i think he meant he finds it unnecessary you just have to point out that it's a gay crush, since you don't say that you have a straight crush. just plain "crush" will do, right?

I just wanted to hear it from you, or I would tell him myself, dude Haven is straight, but if you let me be completely honest, I think that you are a straight guy that feels curiosity towards the same gender. Even though you don't pursue something with another guy, at least you don't close that door.
