Who are the most powerful ponies in Equestria?

Trixie can make fireworks with her magic, which either means she is setting off an array of elements she has conjured using gunpowder, in an explosion that won't kill her, or she is manipulating the light, dividing it, using her magic to make patterns in the sky. She managed to make the Ursa Major scene using that ability, which means she has the ability to change that often.

 

Plus, Trixie can conjure living flowers, make a reflection coming off of water from the sun (The rainbow Dash had on her after performing that stunt in Boast Busters) become tangible, and.... Well. Need I say more?

Obviously Princess Celestia. Yes, Luna and Cadence would be up there as well, but Celestia is always guiding the mane 6 and mentoring Twilight's destiny as a whole, so her most definitely.

This may sound weird but Pinkie might be one of the most powerful ponies in Equestria. She's hiding behind the cover of a party girl but let's face it: She can dart off at incredible speed. She can hop for hours without end. We have seen her defy the laws of gravity and common sense. And that Pinkie sense of hers allow her to know her environment better than anypony.

Put her in a fight against anypony else and she will find a way to win. There is positively not a thing that will keep her down. Consider yourself lucky that she is a pacifist or she could have claimed Equestria for herself a long time ago.

 

Oh, and I forgot she has an evil alter ego that can control the minds of inanimate objects. That's a pretty scary power too.

Babs Seed if she gets prep time. Being able to enter movies and bring back objects with her (especially if the object is an Amulet of Omnipotence or another powerful plot device) is no laughing matter.

 

In straight up power I would say Nightmare Moon. It took the EoH for Celestia to beat her and NM was able to harness the energy of multiple stars to break free of her prison.

I would say Pinkie Pie right off the bat because she is quite literally beyond the boundaries of their world, breaking physics like something supernatural - but I think the most solidly powerful pony in Equestria is (or was) King Sombra. Capturing an entire empire for a thousand damn years is too impressive. Plus it wasn't just up to the Mane 6 to take him down - you also needed the captain of the Royal Guard and his wife to take down King Sombra. That guy was the hardest to defeat of any of the villains.

Twilight Sparkle. I think, that she would destroy the whole Equestria, if she want it. She can create magical bullets more powerful than Celestia. She have magic of friendship too. So she could make a coup d'etat and kill everybody, who oppose to her. But she is good pony, so she won't do this.

No one saw it coming. Could you blame them? Who would suspect she,of all ponies, would be the one to bring Equestria to a bloody ruin. Time and time again, they made fun of her, until she broke, fleeing into the Everfree Forest to disappear forever.
Or so we thought.
Approximately a month later, and Ponyville was sunny.
It was the last time it would ever be that way.
An earth shattering roar broke the calm morning. Dragons, so many dragons. They covered the sky to the horizion, and the world went black. From the forest came the Ursas, Cockatrices, and Diamond dogs in a murderous stampede. We turned to flee...but the earth was torn apart as Tatzelwurm's sprung up in the center of the town like hellish weeds, dripping with venom. We were trapped. None of them made a move, though, and we were confused.
At least until she appeared, dropping down from the sky off of top of her dragon with such grace, she didn't even kick up dust. She looked the same as when she left, but her eyes were hard. There was not a trace of kindness left in them. She trotted softly over to me, looked me in the eyes, and said, with barely a whisper "not this one". Then the slaughter began.
Equestria was overthrown in a matter of weeks. If there was one saving grace, it was she didn't harm children, but everyone else was destroyed brutally. She worked her way to Canterlot, crushing anyone in her path. Laughter was the first to go, silenced by the sting of the manticore. Honesty could have stopped her, but she couldn't bring herself to accept that her friend would do all this, and fell to the cragadiles while still in disbelief. Loyalty, even though she'd been betrayed, nonetheless went down fighting, killing monster after monster and buying before the dragons descended...
Finally, she reached her destination; Castle Canterlot. The guards were defeated in hours, and finally, the monarchs joined the fight. Though the princesses fought bravely, they simply couldn't overcome her power, and eventually, even the sun and the moon fell from the sky. Love was dead. Friendship was shattered.
But i'll never forget that she left me alive. Was that her last bit of kindness? Did she remember the time we spent together? It doesn't matter, there are only three things that matter now.
1) I am the last pony. There's nothing equine left in her to speak of.
2) I am the last element bearer. She's not fit to wield the title.
3) I will stop her, no matter the cost. She'll destroy the world if she gets the chance.

Since Tirek was physically stronger, Discord could not get free. Also, Discord is the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony, not a god (Especially not the "Mad God", Discord is not Loki). Tirek, is the Lord of Evil.

 

And even though Discord's limit is unknown, he never ment to harm anyone, just prank everyone like a jerk, so his powers are not meant to damage no one.

I agree. Tirek seemed to strike Discord when he was most vulnerable by betraying him, that and Discord had betrayed his only friends.

A full blown fight between Discord and Tirek would be interesting to see.

Is he though? I see him as not giving a buck about retaliation due to the fact that he is immortal. I mean WOULD YOU take anything serious if you could make it rain chocolate milk and Have Bison doing Ballet? Hell the worse thing that happened to him was get turned to stone for a few hundred years which for him was like a fifteen minute time out for being naughty if you compare it with his lifespan. He isnt dumb, he just isnt emotionally invested yet.
