I think that it will last for a long time. Atleast for those who are "bronies for life" just look at other fandoms, there are some fans of shows which ended 10+ years ago but the fans are still active. And since FiM's fandom has grown so big and it's a really "deep" thing for the fans (if you know what I mean) so I don't think it will die out. There will always be fanmade stuff eaven after the show has ended, which I actually think will happen after season 3 :(

I'm guessing that the show will stop when the makers notice that they don't have ideas that aren't repeating the old seasons. Then again, another possibility is that they will make FiM repetitive and when we finally realize it's not entertaining, we retreat back to the forums, chats and other brony hideouts to complain about how the show has degraded in quality ^_^.

Also, I believe that if there will be a new generation, most of us "original" bronies won't watch them because "it's just a rip off of the original ponies" and "it's not as good as the G4". That's what happened to Pokemon.

The community is really strong tho, and most of us will stay after FiM ends...but only for a short while. My best bet is that when it ends, most bronies will gradually leave the community, leaving behind the hardcore bronies. We really can't be sure tho, only the future will tell :) .

EDIT:

All of us will definitely remember FiM, and how awesome it was.

I feel as though Bronies right now are more stable than a lot of fandoms were at this stage, But this is the point where I think there will be a lot more people "revealing" that they're brony because it's been advertised so much and it's going into it's third season with a huge and strong season finale of it's second season , and it's going to get to the point where bronies will be huge, even bigger than what we are right now. I'm excited for our future, it's bright and shiny future full of love and toleration. :3

You are speaking my language dude! :D

My mind always goes back to Star Trek. How long has THAT following lasted? And they didn't have the advantage of fan created content beyond building models! With the amount of fan-fiction that's put out, the music that's created, and the willingness to adapt BOTH into professional quality original animation we've gone places no other fandom has been before! As Dustykatt put it in his interview with Everfree Radio, we've been "hyper-accelerated" in our development. Oh and there's also the little note that we can create our own episodes.

. . . I think we're good. B)

Bronies will be around for a loong time. Way after the show ends.

My guess is that by then, the fan-animation will have gone so well and developed so much, that we might as well have our own series of ponies. I mean it's only the end of season 2, and I'm pretty sure most of us have seen how well the animations from the fans have been doing.

Verified! Take a look above, or at something like Epic Cupcake Time. We might as well have transcended fandom!

Well... someday the show will come to an end. :( As much I hate to admit that, it's true, but I think our community will stay strong! I mean, look at the fanbase right now! We're huge! We've got plenty of fans, fan music, TONS of amazing fan fics, etc. I think we'll last for a VERY long time.

What I think is interesting is that ponies are never going to be the same. I think that the fundamental aesthetic of MLP is different because of FiM. I don't think that any show would be able to go back to the way the old seasons were (for good reason in my humble opinion ;) ). I think bronies are going to continue after the show because I think there will be a new show, There may be new characters and a new equestria, but I feel like the fundamental aesthetic has permanently switched and gained longevity.

I've always imagined that after the show ends the bronies will remain headstrong and continue to produce fan content, maybe with some support from the guys at Hasbro at the developers of FiM. Maybe the show would even get a reboot, like Family Guy. It only lasted 'till Season 3 but Adult Swim viewers loved it and it was renewed for Season 4. Now look at it now :)

It will never end. Even if it got cancelled tomarrow, considering it is made in Flash, it would not be difficult for the community to create their own episodes.

Which EQD talked about awhile back.

After the last Star Wars movie, there wasn't another release until over 30 years later. And yet the fanbase did nothing but grow since then.

If the show ends, we'll just have to survive on reruns and fanon content until Ponies G5 comes out. Which it will.

As all things will, the show will end one day. I am hoping for a good 8 seasons. ;3 I will always have my pony stuff. I will always remember. I will always be a brony. And I will not be alone, because I know other people think the same thing. :(:D

I just was thinking, what's in store for us Bronies?

Will we be Bronies forever? Till the Show ends (I don't want to think about it **shiver**)? Will we grow out of it?

What if a brony gets married to a non pegasister (or vise versa)? How will that work?

Any thoughts on our future?

Should we worry at all (we saw what this did to Twilight)?

Well, as long as there are at least a few faithful members of the brony community left, I don't see us "becoming extinct" anytime soon. Even after the show is over, I'm sure there are always going to be those who keep it alive through videos on youtube, places like MLP forums, Equestria Daily, and FiM-Fiction. As long as we've got the internet, we're alive and well! Edited by Fire_Fly

I hope I don't grow out of it, like it's just a phase. At the risk of sounding like a sentimental oaf, being a Brony is the most fun I've ever had.

It'll stay strong after the show ends, but then it will eventually wear off as bronies get older and either take on responsibilities at school/home/family or a new show or craze captures their interest.

I don't think we have anything to worry about for now.

Take for example all the fan works, Fallout Equestria, the upcoming Balloon Party and all the art that we've made, do you think that it will simply fade away?

Yes we will eventually fade into obscurity, and our numbers will dwindle, but that's a long way ahead of us.

Also here's a couple older threads on similar topics:

This has been the most amazing community I've been a part of, so I don't think it will just vanish. I plan on being a Brony for as long as i can, even when the show ends. I say when because there is an end for every tv show, that's a known fact and the truth, but that doesn't mean we have to stop the love for this show :) this fandom will continue on!
