Drew glanced to the side. He hadn't even realized that they had had a spectator. A youngish boy with a Spearow had greeted them. Drew opened his mouth, and was halfway through saying, "Hello," when he found himself interrupted by a Gastly's tongue.

He couldn't help bursting into laughter. This Gastly was too amusing. It had knocked its glasses askew, and his hair had been messed up. He tidied himself up, still grinning. "Oh, it's alright, Luna. Don't worry about it. Your Gastly is delightful, by the way.

Shinx managed to avoid the first two rocks, but the third caught it right in the midriff knocked it clean off its feet, and it fell, unconscious.

"Your Growlithe's got spirit, Leon, I'll give it that," Jasmine called. "Bronzor, dodge it!" And with a bit of twirl, Bronzor cleanly dodged Growlithe's rash attack. Growlithe landed right on the superheated portion of flooring.

Fortunately all of the trainers on Route Thirty-Eight seemed to be engaged, and the way to Ecruteak City was clear.

The plan worked. Team Rocket grunts were not famed for their wit or cunning. Minun's attack was aimed just far enough to one side to cause Sneasel to deflect off course. Right into Plusle.

((You have control of Sneasel now. Feel free to choose how the battle ends.))

((Aladdin's on. It'll be a bit before I can post again.))

"Aww, that's sad..." I ran over to the little dude. He'd made a good run of it. I picked him up, stuck him in my pack (head out of course) and ran off to get to a Pokémon Center. Or maybe a doctor. I figured either would be helpful at this point, I'd left the medicine bag on the boat. I was always losing stuff and getting more stuff.

@@Flareon,

Stella smiled, seeing as all the other trainers were busy. Seeing Ecruteak City ahead, Stella remembered that the gym leader there battled with ghost types. Which dark types were strong against. "What do you say, Absol? Up for a battle?"

Absol did nothing in response, but his eyes filled with worry again.

Arriving in to town, Stella wandered around, enjoying the rustic looking building, for a bit, coming in to contact with rarely anybody.

@@Flareon,

Luna giggled then looked over at the boy who had just spoken to them. Her smile faded and she went back to her usual quiet almost gloomy self.

Abra, like Luna, went into his shy state and teleported behind Luna's leg, peaking out from behind them to look up at Xatio.

"Yeah I guess you could say that." Leon responded before noticing the part the the floor Growlithe landed on. ~Hmm the floor is still hot from Growlithe's last Ember. I wonder...~ Leon thought to himself, the gears in his head turning.

"Alright Growlithe use Ember again but this time aim for the floor." Growlithe looked confused by this command as were the remaining spectators. "Just trust me." Leon said to his Pokemon. Growlithe nodded his head and did as he was told hitting the ground near Bronzor with an Ember attack. "That's it now just keep doing that." Growthlie continued to fire off Ember attacks at the floor until the area that surrounded Bronzor was nothing but a big burning cherry-red spot.

"Quick use Flame Wheel, knock him on to the floor!!" Growlithe quickly charged at Bronzor and spun around him a few times with Flame Wheel before going in for on final blow.

~Come on Growlithe you can do it.~ Leon thought to himself hoping this would finish Bronzor.

So, then I was just walking along the path when I saw a great big lighthouse close by! I mean, I was still gonna take the Shinx to the center, but man, I had to see this lighthouse! I came close to it and there was a couple trainers having some fun. "Hey!"

It shuddered, and tried to get up, but moments later Growlithe, who had still been airborne, landed on top of it, pushing it back down onto the red-hot surface, where it shuddered, struggling to get up.

Moments later, before Jasmine could give it an order, it stopped trying to get up. It seemed the metal had cooled somewhat, but Bronzor could clearly take no more. "Bronzor is unable to battle!" Abra eyed the Spearow, unsure whether it was a friend or foe."Aaaabra ?" It said, quietly, hesitantly sticking out its claw.

"Speeaarrr." Spearow put out her claw, shaking Abra's own. It wasn't often she could meet new pokemon, as in Azalea town it was usually the same bugs (Which, she had been tempted to eat multiple times), with the rare event of a trainer coming through, though they usually went straight to the gym. So, for her, meeting a new pokemon was a great thing.

Abra slowly backed away behind Luna's leg, pulling down on her loose pants, trying to get her attention. Luna looked down only to see the Spearow...which she felt rather surprised about. "Hey there little one." She said, reaching down and patting it on the head.

Luna had always felt more comfortable around Pokemon than she did around other people so she was happy for something to do...that wasn't staring at a book.

"Spear-Spearow!~" Spearow enjoyed being petted, and was showing it.

Xatio watched Spearow and smiled, then turned his head, scanning his surroundings. He decided he would go look for some pokemon after this. That is, if Spearow wanted to leave. Though she seemed pretty happy as was. He went back to looking at his pokemon, making sure nothing bad would happen to her.

Luna chuckled at how much Spearow was enjoying this. She pulled two berries from her bag and gave one to Abra and the other to Spearow.

She looked up and noticed the boy who obviously owned the Spearow. She quickly looked away as if she hadn't noticed him.

Someone at the pokemon center mentioned how there were a nest of Heracross in some of the trees here and with his newly acquired Tauros it should be no trouble getting them down. "Ok you two ready?" to Tauros and Poliwag as they approved one of the trees which had a faint buzzing emanate from. "Tauros, I want you to ram into to that tree and shake it down, Poliwag be ready"  the three of them got into position and Paul gave the signal for Tauros to tackle the tree.

Route 37 was quite short, heavily wooded, consisting mostly of a few patches of grass and a Apricorn Orchard. Spinarak could be seen weaving their webs in a tree, while a Pidgeyotto nested in another. There were several Ledyba and Ledian flying about, and noises were coming from a clearing a short distance into the woods, although what exactly was moving was not visible through the trees. It was a move Paul would regret. As soon as Tauros headbutted the tree, the buzzing grew very loud and very angry as several Weedle and Kakuna fell from branches they had been on before. And before they knew it, they had a swarm of at least eight Beedrill flying directly at the ones who had disturbed their hive, with several more flying in different directions, stingers directed straight at each and every inhabitant of the route. All the Pokemon still on the route with any sense scattered; the Snubbull ran yipping into the woods, the Tauros into their barn, and the Farfetch'd flew off, terrified.

((Sorry for the wait, guys. I had a bad case of post-migraine lethargy. Still do, sorta.))

"I don't think so. Got that sucker pretty hard with a rock," I said happily. I was glad I'd gotten another Pokémon, since Jason was great, but he was still only one Pokémon. "So, what brings you to this lighthouse? And..." I paused, not sure if it was impolite in this region or not, then continued, "What kinds of Pokémon do you have?

Drew inclined his head. "I just thought I'd see the sights. Never been to Johto before. I want to go to Goldenrod City next. Isn't that just due east of here? And wouldn't it be more humane to actually use a Pokeball?"

Drew suddenly seemed very adamant about how that poor Shinx was being treated.

"Here." He thrust a Pokeball into John's hands, and withdrew a Pokeball of his own out of his belt. "I can have my Eevee revive Shinx for you, and this time, throw the Pokeball at it. Not a rock." He sounded quite suddenly irritated.

"You'll have to take that up with our boss, whelp," said the pink haired grunt, before he withdrew his Sneasel and tore after his partner. If there was one thing Team Rocket was good at, it was running away. They're already halfway back to their atmosphere-desecrating ship.

"AH!" was all Paul could respond with as a swarm of Beedrill came out of the trees and began to chase the boy.

The Heracross was in the wiggling tree, eating sap with some amount of gusto. But it'll have fled the Beedrill too, at this point.))

Poliwag's aim was true, and hit one of the Beedrill dead center. But there were still plenty flying after them. Tauros was faster than the Beedrill, but it seemed to be tiring. It clearly wasn't used to carrying anybody around like this.

Stella pushed back the branches to see what was in the clearing.

The lone Pokemon that stood in the clearing somewhat resembled a deer. It had a large brown nose and magnificent cream antlers, each with a dark orb in the center. It looked up from where it was grazing on the ferns in the clearing, and stood stock-still, gazing at Stella warily.

"Ohhh, that wasn't me! It was Jason here!" I introduced Jason, who looked frothing-at-the-mouth happy to be given an excuse to investigate Drew. "An Eevee, huh? Those'r interesting. But how can it revive other Pokémon?"

Then I had an idea. "Hey, you want to have a battle? Jason's been itching for it."

Luna's heart skipped a beat and she looked up smiling. "REALLY ?" She said, beaming over at Drew.Then...her eyes widened and she blushed then looked back down at her book as if she had never said anything.

She had been wanting to get away from this city to somewhere else...but her parents have sent her countless letters telling her to stay there until sometime in the future...that's 'No you're not leaving the safety of our friends house' in Parent talk.

"Yep! Really." Drew pipped, glancing at Luna with a smile before returning his attention to John.

Then I had an idea. "Hey, you want to have a battle? Jason's been itching for it."

"I couldn't tell," Drew said sardonically, wiping his shoes on the grass to rid them of Aron drool. "I would battle you, but my Aipom's not feeling his best at the moment, and Eevee doesn't like battling much. She's too young. And I can show you how she does it. Have your pokeball ready, alright?"

Drew drew an ordinary Pokeball out from the pocket of his jacket, and tossed it lazily. In a flash of pink light, an Eevee emerged from the Pokeball. She looked at Aron, eyes twinkling with curiosity. In fact, it seemed that she might have hatched merely days ago. "Alright, Eevee," Drew said kindly, "Could you Wish Pass that Shinx for me?" Eevee nodded happily, then began to glow. Stars appeared to fall from the sky, only to hover around Eevee, who then touched Shinx with the tip of its tail. Suddenly Shinx began to glow instead, and the stars were orbiting it. Moments later, the stars slowed to a halt and flew into Shinx submissively, and it blinked itself awake, surprise and confusion showing on its face. How did it get here?

@@Flareon,

"Just a Stantler..." Stella said; slightly disappointed  She didn't know what she should have been expecting, but a charger or sweeper wasn't the kind of pokemon she liked. Stella much preferred pokemon that dealt with confusing the enemy, and such.

Stella sighed, and turned back to the regular route, beginning to walk down it again.

((I believe Stantler isn't actually supposed to be used for a charger or sweeper, right? I just kinda have a prejudice against Stantler... tongue.png As well as a few other pokemon.))

Route Thirty-six. You come to a fork in the road. The left road will take you to Violet City, and the right will take you to the National Park and Goldenrod City. Looking down the right route, there are two trainers battling, one with a Tangela, the other with a Kadabra. There is a Vulpix playing in the grass with a Nidoran?. A small swarm of Ledyba fly above. A Pineco hangs from a tree, and an Eggsecute seems to have been knocked out of a different tree by a Hoothoot.
