The classic overworld theme. I know, it loops every minute or so and its technically no more than a few channels of square and saw waves but I used to play Zelda for hours on end and never once thought to turn it down because it was too repetitive.

They had to work with what primitive tech they had. As a result, it goes down in gaming history for me as one of the most memorable tunes ever.

Over the years I've thought about how the classic Zelda world would look given modern tech and even though Miyamoto had stated that the new Zelda is not truly open world, it's the closest I've seen to realizing that world I had imagined long ago.

I hope the classic theme makes it in somewhere. :)

I think I have it down to a top ten:

10. Fire and Sand Temples (Spirit Tracks)
9. Forest Temple (Ocarina of Time)
8. Temple of Droplets (Minish Cap)
7. Wind Temple (Wind Waker)
6. Dark Hyrule Castle (Minish Cap)
5. Realm Overworld (Spirit Tracks)
4. Ballad of the Windfish (Link's Awakening)
3. Miniboss (Wind Waker)
2. Ballad of the Goddess (Skyward Sword)
1. Dragon Roost Island (Wind Waker)

I also have five honorable mentions:

15. Stone Tower Temple (Majora's Mask)

14. Tower of Spirits - Stairs (Spirit Tracks)

13. Overworld Theme (Ocarina of Time)

12. Mt. Crenel (Minish Cap)

11. Palace of Winds (Minish Cap)

This remake is just ear-gasmic!

Has anybody else here beaten Master Quest? It really isn't that hard, so I don't get all the hype around it.

Link's Awakening is overrated but Link to the Past isn't? Excuse me, beat my 3rd favorite title before talking about it. It has a ending that is more tragic than any zelda game. Seriously if you don't know how it ends play it to the end! Link to the Past was good just because it returned to the classics (that is great with out a guide book I might ad) after a "piece of garbage"... *puts face in hands* *angry screams of a fan boy* Zelda 2 isn't garbage it is just difficult!

Sorry I'm just... I worship this series and love them all.

There was so much in that post that I could have gone off on, but honestly I reserved it for the two that set off my fanboy alarms the worst.

Hey you should put the Master Quest and the 4 Swords Anniversary on the list! Oh and Can't forget Link's Crossbow Training!

I already know Link's Awakening's ending... and it's great, but I dunno, it's just not my favorite Zelda, it is a very charming and original entry though for an earlier Zelda. :)

And yeah, I kinda came down hard on Zelda 2... but I'll admit that I did have fun with it for a while, it's just my least favorite Zelda is all. It can be good retro fun sometimes I guess, but I can never come off of a session with it without a smidgen of frustration.

It's like dark souls you never turn it off happy but you keep coming back to play it.

I'm currently trying to play Link's Awakening, I've never beaten it. I'm stuck really early in the game and that makes me mad because I don't want to have to use a walkthrough.

Do you know the ending? If you do use a walk through if not, tell me where you are, where you're supposed to be going, your item list, and if possible a picture of the map.

Being a horse lover irl, my favorite aspect of the Zelda games is Epona.  Never has there been a more endearing animal companion in any game.  The relationship between Link and Epona is quite beautiful.  However, as much as I love Epona, I still have to say that my favorite game in the series is Link to the Past, but that might be because it gets big nostalgia points for me.  LTTP was one of the my first experiences with gaming when I was old enough to really appreciate it.  My brother and I had an NES, but I was a little young to appreciate the games.  SNES was sort of like the beginning of my gaming life, and LTTP was one of the first games I played for it.  Objectively, I'd probably say my favorite is a tie between LTTP and Twilight.  I will have to say that I think Ocarina has the best soundtrack.

So how bought them birds, trains, and boats then?

...yeah, so anyway, bringing this back to topic, here's something pretty awesome:

attachicon.gif25 Years of Zelda.jpg

I love that picture. One of my favorite things is how they portray Vaati in that, I mean he is my favorite villain, just all the fan art of him is just...

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaah...

Anyone else never been able to get that into the 2D games? I've played a couple of them, and they're okay, but I just never liked them as much as, say, Ocarina or Twilight Princess.

Also, just found out that Darunia and Ruto will be playable characters in Hyrule Warriors! It's distinctly possible that I might have slightly kinda sorta had a crush on Ruto when I was little.   :squee:

Furthermore, I also discovered that Zelda Wii U will feature a new villain. So there's that.

Fuck yeah! Time to finally put my geeky Zelda knowledge here on MLPForums at last!

I grew up with Ocarina of Time, yadda yadda- all that cliche jazz but Twilight Princess still took the cake for me. I don't think I've had more fun with a Zelda game ever more than that particular one. Well, Majora's Mask was really fun when you weren't trying to get through the Great Bay level; the water themed dungeons in Zelda-lore, I swear...

I didn't enjoy Phantom Hourglass too much but I really enjoyed Spirit Tracks. I too found the soundtrack and the gameplay to be really awesome aside from my minor annoyance with the theme of trains being added to a Zelda title. It worked out all nice in the end, nonetheless.

Twilight Princess is my favorite. However, I love The Wind Waker. I almost can't choose between the two. Personally I'd say WW is my favorite young Link game and TP is my favorite old Link game.

Skyward Sword is pretty fun too. Though there's a few things that are kinda obnoxious about it. The harp next to the Wind Waker is probably my favorite instrument though.

So I just finished Link's Awakening DX, can strike that one off my list. Since I went for 100% though the final boss was an absolute joke, in fact the whole game was no challenge whatsoever especially since I played the 3DS version and could abuse save states... but the ending is really cool as I have heard it was, though I've never been a fan of the permanent end screen this and some other Zeldas do...still, I really enjoyed the game but I'd put most of the other games higher than it on my list.

Link's Awakening is definitely much >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than Zelda 2 tho ;)

I'm currently playing through Link's Awakenig DX. I've only beaten two dungeons though and can't find the third one.

Did you storm the castle? THere are monkeys hanging around the side and you give them bananas... which requires a bit of a trade game before.

MIDNA'S VOICE UNSCRAMBLED IS AWESOME! *dies of fanboying*

(it is last fact of the video)
