Minions in MLP G4

Why isnt there minions in This Gen of MLP? Grogar had Bray and the troggles, and Tirek had Scorpan and the Ponies he turned into monsters. but in FIM NMN Discord and Sombra were one man rock band type of vilains who walked alone. Chrysalis had the Changelings however they barely did shit, they were weaker than Fulltershy for cryingout loud, and neither of them even had a name. Scorpan on the other hand had badass design like his master and had a backstory as heused ti be a prince, even Bray atleast talked.

overall will we ever see minions beside the boring nameless weak changelings? or atleast a right hand man

Well villains like Discord and Sombra have so much power that they pronely never thought that they would need any help taking over the world. As for the Changelings, they may be weak, but they do have numbers on their side. They were in the end still able to take down the 6 with no problem.

this isnt about power. Even a weakling like Bray had more personality than those changelings. And Scorpan had a more scary design than them. Even Zeb was more fun to see than them.

Ok I have no idea who any of these villains are. I know of them and what parts they played in the other MLP shows, but I don't know what their strengths and weakness are, because I never looked at older episodes.

 

Now I did look them up and these guys are in deed my terrifying then the changelings and most likely very powerful.

 

As for a minion or a right hand man, I guesses it just depends on how powerful they make the next villain. Maybe they well be like Discord or Sombra who are powerful that won't need minions or maybe do something like the Changelings.

 

It would be a good idea to try, but I don't think they well put a lot of backstory into a minion.

Minions tend to be annoying and take focus away from the villain and heroes. Maybe that's why the villains in this show seem so serious; they don't have a sidekick yukking it up every couple minutes and incompetently making a mess of things. I guess it's one of those things you don't really notice when it isn't there.

 

Geez. What would the opener have been like if Nightmare Moon just hung around the Everfree Castle the whole time and kept sending Midnight to set up traps for the Mane Six, only to smack her one each time because they didn't work? Over and over again.

Seriously though, I have no idea who those villains are and it probably doesn't matter anyway. None of the major baddies on the show have really needed "minions" to accomplish their goals except for Chrysalis, who had the Changelings do her dirty work because she was busy going undercover. I would've liked to know more about those creatures, but overall I don't think MLP has suffered from its lack of minions. If they're in S4, fine, as long as they have a purpose.

They can make the Villan more menacing showing that this character has people in his side and he/she means business.

At the same time minions can take away the focus of the main villan of done incorrectly. They can be distracting or seem more likable then the villan.

 

It all depends in how the minions are portrayed

Serious evil minions= badass villan

Silly minions= Villan with low standards

Are you saying someone cant be silly and serious at the same time? Just because someone smiles or tells jokes doesnt mean he isnt scary. take discord as example

I don't think minions would really be needed, Chrysalis is the only exception though, her army of changelings took over Canterlot and they have the ability to shape shift into something else and you're telling me they're weak? Separately then they are weak but they still have the ability to shape shift.

Honestly, i think that DHX is trying as hard as it can to distance itself from the previous generations. The show was terrible in G1-3 and G4 is not trying to associate itself with them. Also FIM takes place in a different place than the previous generations, so bringing back old characters would not work with the story.

G4 is basically the same as G1 except with better writing, voice acting, and aesthetics. Tirek and Grogar are easily in the same realm of "scary villain" as Chrysalis or Sombra, which is why people keep bringing them up.

Not sure about my feelings on this subject. I love the Changelings a lot, so I disagree about them being lame or weak, but I would like to see some more villains that have allies, perhaps even a villain with two henchmen or something. Singular, powerful villains who work alone are cool in many ways, but I would like to some more minions, as Kaidou said.

I think what Cloud_Thunderhoof is merely trying to say is that MLP G4 is distancing itself from previous MLP shows. He didnt say EVERYTHING about the previous show incarnations are bad. Perhaps what he meant was that MLP G4 is trying to come up with its own content without tapping too much into the previous generations. Hence distancing itself.
