Evergreen panted as she replanted the final Yateveo Tree, which was humming contentedly, gnawing on something she'd rather not attempt to identify, in the far back corner of the garden, which she then roped off. She wandered the winding garden paths, not really paying attention to where she was going. She ended up passing by the extensive vineyard, and the Prancing Oval, where Descant's DJ stand was set up, and, avoiding the hedge maze delibrately, she dove into the Amblezon Pool, where the friendly Flying Fish nibbled and picked at her, devouring all the mud she had managed to get herself covered in. When she climbed back out of the pool, her coat sparkled a pale gold, and her mane had fallen out of its olive clumps into a long, shiny, elegant forest mane with lime streaks. She smiled as she looked at her reflection. At least she would look good when the guests arrived.

 

She reflected briefly, on how those mischievous twins next door had forged invitations to a party at her house, in EXACTLY her writing style, and sent them to, for the most part, complete strangers. She could have strangled them, but she couldn't help admiring their efforts to get her to socialise. And they had been smart about it, too. They picked a type of paper that Eve had trained the Front Hedge to recognise and to swing open like a gate. 

 

Well, they'd be arriving any moment. She'd better be ready for when they did.

A nervous Star Rain in a purple dress walked up to the entrance to the garden party with a silver headband that didn't keep her bangs back. The garden was quite beautiful, she'll give it that. She was worried about being around a bunch of total strangers, but that fear disappeared when she noticed she was seemingly the only pony there. She decided to just explore the garden and find out about the magic here. She didn't notice the hostess or anypony else.

Shell had to read over the invitation multiple times to decide if it was for real, or just a joke. Most ponies picked on him for being a difference race, and a complete stranger. He would think a world full of colorful ponies would be a lot better than this.

 

He decided if it was fake, he could just leave as fast as he arrived. He hesitated to walk into the gardens, hoping he wouldn't get shunned by the other guests, or worse, have pranks played on him. Ever since being outcast to Equestria, his self esteem has been taking heavy hits to the everywhere. Its not like he didn't like the ponies, he thought they were kinda cute. The problem was that he was different, and so it turns out, ponies don't accept 'different'.

 

He walked into the garden, preparing for any insults (or garbage) thrown in his direction. Technically, physical attacks were useless against him, since the attacker would feel the same pain he felt. A little perk only Shell had. Every Chytinos has their own little special ability.

Rain slowly approached the gate leading into Evergreen's garden. He took a deep breath and reached over to push the gate open, But before his hoof could touch it, It magically opened by itself. He took another deep breath and walked in. *I hope this isn't a mistake.* He thought, Looking around the garden.

Goldseek stood at the gateway to the garden. It was beautiful. All kinds of flowers and plants he had never seen before. It wasn't often Goldseek got to relax and make friends. Hedges and pools, everything. He walked in. The place had a beautiful scent, it was magnificent. Other ponies were looking around the garden. He wondered if it had been a mistake, and that the letter was supposed to go to someone else.  He couldn't believe that anypony could create something so beautiful. 'There has to be some kind of catch.' He thought to himself.

"Com'on dude..." Firecracker said as he was watching over Leaf trying to get him to the party. "Would you cut that out? Why are you even making me go to this thing?" Leaf asked annoyingly. "Because the thing that you need in the world is a mare... Just like... my Moonbeam..." Firecracker answered while lost at the thought of her. Leaf Orange facehoofed. He knew that this wasn't going so well. "Look, I'm still young, I will get a mare eventually... You're my best friend... can't you have me take my time..." he complained. "Okay, whoops, I think we just arrived!" Firecracker said while ignoring Leaf's comment. He then used his magic to lift Leaf up in case he tried to fly away, placed a legit invitation on his hoof, and threw him to the garden. "Okay, see ya!" Firecracker called out. "Well, I better try to make the best of it..." Leaf thought to himself.

Earth Opal tucked the invitation safely into his vest pocket, and he cantered down the sidewalk, admiring the beautiful nature around him. It was all lush, but he could tell that, by the handwriting by the hostess, she was a nature lover. Many nature lovers wrote in a similar fashion, and when he arrived, his stress from not being able to learn more flushed away. The magical aura did not fail to reach him, and he felt great standing in front of the gate.

 

A vine reached out from the hedge by the gate and dug into his vest pocket, taking the invitation out and sucking it into the hedge, probably identifying it, even if he had no clue how that had even worked. The gate swung open, and he was in.

 

Inside, the garden was breathtaking. Giant plants with great banana leaves swung from the left, swaying rhythmically and soothingly. The aura would have been enough to rival royalty, as mother nature is always a powerful being, as they evolved from it. Now to make himself known to the hostess...

Dusk stood back a fair way, examining the hedge as it opened to allow the other ponies to walk through, and then closed behind them. He wondered to himself "It must be great to be able to conjure something like that." 

As he was about to reveal himself from the shadows of a nearby patch of wildlife, he saw another pony...no...something different this time - he wasn't sure what he was seeing, but it definitely was unlike anything he had seen before...so much taller than the others...

 

After a few more minutes of quietly contemplating wether to approach the magical hedge or not, he finally decided it was time to at least try. He cautiously revealed himself from the shadows - seeing almost to morph out of the scenery itself, and approached the hedge. When he closed in, it suddenly swung wide open, taking Dusk by surprise. He gasped a little, before swallowing to steady his shaking hooves...and then quickly bound inside, turning to see the hedge close up behind him. 

 

"Well...there's no going back now..." He mumbled to himself.

Evergreen had returned to her... modest home that was little more than a shack, when she heard whispers that visitors had arrived. She finished brushing her mane, and trotted out of her shack to see a wide variety of ponies already there, as if they'd just spawned out of the earth. Well, no.... They weren't all ponies... There was a buck with majestic antlers among them, and some giant scaly thing... She bit her lip. What had Ragtag been thinking? She wobbled on the doormat, considering just going back inside.

Star Rain quickly hid behind a flowering tree when she noticed some ponies starting to arrive. She was very nervous about revealing herself, as it seemed like she was the only one with a dress on. She preferred to keep to herself for the most part. She simply hid behind the tree, pondering on her next action.

Rain stared around, Debating to just leave until he saw a pretty mare walk out of the small house next to the garden. He stood there for a second, Wondering if he should go over and say something. *Oh buck it* He thought, walking up to the mare and smiling. "I..." *Ugh, Now what do I say ?* "Umm...Are you Evergreen ? I-I got your invitation." He said. *Well duh...Why would you be here if you didn't get the invitation.* He thought.

A pony who had just emerged from a shack nearby seemed to purse her lips, examining the guest, almost regretting that they were here. Must be the hostess, just wonder why she would think again on inviting guests she had invited. He moved toward her and stuck out a hoof. "Earth Opal, very pleased to meet you. This is a very fine garden you have here, peaceful and magical, bordering abnormal beauty."

WindyScamper walked in, slightly scared. She didn't want to hurt anypony, never agin....but she knew she was a klutz, it was easy to hurt aomepony. She sighed as she pushed her headband back and walked in to the gate. She saw a few ponies there already. 'No pony will be hurt....' She kept repeating in her head. She then shuffledher way iver to everypny else, shuffling her hoives and staring down at the ground. "Err....hi, everypony."

Star Rain peeked from behind the flowering tree and noticed two stallions surrounding an attractive mare. They both had invitations identical to her own. I... I guess I go over there now? she thought for a moment. She then walked silently over to them, invitation levitated by her cyan magic. "Um, excuse me. Are you the hostess?" she asked apprehensively.

Dusk sighed to himself once more over the thought of being confined into this place...but then he took in the fact that he felt strangely at ease. Not exactly to the point of confidence or not wanting to hide...but still, at ease. 

 

"Hm! That's odd..." He suddenly exclaimed aloud. Then immediately realised what he had done. 

He began to back towards the hedge when suddenly he stopped, and his head lowered to the floor - "What are you doing? You came here did you not? It's obvious you want to be here, stop being a coward!" - he seemed to growl at himself, before shaking his head violently and perking up. 

"You're right...I can't back out now, i'm here aren't I? ... I sure hope nopony saw that..." mumbling to himself once again, before tilting his head to look at the rather impressive sight before him. Then almost with an aura of false confidence, he trotted along the edge of the hedge, looking up and down at the spectacle, before taking in the impressive flora that surrounded them. It was at this point he noticed there where already ponies starting to congregate...or at least, ponies and a giant.

Evergreen seemed to retreat, ever so slightly, when not one, but two unfamiliar faces approached her. "Um... Yes. I'm Evergreen," she said to the buck with the handsome antlers, and the tiny pink mare. Her voice was a tiny, quiet thing. She blushed slightly when the pony spoke kindly of her garden. "It's nothing special," she peeped. "And... Those letters were forged. They weren't mine. But..." She shuffled her hooves. "You're all free to stay, I mean, the neighbours saw to everything for me, so..." She wasn't overly pleased, obviously, but... No. She wouldn't make them leave.

Looking around, Goldseek found everyone surrounding a mare, presumably the hostess. He thought about introducing himself, then realized she looked rather overwhelmed, so he decided to continue looking around. He then sat at a bench in the garden, and just looked in awe at the wonderful place.

"Oh...Sorry for interrupting." Rain blushed, Glancing at Earth Opal. "They were ?...I should...Maybe I...Oops." He took a few steps back.

"Umm...Well...I uh...It's nice to meet you Evergreen. I-I like your garden." He said, Taking a few more steps backwards. *Ok, I gotta think of something to say...I think I will just let these two talk.*

Scamps wanted to say hi to the hostess, but she seemed rather busy. 'I can't just stand here....what's the point of going to a party if I do nothing?'

 

She then saw a somewhat handsome colt sit down on a bench. "Might as well talk to somepony," Scamps mumbled to herself. She then strode over to the stallion and stod next to the bench. "Um...er...Hi. I'm Windy Scamped. You can call me Scamps, for short. So, um, what brings you to the party?" She asked awkwardly.

Leaf Orange took a good look around the garden with out leaving his spot. He saw many things like the trees and flowers. he thought. He then saw a mare coming out of some sort of shack. She introduced herself as the hostess and her name was Evergreen. "Wow, you must'a took a long time to build this. Uh... Evergreen. I'm Leaf Orange..." he said to the seemingly gold mare.

Lila trotted through the town she had only visited once before but as a filly, about 4 or 5. She didnt know it very well so it took her a while to find the location but once she did she let a small smile escape. Having to run a kingdom could be very stressful at times plus having every pony look at her. It mad her very uncomfortable because she was from beyond the everfree forest. Approaching the entrance she reviled the invention then proceeded into the garden. She saw a few ponies around but wanted to look around before she talked to any of them.

Dusk stopped for a second to decide on what he was going to do next. 

"Do I go over there an introduce myself? But...she looks busy, and somewhere close to as nervous as I feel" He hooved the dirt as he pondered - "Or do I try and start a conversation with some of the other guests? But who?" He thought to himself as he glanced across from guest to guest. 

 

He decided he would head over to introduce himself, eventually. And upon deciding this, he slowly walked in the general direction of who he assumed to be the hostess - still admiring the scenery and not particularly paying attention to where he was going.

"Oh, ok. Thanks..."Star Rain said before walking back to the garden paths without a sound. She decided to just stick to the garden paths instead. She was fascinated by all of the exotic vegetation and wanted to check them out.

She heard shouting coming from the entrance to the garden. Curious and ignoring her fear of strangers, Star Rain trotted over to the source of the noise. "Excuse, um, are you ok?" she asked hesitantly. He looks pretty nice, I guess, she thought. Her father wanted her to interact with somepony, so she figured she would take this chance.

Evergreen dipped her head politely at the deer, who seemed to be just as overwhelmed as she. Maybe they would be friends. Celestia knows she would need them.

 

Quietly as ever, she said, "It's just my life's work, and it's all wonderful, but it's nothing to be exclaimed over..." Both the stallions that stood in front of her, Leaf and Earth... Well, they both caught her eye... No. She couldn't possibly. She'd ignore it. She didn't know either of them. They could be maniacs, for all she knew
