Possible future DiscordxCelestia?

I am one of those who believes there may well have been 'something' between Celestia and Discord in the past. It just seems to work so well in my head, as well as others'.

 

What with Discord being freed, and hopefully staying freed, do you think the writers may drop some call backs to a time when they have had a relationship, or now even drop hints that they may still have at least a begrudging admiration for one another. I mean done well and most gingerly, it could, if just for comedic effect.

 

Extra points if the supposedly upcoming history episode has a scene referencing this comedic classic regarding the two:

 

 

 

I dunno, maybe I'm just talking complete rubbish like 99% of the rest of the time, but if the writers did it right, a past flame between them is entirely feasible. And I'm not exactly rooting for them to get back together, just that it could an extra layer both to their past and current situations.

I do not like shipping majority of the time. I only like 2 shippings (Trixie x Trixie, as well as Lyra x Bon Bon) That being said, I do not like this shipping. And I do not wish for it to be canon.

 

Not to mention, Hasbro threw a fit that the writers wanted Luna in season 1. They thought the villian would still scare little girls. While they have more freedom now, I don't think this would actually happen.

I personally see 'shipping' as a tainted word now. I never said pair them and may they live happily ever after, but perhaps create a tension that there was or may have been something between them.

On the show?? Never happen. If it did happen I wouldn't like it. CelestiaxDiscord was made up by the bronies. The reality is more like Celestia vs. Discord. They know each other as old enemies, that's it. The closest they're getting to a relationship is an agreement to not fight for control of Equestria anymore, and even that may not be in the cards.

The one and only way I see a Dislestia theme happening in the show, is a 'dead and buried' one. Aka, Discord had a crush on Celestia over a thousand years ago, but Celestia turned him down due to what he was and what he did. I can't see an active relationship happening, ever. They're complete opposites in everything from personality to sides of the good and evil spectrum.

Look, I know that this shipping has a good fandom, however I just don't like it, to be honest. It's chances of happening in the show are near-impossible, just like every shipping involving a main character. They've also been bitter enemies for at least a millenia well, at least from Celestia's point of view. I cannot see this ship happening, not in general, and not in canon. Perhaps I should read some fanfiction to sway my mind...?

I like the idea (it would definitely be some good character building) but honestly, I don't think it would ever happen in the show itself. It would go completely over the heads of the younger audience. I kinda like the idea, but I don't think Dislestia will ever get out of the fandom.

I think that there could have been something between them in the past, probably one sided, but I sort of doubt that they will touch on a topic like that.

Interestingly enough, Discord due to his likely immortality would be pretty much the only person Celestia could pursue a relationship with without having to worry about things like a massive age difference and Celestia outliving her partner by a ridiculous margin. Luna is off limits for obvious reasons, and Cadence is spoken for, and likely isn't immortal at all.

Of course I think they are too fundamentally different and there is too much baggage between them for something to start in the future.

Am I the only person who's headcannon is that they're relatives? Come on, it makes sense, considering Discord is the freaking god of chaos. He is part pony, so it could work. It's like Greek Mythology. All of the gods are technically related. 

 

They could have been close relatives back then, and personally, I think that would be even more heartbreaking than if they dated. 

 

Even so, if there used to be some romance between the two of them, I wouldn't be mad. They did actually sound like a broken-up couple flirting with each other in the scene in RoH part 1 where they were talking, but that just might be a one-sided thing on Discord's part. Maybe Discord did used to love her, but she didn't return his affection? I actually like that idea. Either way, I truly don't care what direction the show takes with this. If they did have a "thing", I wouldn't care, because I actually think that's a good idea.

 

Also, it wouldn't be fanservice. No offence, but it's kind of obvious from Return of Harmony that Celestia and Discord have a...complex relationship. What if it was always intended from the start to be something romantic?
