I know how to put

Asylum only wins if it get's withing range. Plus so far the only gadget it has is the hooks which you could easily cut off. And there IS a way to put out the fire. You've just got to figure it out...

 

I know how to put out Greek fire. Heh heh, it's fun being a craftspony. Whoever's ship I'm on will love me forever and ever and ever :)

You take 1st mate, I'm most likely going to switch ships. Any takers on someone that can repair damage from Greek Fire? Sorry Bulwark, but you're not very cool -_-

Heavier Armor seemed like a good idea since nobody else really had good armor, but now i see that its kinda underpowered and 'not very cool'. I don't want to have a boring ship, boring things are what make a boring roleplay.

I would stay on the Bulwark... here's some tips...

 

-Lose most of the armor. Don't need it.

-Storage space? Are we a freaking pirate ship or a merchant ship?!

-Get mad weapons(i.e. grappling hook, cannons EVERYWHERE, barbed launchie-thingies, a molotov cocktail-like-thing, but out of a cannon)

-Make the ship smaller. We can sail circles around you while blasting your tails off!

 

And that, is how you do a pirate ship my friend.

As much as I'd love your talents, I've already got a crew bigger than anyone elses (OC wise). Plus, Krystal is innovative enough to figure something out.

 

Honestly, i don't see how i could change the Bulwark without changing with perk completely. It has cargo space, armor, but only one row of cannons, and if i get more, i don't get cargo space, and then i only get armor, and that's still not very much. According to Krystal, its thin, but then according to Krystal, its armor strong enough to slow down cannon balls... ?
 

The cargo space can carry supplies, booty, soldiers, kegs of gunpowder...

The armor has to be rigid enough to hold its shape after being shot yet still be able to hold it's own against a cannonball. So after rethinking it for a while, I've decided that it would actually be more brittle but reasonable thick (maybe an inch or two). So if your outside of a ship's effective range, a ball will just bounce off but if you're inside their effective range, it will penetrate and you'll be left with a hole in your hull. The ball will be slowed down enough to not damage anything and probably not kill anypony. It could still break their bones for sure.

I believe you just described the Asylum.

 

All of our ships can get innovative with what we fire out of our cannons. The Asylum is basically the only one with Greek fire and can shoot hooks out of cannons (unless they come up with something else). We all have hooks but we have to throw them by hoof or have a pegasus fly over and attach it manually. And nopony can put a patent on molotov cocktails. We all have access to those.

 

Anyway, @, I was just trying to help defend your ship and explain the upsides of it. If you want to change your perk that's fine but it has to be something original like the others.

 

How about this: your free row can still have some cannons on it, you can just saw some holes and put them in position. But you can only have a half row extra.

Right now all I have in mind are the hooks, Greek fire, Cannon balls that can be lit On fire, and grappling hooks we can shoot out of the cannon's...Thats all I got in mind.

Normal cannonballs can be lit on fire anyway, if you prepare them properly. I actually spent a worrying amount of time thinking about it last Spring when I went through a phase of being obsessed with "guns and sails" era naval combat. Actually it's a shame I'm not on your ship because I'd have plenty of ideas for you.

I don't even really want to be first mate if we have enough people to start regardless. Besides I've already been included in the PM chat for the Sea Peregrine so it would be better for you to do it.

Honestly, it should ultimately be the captains decision if someone gets second in command or not. Not that i don't mind him being mine.

When I originally signed up it was my intention to let whichever captain wanted me add me to their crew, it just didn't end up happening that way. I still feel that way, so I'll gladly join whatever ship wants me, as long as someone can definitively tell me whose ship I'm on and we can get this started.

I still feel that way, so I'll gladly join whatever ship wants me, as long as someone can definitively tell me whose ship I'm on and we can get this started.

It starting or not really depends on whether or not @, is going to be First Mate on the Bulwark or not and whether or not@, is happy with the Bulwark.

It has nothing to do with not liking/wanting to be on the Bulwark. Rambler, as a character, isn't much of a leader, or a second in command for that matter.

 

...and I know you can take me off the PM list. My point was that I had already taken part in the discussion, and it would be awkward if I was replaced with someone else.

How abouuuuut...

Sharp Flat disks that can be fired from a balista kinda thing. If hit correctly it could chop down a ships mast...

I like this. But there's only one mounted on your ship and it's time consuming and exhausting to reload it. Also it only has about as much range as your cannons (which are small to begin with, remember) and it can't chop off the mast.

No, no they couldn't. I don't see how you'd get enough force behind it to cut through a mast. Even if you could, I don't see how that's any more exceptable than the stake thing. Although I don't have a problem with the stakes.

I kinda agree...I thought the stakes were awesome...A whole bunch of pointy sharp poles flying from the sky

How about fast, but with a moderate amount of storage space and large caliber-small sized weapons everywhere, so we can be more of Give-us-your-money-for-these-overpriced-goods pirates? And we only attack if attacked. And of course, If we're attacked I can repair the damage anyway.

I believe you just described the Black Abyss... It seems like all of the good perks have already been taken.

With miniature cannons you still won't weigh that much so you'll be faster than the Abyss. Then you'll deliver a huge volley at close range. It seems like the Abyss is now the underpowered one. How about you have two rows of below deck miniature cannons and one row of on deck regular cannons? You are now slightly faster than the Abyss and have the same armor as the Peregrine an the Asylum.
