Violent video games

I'll play pretty much any video game, violent ones included. In-fact, my roommate and I were talking about my absolute favorite 3rd-Person shooter ever Max Payne 3, and one of the things that came up is just how freakin' violent it was. Truly the most advanced bullet-hole effects to-date.

Personally, I don't think liking MLP means it's weird to also like violent movies/games or vice versa.

I don't like mature video games IF the violence, profanity, or what have you are gratuitous / don't necessarily add to the game play.  "Mature" content just for the sake of mature content doesn't appeal to me.  I loved the first Dead Space game and the old DOOM games; the violence / gore in those contributed to the atmosphere; thus enhancing the overall experience, in my opinion.  But if it's just, say, a hack n' slash type game and limbs are flying everywhere while fountains of blood erupt from every corpse...  Really?  Do I need this lol?  There are exceptions, of course.  One game to which my gratuitous violence rule doesn't apply is No More Heroes, since that game was crazily over-the-top with a bizarre sense of humor and enjoyable game play.

I like watching the TV Show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic but it doesn't mean I don't do other more adult things. I still watch mature content and play mature video games but it doesn't alter my love for the show in any way. I believe it actually helps me cope better with how shlt life is for myself and opens a new way of thinking in some respects. I personally watch the show for the cute ponies and their interactions with each another :)

@ Hooray for No More Heroes! That the hyper-violence in that game lends itself to the bizarre atmosphere the game is known for. Did you ever play the second one?

I'm almost ashamed to say it, but no - I haven't played the second one yet. xD  One of several Wii games I still need to pick up.

I love almost anything by Suda 51 or Platinum games. Just about anything they make is just an over-the-top gorefest

I only own one Suda game, Shadows of the Damned, and it can be pretty crazy with the gore but in a kind of funny way. Pretty sure that's the point though.

I always confuse Suda with Swery though. No real reason, just the similar names. For awhile I thought Deadly Premonition was a Suda game. lol

I'm pretty certain i'm just regurgitating what everyone else here have posted. I'm a brony (who would have guessed?) and as such i enjoy the show and it's theme. But just as easily, i enjoy pieces of graphic, adult entertainment (Violence, Gore, Blood, dark humor...).

I played all sorts of violent games and franchises, Fallout (the series being a personal favorite of mine), Kingpin: Life of Crime, VTM: Bloodlines, GTA, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament... the list goes on and on. Iv'e never had a problem seeing high levels of violence. I started playing some of these and more when i was 6. I suppose that means i got poor parenting, but whatever. I never had problems seeing death, violence and gore on screen.

I don't think a lot of others really have a problem with these kinds of games. It's a question of taste, really.

Well, God of War is my second favorite Playstation Franchise. Nothing like ripping the heads off people and brutally killing different greek monsters.

Have any of you played this? It's hardcore. Spoilers for how brutal it is.

Joking aside, yes. Most of us love to kill shit in video games as much as anyone else.

All I could think of when I saw that was one of those Hitler Downfall Parodies.

Violence in videogames let off steam, and more often than not, it actually makes us LESS violent, specially with over the top violence like Gears of War, Mortal Kombat or GTA. The only games that I consider truly violent are far from common in comparison, like RE from 1 to 4, Manhunt series,  and The Last of Us
