't a knowledge test make more sense (even though the paint-drying gag was hilarious)?) I found it to be more enjoyable than Applebuck Season.  Applebuck, to me, was sort of on the border between forgettable and kind of memorable.

Applebuck Season did introduce character traits that I found interesting in Applejack... that were done oh so much more interestingly in The Last Roundup and Apple Family Reunion

Too Many Pinkie Pies continued the tradition of me liking every Pinkie Pie episode (I maintain that Feeling Pinkie Keen was a TWILIGHT SPARKLE episode) and I really loved the moments with real!Pinkie being depressed. Just like Lightning Dust, the Pinkie Pie clones demonstrated that the Pinkie her detractors say she is does not look like the Pinkie in the show.

Eh, "Applebuck Season" wasn't ultra appealing for me to be honest. It was a good episode don't get me wrong, and it had some great moments, but really it can't match up in my opinion to "To Many Pinkie Pies" That episode has so much awesome humor and randomness.

Sorry "Applebuck Season" but i'm gonna have to choose "To Many Pinkie Pies".
